What's your favorite cleaning tip?
Home Repair Tutor wear short sleeves when cleaning. 😝
My favorite tip was using the Flush and sparkle product. I had no idea that there was such thing. I just installed a toilet and I wanted to learn more about cleaning it so I can prolong its life. I didn’t like that my last one smelled so bad toward the end of its life. I don’t think that toilet lasted long at all. It didn’t help that I never changed the way I cleaned it. Anyways, thanks for the info !
Always clean the toilet bowl before wiping it down with Lysol Wipes. This way, if any splashes on the seat, you’ll clean it right after!
The best tip was after cleaning the toilet disinfect the toothbrush before brushing my teeth😭
Take your shirt off while cleaning 🥲
Parents should be showing this vid to their kids to learn how to do their chores properly!! Good one.
awesome idea, we should show our own kids. Can’t tell you how many times we’ve asked them to clean their bathroom
@@HomeRepairTutor Yup, they have to learn life's little pleasures( sarcastic) :)
lol, totally agree
I don't think just kids use watch this. lol I'm a supervisor at hotel and let me tell you those girls of all ages. Can't clean for 💩. They need to watch videos like this. I've been housekeeper for more then 30 years and I can't stand a older person who doesn't know how to clean.
You should probably do the toilet bowl first. This way, if any toilet water splashes on the seat, you can clean it after with your Lysol Wipes!
Make sure you wipe down your cleaning supplies when finished. Go back and see how many times you touched them with the dirty gloves, this is often forgotten. Good info and good video, thanks.
very important tip, soaking them in bleach or Lysol is a good idea
Cleaning under the rim is necessary especially on an older toilet. Great video.
thank you, those scrub pads are great for rim holes.
Very instructive video on proper toilet cleaning. I definitely learned a few things. In particular, I didn't know that the bleach cakes were dropping in the tank were damaging the flapper and seals inside the tank! We always did that - until now! We also had to recently get the flapper / fill valve replaced because the toilet wouldn't stop running. Thank you!
thank you, bummer to hear about your flapper and fill valve. This system is a definitely a good alternative to those bleach cakes.
Thanks for the info on the Flush n Sparkle. Easy to install.
What a great video. Thank you!
Very good ! So glad you go straight to the important points, not like other videos who talk fluff for a long intro. Really appreciate that you cover all points and rational for the sequence @ 2:30 "the reason we work from the top down, as you get closer to the base of the toilet bowl, your face gets closer to it" (so true, so true). Also, funny reminder when flush the toilet... @ 5:01 "Just make sure your head is not close to the toilet when you do that" ... ha ha ha.
Cleaning from top to bottom was a great tip for me. Thanks! 😃
This is an awesome video. This has helped me keep my bathroom so much better. Thank you so much for this video.
Very good tips, thank you. I wouldn't use the plunger that itself needs cleaning and proper place to store.
Once again - you have demonstrated teaching mastery. Well done. Thank you.
thank you Randall, we always appreciate your support
I need Doodlebugs. Thank you for the suggestion.
Been looking a video like this 😊
would love to see a video on cleaning toilets on septic - especially how to handle hard water stains
How did you set up the inside-the-bowl shots? Mad props.
This is the 2nd vid I watched of your series. On a whim, thought what the hell. I give you 👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Never occurred to could use a plunger to remove the water in a toilet bowl for cleaning the toilet👍👍 The wipes, again something to consider. Normally, I just use vinegar. Watched a vid on how to clean the toilet tank. Again, never knew how. Game changer in terms of how well my toilet smelled after cleaning the tank. Now, it will smell good inside and out👍👍 Thank you for all of this info.
You’re my hero
Flush and sparkle was my fav tip!
awesome, thanks for watching!!
Great video. Thank you.
thank you buddy 👍🏼🔥
Another good one!!!
thank you
Do you discard the doodlebug sponge afterwards? I need a video on cleaning tools and how to maintain/when to throw away etc
2:31 Greatest story ever told!
Are those the same black gloves that u wore to clean the toilet that u then touched the fluidmaster thingy.???
Great video Jeff. We have a septic and well water. Our issue in regards to toilets is in our tanks. Over time, we get a nasty film on the top of the water and then attached to all of the parts. I put a bleach tablet in the tank which does the job, but obviously is not good for the septic. What product would you recommend to prevent this "growth" in the toilet tanks? Thanks!
thanks Holly! That’s a tough question and warrants research as I’m not sure. Awhile back I installed a special flush valve that cleans the tank but can’t remember the brand
Holly Hedman I have the same set up as you. However, I have water softener and whole house filter. Never have any issues. Eliminates rust sediment from well too. You need to address the cause of “nasty film” floating on top of the water in your toilet tank
Great video! Is it a must to wipe the commode after using the disinfectant wipes?
And what do you use to wipe after the disinfectant wipe?
I always use wipes to clean the toilet. I don’t understand using microfiber for all areas of the toilet except for environmental purposes.
Can you reuse the Doodlebugs after cleaning the toilet?
best tip was the self cleaning for septic - fluidmaster blue and sparkle
The best was keeping your head away when flushing.
just in time ;)
You should definitely add in removing the toilet seat into your routine.
Can you use bleach to clean the tiled floor?
How long does the Fluidmaster last?
roughly 3 months depending on use
I make it a point to clean the inside of the bowl as the first thing.. then i do the top-down method.
Great job Jeff. Are you for hire? Haha. I am local???
lol, our personal toilets are enough of a challenge
Vinegar and Oil Free Acne Wash in a 50/50 mix make a perfect toilet cleanser. Why? it makes it feel good to sit on so it must be a perfect cleanser. Use any kind of good vinegar white, distilled, apple cider. Wash all surfaces first then use in the water in the bowl.
The toilet wipes still end up in our environment right? In the dump yard or worse in the oceans..and they're not biodegradable either..
Pumice blocks for scraping hard water deposits in toilets are used by professional cleaners. The pumice is softer material than porcelain and won’t damage it. Also, fewer caustic products are necessary because the pumice block eliminates calcium & lime buildup - esp. if you use CLR with it.
Clorox Wipes kill more germs than Lysol Wipes. I would change to a new wipe twice as often as shown.
If males would SIT to pee, rather than stand and spray AT the toilet, there would be much less splatter on the surrounding tile.
ANOTHER well known potentially lethal toxic mixture is Bleach and Ammonia (found in Windex and glass cleaners).
Next time I clean the toilet, I’m thinking of placing an old towel around the base of my toilet and spraying it well with a spray cleanser, letting that sit for a minute, then using the handheld shower head from the shower to rinse the toilet quickly with as little water as possible, then washing the towel (alone or with similarly dirty rags and LOTS of laundry detergent) in the washer. Then using Clorox Wipes around the base where the toilet meets the tile, and the tile around the perimeter of the toilet.
Don’t worry you won’t keep a man around long
Miss know it all
A lazy way is put disinfectant solution in spray bottle, I apply it almost daily, and just use toilet paper wipe through.
This is exactly how I clean my toilet.
Me after my dad has a shit:3:30
Think it would be more effective to have used a dirty toilet for video. But this is helpful. 👍
Coronavirus! 🤣
it’s a hot button!!
@@HomeRepairTutor For sure. Hopefully good practices will keep it from spreading.
Those gloves are horrible quality and value. I bought some at Lowe’s thinking the price would be worth it if they worked as well as the box claimed. My favorite are the black mechanic gloves from harbor freight. After that is the grey grippy ones from northern tool.
Oof... forgot to disinfect my toothbrush before using it again to brush my teef 😁
hahaha - perhaps he should have specified having a separate toothbrush as a cleaning tool - rather than just saying - disinfect it before you use it again.
What if you are cleaning a toilet and some of the dirty water goes into your glove?
Why are you wearing long sleeves ????
Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to ALaHYM with a voice of singing (Psalm 47:1) ! // SHLM & HaB (peace & love). The Name of the Creator is Hayah asher Hayah, as what He told Moshah (Exodus 3:14), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. There is a curse to the G-o-d name (Isaiah 65:11-12), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. All followers of the Messiah are to do the 7 appointed times (Leviticus 23), but no more animal sacrifices, following the Crucifixion of the Messiah. We are now of the order of MLK TSDQ (King, righteous), to Whom ABRaHM tithed. Ask the Messiah to be your personal Savior. He said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Hayah (Romans 3:23). The wages for sin is death but the gift of ALaHYM is Everlasting Life through Messiah Yahushgh our Master (Romans 6:23). That if you confess with your mouth the Master Yahushgh and believe in your heart that ALaHYM raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved (Romans 10:9). He Himself is an Atoning Offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world (1 John 2:2). The Messiah died on the cross, & Resurrected three days later (presenting Himself as First Fruits to the Father). Please ask Him to be your Savior. He is the ONLY way to Everlasting Life.
Animals....probally tons of people just watching...
What's the point of cleaning, it gets dirty again!
