In lieu of a dedicated vacuum pump; single stage vacuum generators are a low cost way create vacuum for many operations including- pick and place, clamping, chucking, alignment, lifting, and many others using an air compressor.
LILO, has anyone ever told you that your rewriting style is very similar to how spammers write? Maybe changing your style would be in order. A vacuum generator as you describe I would think to be an air compressor powered Venturi. I would much rather carry around a 2 lb quiet machine than a 30 lb noisy one. But you are correct a Venturi could be used.
Have you thought about the fact that if your system is fairly leakproof then you could stand on a wooden board with a simple cylinder on each end, perhaps 2 old car foot pumps in reverse to pull your vacuum and not need a pump. Or use a a bike chain, front and back sprockets and their mountings with 2 cam lobes coming off the rear sprocket to work 2 vacuum pumps. Would make an amusing video! Campaign showers in Napoleons (1800's) day recirculated the water in a field shower with 2 foot pedals in the base of the shower, no one has ever done this in plastic.
+Brady Rose The Pump I have is a cheap bottom of the line Gast brand. If you are looking to experiment here is a link where you can get pumps cheaper. Thank you very much Peter for putting this video together. I know it's an old video. I've been wanting the Festool VAC-SYS for a long long time. But for the price, I'm going to follow your lead and put my own system together. Your pump, what's the CFM? I'm looking at the veneer supplies website and it looks like you're using the 1.1 CFM unit. I was thinking about buying the 5.5 CFM just incase I ever had the need to actually veneer something. LOL ! But still unsure. Pricing a system on the veneer supplies site for under $600. 1/3 the price of the Festool system. I may sound like a tool snob, but the fact that the Festool system does not come in a systainer like the UK version makes no sense to me. I could honestly deal with the price of the Festool system if it came in a systainer. They missed the point of their own system on this one. Okay dude, I'll leave you alone now. Take care. Eric
i guess im asking randomly but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot my password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@Casen Brixton i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.

What type of plastic are you using? I've been looking on Amazon and the most common is HDPE, but it is tough to get material to adhere to HDPE. TIA

Hawker CNC Interesting ideas and food for thought but I think I am better suited to plugging the pump into an outlet and letting it rip.
Thanks very much for this example about vacuum clamping
You think this has enough power to do light milling of aluminum on a cnc machine?
This is a great instructional video. I am going to make one of these.
Nice !!!
what's the vacuum machine ?…
did I miss something or did you talk about it ?…
thanks fo answering !…
Looks like a Gast MOA-P108-FB 110/115V. or FD for the UK.
says the name of the pump so fast I can't make it out.

@Casen Brixton It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my ass :D
@Gordon Crew no problem =)
