it's not really a "bomb shelter" we have those all over Alabama and Mississippi. they are tornado shelters. same thing I guess.

It's a very moist environment, lots of thunderstorms throughout the whole year and at least a couple tropical storms or hurricanes yearly. Molds and mildew are a constant threat.

Abandoned hotels are my absolute favorite, that’s for sharing! I can’t believe it’s been abandoned only 3 years and looks like that, you’d think it would be much longer, and I was shocked too when the copper pipes weren’t gone. I think they have been in every abandoned hotel video I’ve seen so far.

My whole life anytime I saw an abandoned building/home I would feel a need to explore it. Having these videos is a sincere blessing to me. Not only has it made me feel less weird for having this fascination as it is obviously shared by many, but it takes me along despite my health challenges and other things that hold me back (a lot of us have them, not trying to throw a pity party) Thank you for sharing, I really enjoy your work.

It's a common practice for Indians or Pakistanis to purchase smaller motels like that, run them into the ground, then leave them in disrepair. The same fate happened to a larger motel here in my town where my mother worked when it was brand new. Indians bought it, did no repairs to it, allowed vagrants to stay in one portion of the motel. Eventually it was condemned and torn down. The last owners owed thousands of dollars in taxes, they left the country never to be heard from again.

The Google Streetview of the "Lakeside Motor Lodge" is from 2016, so it shows cars parked at the motel, and apparently still open. Wild. Those little cottages up top might be what they are trying to salvage for condos, that and the next set of buildings down. I doubt that motel is destined for anything but razing though.

You mentioned in the video that there are no POSTED signs about no trespassing. In Alabama it is not to be posted. If you are not the property owner you can still be arrested or ticketed for trespassing if you can provide proof that you are authorized to be on the property. You must have proof of permission to be on the property, period. Even if you were verbally given permission, it is your responsibility to provide this proof when questioned by the law. Just a warning. I live here and would explore WAY more if that law wasn't in place. It's because of so many hunting properties and people claiming to have permission to hunt land, etc.

Once the black mold moves in, the only thing that can be done is level the place (fire would be better). Interesting though, Jay, looks like it would've been a nice place to stay, back in its heyday--nice big bright rooms... Thanks for giving us a chance to look it over.
