Wow! This is the most complete video for this job that I've seen. Thank you so much for NOT going too fast! I'm 71 years old and have cancer (3rd Time) and this saved me some money to use on chemo again.
My back window dropped while I was driving. I looked up this video, went to Auto Zone (because I needed to fix it immediately, otherwise I would have ordered from 1A Auto), set up my iPad beside me on the seat, paused between each step, and fixed the window thanks to this amazing tutorial! The technician was very clear on what to do, I felt confident following his video, and if my 2012 Ford Escape ever has issues in the future, I will be checking his videos first!
Thank you so much! The regulator on my 2008 Mercury Mariner had to be replaced. My brother was able to do it with the help of your video. You efficiently demonstrated and explained the steps in detail. This is one of the best tutorial videos I have ever seen. Thanks to you and my brother, I saved hundreds of dollars!
Thanks for this! My regulator was fine BUT the cable riped through the plactic fastener on the pully. So, yeah the whole deal got replaced thanks to this video.
Thank you for this video! My rear driver side window was just down and I had no clue what happened. After searching I knew the regulator had to be replaced. Local mechanics wanted $250 or more to fix, my dealer was even more because of what they charge for labor. I got the part and followed this wonderfully detailed video step and step and in about an hour had the whole thing fixed and door put together! Thanks again!
Thank you, thank you and thank you again. This video is incredibly awesome for a non-mechanic guy trying to work on a child’s car to save a few bucks. Everything went extremely smooth and I am absolutely thrilled that the window was repaired without having to make an appointment somewhere. Awesome! Thanks again and keep up the super work. Time to celebrate with a nice cool beverage. 🤣
Everything went exactly as described in the video. Each step was very clear and there were no big surprises. One thing to note, however, is the screws behind the door handle and the standoff cleat are secured in metal clips that easily slip out of position. That was the biggest challenge during reassembly. Thanks. A very useful video.
Thank you for the video. I have very few mechanical skills but was able to follow this video step by step and repair my window. You helped save me hundreds of dollars and hours of concern.
Thank you so much! I was so worried about doing this myself. When I took the door panel off, everything is kind of hiding behind metal and a few openings😬 It looked like a lot of complicated parts that could be messed up very easily. Your video showed it step by step & very clearly explained it without skipping parts like other videos did. Thank you so much! Saved me $400 & a week with my window not securely closed(waiting on available appointment)!
Thank you for this! Just finished replacing my window regulator. It was also really nice not having to run back and forth as I figure out what tools are needed. I'm always a little giddy when I try to fix something myself and it actually works. 😂
This was SO helpful! So easy to follow. Great camera angle. Great explanation of process and tools used. The only thing that differed for my 2011 Escape was that the T30 was too big, I used a T25. I was able to get this motor changed out on my own in about 1.5hrs! Thank you!!
Thank you … i just used this to replace it … i had to get the part from my local store same day because it was raining … but i followed this and was able to do it … thank you again … i will order from you again if needed
Thank you so much! The instructions were well detailed with no room for interpretation and mistakes! The repair went very smoothly and well under an hour. I saved a few hundreds dollars on the repair.😃
This was a great video. I took notes, got a tool list together, and was able to dig in and conquer this job with no issues. When I was buying my replacement motor and regulator I did buy a cheap trim tool kit and a 3/8" T30, and was very glad to have had them.

I pulled a door regulator and motor out of a Ford Escape at the Junk Yard. If you don't have power to lower the window you can get the window bolts out by removing all the accessible mounting hardware. Then with gloves on pull the door frame out while pushing in the fixed traveler mounting bolts. Then you can drop the whole assembly down to access the window attachment screws. With the traveler all the way up you can fit a socket on the bolt head of the screw the traveler cable is in the way. You have to use a needle nose pliers or possibly an open end wrench to loosen the screw. Once both screws are out you can get the assembly out of the door. You may be better off buying the part new for the extra work involved and what the Junk yard wants to charge for the used part.
Awesome video...made replacing it much easier. Seeing you remove the screw behind the door handle saved me from just ripping it off....I didn't know it was under that little cover. Thanks!
Question: when i put my regulator in and tested it to follow the steps, it didn't move. I was working with the old motor so i thought the problem was the part i got but its a problem with both motors now. The car worked fine until i took the first motor out. Now nothing i do makes the new part work. Is there something i need to do? Urgent, i need to drive my friends to a 4th of july party.

Thank you! Took me a little longer because auto part store sold me the wrong side part. Just make sure whichever side you are working on , has the correct part. Other than that all good and saved few hundred bucks!!!!

Great video, I replace my window regulator in about one hour. One small problem with the replacement regulator. I could not get one of the thru bolts to line up after the two slotted stud were tightened down, but the window seems to be working fine without it.

What is the make and model/part# of the inch-lb torque wrench that you use in this video? Do you sell it? Your videos are excellent - everything is explained thoroughly and no steps or details are skipped - best I've found on the web by far.
You don't need a fancy or expensive one, you can get a cheap torque wrench at Harbor Freight for a little over $20, nice to have for the peace of mind if you like doing repairs yourself. Or if you want to cheap out, you can just go a tiny bit past snug when tightening the screw, about 1 maybe 2/12ths of a turn (if you envision each hour on a clock being 1/12th of a turn). 44 in-lbs isn't a whole lot of force/tightness. You are torqueing bolts that are holding onto a piece of glass afterall, you don't want to tightening the bolts down too much that you crack the glass.

At 12:20 in the video I had that piece on the end break that holds the door switch screw secure to the door. What is that called so I can get a new one?
I know what you're talking about but I don't know what it would be called specifically. Trim bracket tab, I guess? Something along those lines. Although, I kind of doubt they sell that piece on its own, it'd be simpler to just buy the whole trim bracket itself. But everything should hold up just fine even if you leave out the one screw that would thread into that tab that you're talking about.
I just bought a dorman window regulator for rear right. The bolts dont go in because the engine part is interfering with the frame. Why does this happened?
Did all of this but now unfortunately up is down and down is up and the control for the window that is at the driver side does nothing you can tell it tries, but it does nothing but thankfully, if you’re sitting in the backseat at that window, it does work. It’s just backwards now.😅😢
That's what I need to know too! I want to replace the black door pillar trim but the window needs to bottom out so I can get to the lower rivet holding the trim.
Didn't buy the part from you but appreciate your video of how to replace it! Also sad that it cost like $50 to fix a window, the driver's back side, that's probably never been used more than 50 times in the life of the vehicle and a window that doesn't even fully open!!! My dad owned it until about 3 years ago and I'd bet he never even opened or closed ti!! My daughter bought it from him and I can't believe she or someone that was riding in it, used it more than 5 or 6 times! We just recently replaced the first set of tires it came with at 54k. It only had 26990 miles when we bought it and it's only got 73379 now. Pretty sad and pathetic! A stupid plastic part that the window lift cable ball end attached to....jebus fuging krist!

How do you lower the window if the motor is dead?
This is my question as well! Help!
stupid question, but is this door behind the driver considered the left door since the motor assembly is left and right. Thanks
What do you recommend when the assembly that needs to be replaced is actually broke. Where you cannot lower the window at all?
Great video. Thanks.

Wish they do an egde cuz they are different. I got a 2013 ford edge
What kind of tape are you using to hold up that window?
I tried duct tape and it wasn't good. Switched to masking tape and it held just fine.
