Beautiful colors & flowers! Found it helped me very much to just practice (page after page) of two C curves to make a leaf (drop in other color)! Ty for this video as with large brush see can do “flowers” using similar technique! Now going to practice these flower strokes as drawing not strong suit! Part hard for me is centering a painting so looks “rule of thirds”? Ty don’t know word.

This is exactly what I was looking for!!! I want to paint flowers on the back of dining room chairs after the wooked has been sanded down. I wanted to use water colours as I want the image to be soft and light. This is great.

I’ve just discovered your channel and am so enjoying your lessons. Your voice is so pleasant and relaxing to listen to and your art is beautiful. I have never painted before with my quill brushes, but I got them out and tried it after watching you. I believe this is going to become the answer to my quest for the “right” brush. II want to practice simple brush work to learn how to handle it and get a feel for what it can do. I wonder whether you have any suggestions for repetitive brushwork practice?

Simple, non-stress, beautiful flowers. I love the mix of colors. I’ve ordered some Holbein pro watercolor and I think this is going to be my first project with them. I painted your single rose tutorial using some sample tubes from Holbein and it came out lovely. Thanks for the advice on mixing the green. It looks very close to Perylene green which I recently tried mixing with Hookers and Alizarin, and couldn’t get it dark enough. Now I see why. Ya need some black,😂. Hi! Thanks for your question, it’s a good one to ask. 😊 A lot of it comes from making sure the paint you’re using is very wet and watery to start with, then the brush I’m using is also helpful…Because it’s nice and large, it can hold a lot of water, also helping keep it nice and wet. Another thing that helps is to paint quickly, once as you’ve got the petals down, put that green color on immediately afterwards before the petals have a chance to dry. (Try painting just one flower at a time.) It might just take a bit of practice to get it down, but you can do it. 🥰 Thanks for watching and happy painting!
Yes, there probably is a difference. Different brush brands do have different size measurements for their brushes which is why I often specify what brand I’m using. This brush is a Grabie size six. Compared to other brands, (probably like what you might have) it would be closer to a size 14. Hope this helps!
Good question, it’s really not as bad as it looks otherwise I wouldn’t use it! 😅 It also helps that I use high quality watercolor paper that is very thick, so it doesn’t bend into any grooves. If I ever use thin paper I have a sturdy board I put under the paper, but that’s only on occasion. 😊 Thanks for watching!

Simple, non-stress, beautiful flowers. I love the mix of colors. I’ve ordered some Holbein pro watercolor and I think this is going to be my first project with them. I painted your single rose tutorial using some sample tubes from Holbein and it came out lovely. Thanks for the advice on mixing the green. It looks very close to Perylene green which I recently tried mixing with Hookers and Alizarin, and couldn’t get it dark enough. Now I see why. Ya need some black,😂. Omg how simple and how absolutely beautiful!!!!! I also do not use oranges much at all. Which makes fall painting feel a little blocked for me. How do you keep your paints wet while you are painting for the green to blend in with the pink? Thanks so much
Hi! Thanks for your question, it’s a good one to ask. 😊 A lot of it comes from making sure the paint you’re using is very wet and watery to start with, then the brush I’m using is also helpful…Because it’s nice and large, it can hold a lot of water, also helping keep it nice and wet. Another thing that helps is to paint quickly, once as you’ve got the petals down, put that green color on immediately afterwards before the petals have a chance to dry. (Try painting just one flower at a time.) It might just take a bit of practice to get it down, but you can do it. 🥰 Thanks for watching and happy painting!
Your size 6 brush looks huge compared to my size 6 round brush. Is there a difference?
Yes, there probably is a difference. Different brush brands do have different size measurements for their brushes which is why I often specify what brand I’m using. This brush is a Grabie size six. Compared to other brands, (probably like what you might have) it would be closer to a size 14. Hope this helps!
How can you draw on such a table, surely it must be a bad surface?
Good question, it’s really not as bad as it looks otherwise I wouldn’t use it! 😅 It also helps that I use high quality watercolor paper that is very thick, so it doesn’t bend into any grooves. If I ever use thin paper I have a sturdy board I put under the paper, but that’s only on occasion. 😊 Thanks for watching!
