While I would not consider myself a Festool fanboy, Collecting woodworking tools for the past 30 years I do now finally own over $20,000.00 of Festool products in my hobby workshop and love them all. I recently purchased the Dashboard short and the accessory bundle, it is amazing. Compared to the MFT3 table, the Dashboard product makes the MFT3 appear to be an inaccurate unstable toy. I was so impressed with the insane additional functionality, I purchased the full-sized table and the (very expensive) accessory package with the outfeed tables and have NO regrets. As a senior citizen, the ease of safely breaking down 4 by 8 sheets of 18mm Baltic Burch panels without the need of my wife to assist is priceless. If you can get one to fit your budget, I highly recommend it. Not gonna lie, the price hurt but I am glad I saved the money and do not regret it at all.

It is cool to hear that you are happy with your purchase. I started fairly late but my goal is to have my dream shop for retirement. One tool purchase at a time. I may never get there but nothing beats a failure but a try.
Thanks for checking out the video.

Thanks for your comments about our products. To be clear, both legs on our ShortCut bench remain attached at all times; one simply folds over the other for storage and transport. About a "protractor," stay tuned.

I heard Ralph from Benchdogs say that the US pricing for their bench is cheaper to account for free shipping to the US. He said this on Peter Millard’s 10 min workshop.

      @daddysharespace  Месяц назад +1

True when you are in the US you can select the proper price. At checkout it will tell you the shipping cost. 153.00 to ship to me. That makes the table 838.00 without taxes

Nice presentation. I have been using Festool system for 25 plus years, started out with their MFT800 (actually two of them), TS55, OF1010, and their Vacuum System dust collector (which are great). However, my MFT predates the existing MFT3, and they are not compatible, different height (the MFT3 is higher, side rail profile is different), so the newer accessories for the MFT3 do not work with the older MFT800 and 1080. I got from Festool two 5-foot sections of their MFT1080 rail to turn one MFT800 into a longer 1080 (which is closer in size to the MFT3). So my MFT is orphaned 😢, then came Rob and his Dashboard system, hos Dashboard accessories also fit both the original Festool MFT800/1080 and the MFT3, so his new rail hinge and Trackstars came to my rescue to replace the older and worn rail hinge setup on my MFT1080. Rob has been very helpful in adjusting his Outrigger to work with my lower MFT1080, and his other accessories fit without any mods. His accessories can be used to add additional functionality to the Festool MFT system, can improve the accuracy of the cuts on a MFT. The Festool protractor attachment, whilst better on the MFT3, requires frequent readjustment to square back up after cutting angles, or removing to use the MFT for a different function. The Dashboard hinge system is more precise, and requires less recalibration.
As for cutting angle cuts on any 22-mm grid worktop, including Festool, Dashboard and BenchDog, the holes are a precise gird, with horizontal holes being right on at 90-degrees to vertical hole pattern. This is how BenchDog rails work with their dogs clamped into a track saw guide to get 90-degree cuts. With this precise grid of holes, you can take the Dashboard surface mount fence or the BenchDog fence, and re-set them to form 45-degrees cuts to the trac saw guide by using the hole’s diagonally. You can easily get 45-degree and 22.5 degree without using a triangle (Dashboard does have its own triangle to setting 90-degree and 45-degree cuts. Additionally, adding a Dashboard TrackStar to the rear of the MFT table, you can either use a MFT hole or a second TrackStar on the front to set a surface mount fence to any angle you want. Rob at Dashboard has a video demonstrating this. By the Festool MFT and then you can add either BenchDog or Dashboard accessories to increase the MFT’s functionality and accuracy. For older MFT users like me, this third party accessories are the only ones we can use, as the newer MFT3 accessories (other than the Saw Rail Tracks) do not work. That said the new Festool Angle guide will work with any MFT type table, including the no,def MFT800-1080, Dashboard and BenchDog, as it uses the 20mm holes, not the side rail extrusions.
    Cheers

Well said. I agree Dash Board is an amazing set up. If I am ever more successful than I am I would definitely consider both the Dashboard and the Benchdog tables and accessories. As it is I find the most value in the things that I cannot manufacture myself I.E. the tools. $5000.00 plus for the larger Dashboard set up is out of my league at this time. It is great that Dashboard has made accessories that work with the older Festool table. That is top service. That being said I have the MFT 3 that is currently compatible with everything so that allows me to focus on having a complete set of tools that allow for nearly any task.
Thank you for the feedback it is much appreciated.

Festool table hardware is awful. I bought the MFT and then bought the Dashboard hardware (fence and hinge) for it. Works great now.

I have struggled for a couple of years with the MFT hardware. It goes out of square every few weeks; a pain to set up even though it isn’t difficult. The table has been great but based on your comment I’ll give the dashboard hardware a try.

Dashboard makes several accessories for the Festool table, including an attachable side table and short supports. Expensive but they add lots of utility.

I looked at the Festool MFT, but found it heavy... and costly, I ended up purchasing the DEWALT DWST11556 Express Folding Workbench for $99.00 and love it.

I have 4 of those. I got them on sale for 69.00. They are ok. They are not made for advanced functionality. No dogs for the table limited clamping options. No advance use for their own track saw. I have the Dewalt table saw and 12 inch miter saw with Dewalt stands. All three items stand at different heights. Alone it is fine. In a system it has a lot to be desired even at the lower cost point. What is the point of the dog holes with no first party dogs and or quick clamps?

@@daddysharespace I agree with your assessment... most people just build a MFT workbench if it's permanent workspace. Check out the Hooked on Wood video for such an example: ruclips.net/video/CXXyA8QlOuM/видео.html
I just use the 6-5/8'' Quick Clamp and rail to cut sheet goods into manageable sections, but always used my table saw for the final cuts. Another option is using the Festool HKC 55 kit.

I had the MFT 1080 for years and sold it because I moved to another state. I was looking to buy a new one, but I remember all the problems with the Inaccuracy, weakness, etc. I purchased the mt3 and the hinge from the dashboard. I did that and remembered all the French words (#%@#*) used when setting up my MFt. I received the table and returned it without opening the UPS package. I ordered the shortcut from the dashboard. I can tell you the MFT looks like a toy against this new table. The best decision, yes, was expensive, but I don't have to repurchase it. It will last.

      I checked out the videos.
Don't get me wrong the dashboard is awesome. It truly is.
The fact remains, that piece of aluminum along with the dogs that attach to the table do not come with the table and they are not free.
I am not trying to defend the MFT 3. I will leave that to their paid marketing department.
The dashboard tables are 1199 and 1799 respectively. Neither comes with hardware which means you have to spend more money to get what you get out of the boxes with the MFT 3.
Regardless, your testimony only adds to my opinion that it is an awesome table.
Personally, I would only consider the large dashboard table. That being said I have more tools that I will be adding before I purchase another work bench. Thanks for the feed back.
