As an audio buff i was considering the MIAD01 with its posh balanced headphone jack etc but aside from that, well it's not so great and really is a one trick pony so i kept looking... Coupled with great sound from both BT and the jack, snappy performance, a slick design, and gaming performance that makes my kiddies jealous, i couldn't be happier! Anyway nice review and keep up the good work fella 👍
Thanks for the review. Although the bezels are there, at least it's not a hole punch, which is not bad. However, I like Sony's approach to this, and makes it look very clean. What's interesting is that they didn't announce an Xperia 5 VI.

I'm a Sony mobile user for more than 2 decades. Would never change. I know other brands making decent products, but if you look at Sony's history in electronics they are pretty much the top of the list in terms of innovation. Plenty of world's first from them. Some of my colleagues own the latest flashing phones from various brands, but they are always impressed the screen, camera and speaker quality of my Xperia
I'm someone who still rocks a Galaxy S20+ and will be in the market for a new phone in the near future. I have zero interest any of the current Samsung Galaxy phones or iPhones whatsoever since they all don't have expandable storage. Would the Xperia 1 VI or Xperia 5 V be a good upgrade from my Galaxy S20+?
Yes it'll definitely be better in many ways (much better if you got Exynos). Better responsiveness, camera and pretty much all hardware. But you might miss some features from OneUI like shifting the back button to the right side, Knox, and Samsung being a bitch by not allowing their apps to sync to non-Samsung devices.
@@pixels_per_inch I use swipe controls for that type of thing, so I guess that won't be a problem unless Sony doesn't provide swip controls. UI change won't be a problem for me, because I would say I use maybe 30% of the features on my 20+, if I'm honest.
Bezels are great for accommodating the selfie camera, front-facing stereo speakers, and providing some purchase for gaming. I would not want a phone without these features.
Just orderd the phone. Can't wait. Moving on from my good Xperia 5 III will refurb this phone with a new screen and fresh re install. It's good for my mother now. Onoy problem with my old phone. Is their os no longer support. So here we go once again with a Sony. 👍
I just figured out why there is no Pro mode at launch with a promise of some kind of update later... They thought what would Tesla do as they are popular (where before it was "what would Apple do" - when they used to say what would Sony do) and so they realised Tesla launches with promises for it's features to come sometime in the future via an OTA drop... genius!

Had mine for two weeks. Superb. Brilliant battery and the speakers are nice. Disappointed with the rubbish unboxing experience and have had those glitches with RUclips.
Happy to see that this has a 512GB option, was really disappointed to see the Xperia 1 V be capped at 256GB last year. That said I don't think I'll be upgrading from my Xperia 1 IV just yet.
I've always liked the sony designs and now I've had a Moto Razor for a bit I've decided I'm not fussed about a folding screen so my go for a bar phone again next time. This will definitely be on my radar.
I came from iOS. This was the only android I considered because of the micro SD card. Iphones have gotten way too expensive for the 512gb snd up variant. I got the 1 VI. Absolutely hapoy with it. As a photographer and video enthusiast, my color profiles on the Xperia 1 VI matches the colour profile of my two Alpha mirrorless camera's. Theyre too good.
I also have this phone and I think it slightly under saturates the colours as opposed to what they looked like with the naked eye but I suppose it's a lot easier to boost the colours than to take them away I also find it slightly under exposes most of the time but again it's easier to brighten an image than to retrieve highlights. I am happy with it but there's no reason why Sony of all manufacturers couldn't get the exposure spot on and I also can't understand why Sony would purposely reduce colour from the picture and not keep it true to life, I get how a lot of people are used to Samsung over saturating their colours but to under saturate makes very little sense to me. At least the photos captured have good detail and don't ever look "processed" which is probably what they were going for but as a result the images are not natural and don't capture what you see. On the flip side I've had 10 hours of screen on time with 44 hours between charging or 7 hours of screen on time and 62 hours (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) between charging and with less screen on time it would have made it to Thursday morning ! I hope it lasts 4 years like my Xperia 1 mk ii did 👌

I am very impressed with the battery of the mark vi. The official cover is damn hard to remove. I gave up in the end. My photos have come out very well so far. Wondering if Sony will be the first to change to perovskite camera sensor. As that looks interesting. I have wanted to try the pixel phones, just don't like the design. Samsung phones don't like them as they have their overlay on top of Android. Sony phones seem so more logical everything it the right place. That could be just because i have ha so many so use to everything. The older you get you seem to stick with what you know and if something is done differently then it seems too hard to have to learn. I did have one of my photos used for a background on a certificate people printed out. The guy that took his DSLR camera and thinks he was a amateur photographer got beaten by a Sony phone about 12 years ago. My photos catch the eye of everyone who walks by and sees my desktop background.
What's he talking about the sides not feeling like glass? They're not glass, they're metal. I love how grippy my Xperia 1 VI is whilst still feeling premium.
small division with under 10000 employees, they worked quite hard to rearrange the internals and stuff for this generation so I guess they can charge this much, or maybe they think they're apple XD
Besides the HIDEOUS screen downgrade, it's still a flagship device, so. I'd buy the 1 mk V if I had the cash for it, it's everything an Android smartphone should be.
That's because they have the audacity to keep a lot of stuff that most other brands have ditched: SD card, 3.5" jack, unblemished screen, front-facing speakers, SIM tray you can open with just your fingers, physical shutter button, side fingerprint reader... You know, all those little things that make a difference for real people in their real life. May Sony Mobile live and prosper, for they are nearly the last brand that really cares about their consumers. My next smartphone will be made by Sony, period. And I will gladly pay that premium price because of the above.
HI, great review, I understand OIS but does your 1 vi rattle ? and if it does can you explain it to a non tech head like me, because I hate the constant rattle when I move the phone from desk to ear. Any good thoughts. PMC
I didn't expect less from the cameras, I knew that they had to be good because we're dealing with Sony here. And trust me they nailed that camera. Vibrant and barely any processing on images shot
I get the feeling from all your Xperia content that you genuinely like how Sony do stuff differently to others, something I share. I was highly sceptical when I saw that the 1 VI would go to a 19.5:9 FHD+ display and I'm honestly still on the fence about whether I like that decision. The battery life is a truly incredible stat and if the lower res display is why, then that's a near-perfect compromise, but I would've preferred if Sony kept the 21:9 format with the 1096p resolution which all Xperia 1 devices have defaulted to when not showing 4K content, to keep the iconic shape of these phones the same.
Sony listened to MKBHD’s suggestions and looks like they implemented it well! I’ll see if I can get an Xperia 1 VI at some point. Watch his video “why people don’t buy Sony phones”
@@shanepatrick641 I saw that video when it came out and I respect his views, but I think they would've been more appropriately applied to the Xperia 5 than the Xperia 1. The Xperia 5 has always been the more general-audience phone that they've not quite nailed. The Xperia 1 is for the hardcores seeing as we don't get an Xperia Pro regularly. I recall seeing that Sony are experiencing a shortage of certain supplies so aren't launching an Xperia 5 this year, it could be that they anticipated that and made the 1VI more of a compromise.
not enough pixels to stretch over 21:9 hence 4K. I think it was a hard sell for that ratio for normal web content for most people. Having it squished and require more scrolling and landscape mode having less height
@@DNGR369 4K Xperia 1s run at 1096x2560 when not showing 4k content, so your point about pixels is moot, but I will give you that the nonstandard aspect ratio is a hard sell for the general public, but so is a lot of what makes the Xperia 1 an Xperia 1. They (should) be using the Xperia 5 to target the general public, give that the simplified camera and 19.5:9 display, it'll sell much better, especially given its much more approachable pricetag.
Hello Chris, great review as always. Can you please help me to decide which phone to get. I have Huawei P40 pro, but want to upgrade. I usualy use mobile for browsing, cam, and social medias, so I was thinking about getting Iphone 15, Google pixel 8 pro or Samsung S23 ultra. Would you choose one of those 3, or recomand me another phone to buy, thanx in advance.
Thanks for the review, this looks like a very healthy upgrade for my 1iii. I can see the LED notification is still there 🥰 I'm happy they widened up the screen ratio because the one game I play does not benefit from 21:9.
I'm still on my Xperia 1 IV, but it hasn't blown me away. The fingerprint sensor is going a bit dodgy now and sometimes the on screen button doesn't work for videos and pictures. The fact it overheats on 4k filming is annoying too, and they removed 920fps recording that my ZX Premium had. So overall a bit disappointed. So I'm not sure what to do next.
1. Does it still restart at each removal of the SIM tray? 2. Still slow and clunky when opening the camera app? 3. Still quickly overheats after a few mins of camera / gaming use? If these have been solved then great. I've used Xperias almost exclusively all my life but these have always been a pain point for me. Using a Pixel currently and not having these issues (camera app is super duper quick and light on its feet). I miss Xperias and wish to return one day
I'd love to hear a review of the Sony Xperia 10 VI frankly. It's still little and I was surprised by the size when I saw it in a shop.. not that they'd let me pick it up. Given it's ickle and relatively cheap, I'd love some 'professional' thoughts.

Having kept my trustee Samsung S9 for more years than i really should have done, it was high time for a change! As an audio buff i was considering the MIAD01 with its posh balanced headphone jack etc but aside from that, well it's not so great and really is a one trick pony so i kept looking...
Then stumbled on this mk vi when looking at my o2 upgrade options 😅
Ok it is eye wateringly expensive but hey if I'm gonna keep this one for as long as the S9 then... Yeah, sure I can justify it *cough*
Loving it so far! The best camera in the world is the one you happen to have in your pocket etc etc and this one does not disappoint. Coupled with great sound from both BT and the jack, snappy performance, a slick design, and gaming performance that makes my kiddies jealous, i couldn't be happier!
Anyway nice review and keep up the good work fella 👍
Loving your new software advice! Just a quick tip, Immersive Translate is a must-have for anyone dealing with international software content.
Will be interesting to see what they do with the mark 7 next year
Great to see Sony grow I have been it's fan for years although I can't buy their latest flagships but I am still using their experia 5
Thanks for the review. Although the bezels are there, at least it's not a hole punch, which is not bad. However, I like Sony's approach to this, and makes it look very clean. What's interesting is that they didn't announce an Xperia 5 VI.
Maybe i am the last person that still using XZ Premium as a daily phone, still working perfectly and i am still enjoying wired headphone or in earbud jack for calling, listening music and watching movies. I kinda like the mark v1 than mark v because of boxy form of mark vi rather than rectangular form of mark v. This will be my next phone
luckily this video pops up on my recommendations. everybody in my school be sayin "people who use android phones dont have personalitys and the sony phone are overpriced while being a trashy cheap phone". im not someone whos so quick to judge even tho im using an iphone that my parents bought for me so i didnt say anything, until now i saw this video like DUDE! it has sd card slot???? while also using flagship chipset?. im defo gonna buy this
finally! video I was waiting for!
Watching from my smooth as jelly white Xperia 1 ii.
Would the Xperia 1 VI or Xperia 5 V be a good upgrade from my Galaxy S20+?
using an s20fe myself and I would say if your battery still runs fine then dont upgrade.
I'm in Japan and thinking of getting that red color edition. Looks good.
Bet you're Handsome/Beautiful too.
Won't assume the gender, but you do sound like a nice person
Just orderd the phone. Can't wait. Moving on from my good Xperia 5 III will refurb this phone with a new screen and fresh re install. It's good for my mother now. Onoy problem with my old phone. Is their os no longer support.
So here we go once again with a Sony. 👍
My next phone is a sony for sure! Just got my iphone 15 a few months back 😢
Thanks for the review! This will be the perfect phone for my WF1000MX5 🔥
I just figured out why there is no Pro mode at launch with a promise of some kind of update later... They thought what would Tesla do as they are popular (where before it was "what would Apple do" - when they used to say what would Sony do) and so they realised Tesla launches with promises for it's features to come sometime in the future via an OTA drop... genius!
I bought this phone as i wanted a in built music app. I've been a Samsung fan from 2014 but they have removed the headphones jack and in built music app so i made the switch. My Sony is coming tomorrow, can't wait looking forward to it
Exactly my experience too, hence why i'm considering this 'phone.
@@rimmerblues1586 update I've had mines now for 3 months and I'm loving it. Not looking back, the music is loud and you can also download an app to increase the maximum volume and base
The Xperia 1 VI is a well rounded device. I'm waiting on the Xperia 5 VI in order to make a decision, before upgrading.
there wont be a 5 vi
Why@@pillepolle3122
This phone is criminally underrated
i'd rather appreciate the separate photo pro and video pro app or maybe make a separate app with both photo pro and video pro features in it beside the stock camera because thats what makes sony phone defferent and makes it special.
where can i find the wallpapers you use?
This is what I want to know too!
Same
Had mine for two weeks. Superb. Brilliant battery and the speakers are nice.
Disappointed with the rubbish unboxing experience and have had those glitches with RUclips.
Great review, is it worth to move from Xperia V to this?
Wait for the VII or VIII
What a great camera with a great phone!
FINALLY! The almighty Xperia 1 VI👑 is on this channel!
It was about time!
Ha, sorry for the delay, only just got my sample last week - better late than never, I guess? 😁
Nice just ordered one. It will be my nicest phone ever.

I hope it lasts 4 years like my Xperia 1 mk ii did 👌
@@oliverskinner8962 I totally get you. However this is a post editing work camera. I will never recommend this for someone who does not own a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. It's like working with s-log. Hence why the colours are not punchy. By edits, I mean tools like lightroom. :)
From where you get these anime wallpapers ??

SONY SHOULD REAAALLLLLYYYYY RELEASE THIS PHONE IN MORE ASIAN MARKETS AND EVEN MANY COUNTRIES IN EUROPE AND THE WEST...... MAKE THE PRICE LIKE 1000$ 1100$ FOR THE MARK 1 AND 799$ FOR THE MARK 5S.... THEY WILL KILL THE MARKET!!!
It's sold in almost all of Europe 😂😂😂
And most of Asia.... Except Malaysia, India and Philippines.

Sony Xperia 10 VI review. When?
I'm actually interested in getting this as my next phone. I've never had a Sony before, so curious to hear all about it. Love the green version
I have been using this since June. Can't be happier. It's an amazing phone, even better than Apple
Micro SD and audiojack would be fantastic with my Tidal library, I already have a 1tb one I got for 40$
Side-key-fingerprint instead of searching for where on the screen to touch 😍😍
I might very well move from the Samsung Ultra, would miss Dex and the S-Pen though
TWO DAY BATTERY yes please :D longer range and macro!! I wont upgrade my 1V just yet as i want the zoom sensor to be updated to the new two layer transistor pixel tech
Won't happen.
Where can i get the wallpaper?😊
It also is equiped with the Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 for banging fast connectivity :) However just one 5G band for T-Mobile users in the states.
What's he talking about the sides not feeling like glass? They're not glass, they're metal. I love how grippy my Xperia 1 VI is whilst still feeling premium.
It feels like plastic to me, kind of squishy. Unlike previous Xperia which felt very solid
@@pixels_per_inch Doesn't feel squishy at all. What you smokin'?
"Bezels in Bed" sounds like the name of a band.

What was that tiger movie at 5:41?
how do they have the audacity to charge this much
small division with under 10000 employees, they worked quite hard to rearrange the internals and stuff for this generation so I guess they can charge this much, or maybe they think they're apple XD
Because japanese craftsmanship
Besides the HIDEOUS screen downgrade, it's still a flagship device, so. I'd buy the 1 mk V if I had the cash for it, it's everything an Android smartphone should be.
Delusion
That's because they have the audacity to keep a lot of stuff that most other brands have ditched: SD card, 3.5" jack, unblemished screen, front-facing speakers, SIM tray you can open with just your fingers, physical shutter button, side fingerprint reader...
You know, all those little things that make a difference for real people in their real life.
May Sony Mobile live and prosper, for they are nearly the last brand that really cares about their consumers.
My next smartphone will be made by Sony, period. And I will gladly pay that premium price because of the above.
UNCLE SPURT IS GOING AROUND WITH MODELS NOW !!
WE ARE HAPPY FOR YOU
HI, great review, I understand OIS but does your 1 vi rattle ? and if it does can you explain it to a non tech head like me, because I hate the constant rattle when I move the phone from desk to ear. Any good thoughts. PMC
Rattle? Where, how?
It's the camera pro I did it also don't worry about it
Great Review.Going to get one.👍
Thanks ❤😀
@@shanepatrick641 I don't listen to someone who does 96 in a school zone

Pls where do you get your wallpapers?

I know where. He mentioned it in one of his videos…
How does it compare to the Xperia 1 V in performance and battery life?
16:9 format please 😮💨
No way 😁
Tbh these old fashioned bezels are much better. I mean more display is good through Dynamic Island or hole punches, but the old ways are better.
Hi may i ask if you're gonna review Xperia 10 vi as well? Thanks!
Whose that model at 9:38
I just purchased that phone and was wondering what earphones are best for it
KZ ZS10 PRO X.
Beginner Audiophile wired headphones. Pretty solid one at a decent price.
Would you choose one of those 3, or recomand me another phone to buy, thanx in advance.
iPhone 15 for most natural normal shots. Pixel for best editing and Samsung for best zoom and most pleasing(to most people)colors
Hmm would really want a 4k screen still but that battery life is pretty nice
Thanks for the review, this looks like a very healthy upgrade for my 1iii. I can see the LED notification is still there 🥰
I'm happy they widened up the screen ratio because the one game I play does not benefit from 21:9.
Led notification died with 1 IV
@@rinkashi101 what the fuck they took it away?? Bastards >:(
I love a side finger print reader
At 4:07 it is mentioned as a 4k display while it clearly states everywhere it is 1080p...
He said it's a full HD rather than 4K😅
no he didn't. listen carefully
"It's a full HD plus panel rather than 4K as usual". That's what he said, need to work on those listening skills
