I drove RDX and Mazda CX-90. I love the RDX handling, comfort, etc. However, I ended up with Mazda cx-90. The main reason was that Mazda is bigger and to me as an owner of two German Shepherds is more practical. Both cars have excellent handling, sporty appearance etc
Awesome suv. It's not possible to have a perfect vehicle or perfect for everyone, so great there are many choices to get perfect for each person as my RDX is perfect for our family and happy with track pad in this and our tlx and mdx, we also like touch screen in our 2020 Accord and it's layout, but Trac pad is better especially on uneven roadways and no fingers print. Only time I wish have touch is typing, so Acura should offer both not listen to reviewers especially those that don't own or intend to own and live with products. Also, screen is big enough for us and we don't need a 40 inch TV infrastructure of us, we have all we need.
I have 2021 RDX, tech with SH AWD. The car is reliable and great, I agree with your review. I might add beside the touch screen, type s, they need a hybrid as well.
2024 RDX checked all of the boxes for me. Very nice vehicle and I am enjoying it very much. One thing that needs to be taken into consideration is that it uses premium gas, which at over a dollar more per gallon can be a factor.
Wonderful review...I have a 2018 RDX and taking over my wife's 2022 Aspec soon (she's getting a new car) -love the handling and reliability of the car and maintainence has been pretty low.
David, what are your thoughts regarding Acura and ironing out first production year issues specifically with regard to the 2024 Acura Integra Type S? Has enough time gone by for rolling changes, or is it best to wait till 2025 model year or even beyond?
The SIZE of the RDX is bigger than a Lexus NX. The back seat & cargo room. The SH-AWD is far superior to the Lexus NX for driving dynamics. The ELS sound system is also one of the best sound systems. The reason I prefer the RDX over the MDX is for fuel economy, a much manageable size to drive in the city & it’s driving pleasure. You feel more connected to the road. The current RDX size is similar in size of previous generations of the MDX. We know the Honda Type R engine is made in Ohio. What are you waiting for Acura? ❤
7:00 Should definitely add Type S; axe ASPEC 9:00 No touchscreen in 2024 is a joke for a $50k+ vehicle *Here’s the biggest problem: No hybrid offering.*
I love my RDX! It drives like a sports sedan, I am confident driving it aggressively at times. The TTI does not bother me in native operation although using CarPlay it is finicky
Great review, as always. As a former MDX owner, when it was time for us to downsize (all 3 kids finally off to college), we went with the CRV instead. Averaging 34 mpg over 40k miles (way better than RDX, although not nearly as sporty/fun to drive of course). What are your thoughts ref. RDX vs CX5? CX5 is cheaper, perhaps just as engaging (or nearly so) to drive, better panel gaps and paint.
@@petewick8627, not sure about X5 being more reliable, as I've owned many BMW's since 2001 and reliable isn't a word that I would ever entertain into conversation lol. Also, I think an X3 would be a better comparo for an RDX or CX5.
I drove both and the RDX is light years better. The engine in the cx-5 and transmission don’t compare. The seats are so much better. Everything is better except for the price.
I hate that touchpad. Worst part is that it resets. For me it is a dealbreaker but I'm glad they are dropping it. Hopefully they will get rid of the turbo as there are known issues.
@@petewick8627 the 1.5T is having more headgasket issues over the 2.0 but they still exist. If you Google 1.5T headgasket that should give you a lot of information. In the Civic refresh for 2025 they have removed the 1.5T as an option.
Some of the tuning products are interchangeable. I picked up a one piece silicone intake for my rdx. It's the same one that they use on the type r. Took a couple of hours to install. You can feel the difference.
That's actually an A-Spec Advance, not just an A-Spec. You can tell because it has the heads-up display. It also has the adjustable thigh support, heated rear seats and steering wheel, Adaptive Damper System, and a few other minor features which are not included with the A-Spec.
I have a 2021 RDX with almost 90k miles and it's been perfect. Not a single problem. Great car.
Great review 👍! I love my 2022 Acura RDX A-Spec SH-AWD. The RDX is great in the snow. The SH-AWD is a blessing on heavy powder ski days.
My RDX is super reliable I don't have to worry about it if Acura makes a type s I will be buying it and I still keep my 2020 a spec

Just picked up my 2024 RDX Aspec………fantastic machine

Acura makes some great vehicles. I have an Integra A Spec and it's a blast to drive with excellent driving dynamics and fuel efficient also.

Good review. I would have liked to hear comparisons with the Genesis GV70.
I agree with you Acura should have a type-S in the RDX can you put a word in.

I did not like the touchpad for about a day or so. But after 1 or 2 days, no problem.

tbh i prefer not to have touchscreens as the fingerprints drive me crazy, imo buttons are great

We have a 21 RDX and it’s a great vehicle. Awesome handling, and quite a bit of pick-up.
I'm hopeful for the 2025 redesign. I love Lexus, but a similarly equipped RDX to a Lexus NX is $12k cheaper in Canada.
7:00 Should definitely add Type S; axe ASPEC

How is it compared with genesis, especially in higher trims?

That's what I thought. My rdx felt like a really nice sedan, solid and well made. Raised up on some big wheels.

RDX will be more luxurious. X-5 more reliable and better mpg

@@petewick8627I doubt it is more reliable and the turbo engine does not get much better mileage and it is a lawnmower compared to the engine in Acura.
A 2024 RDX was my second choice for replacing my 2016 RDX but I ended up going with a 2024 Lexus NX 350h instead.
It’s time for Acura to redesign the rdx and put a type s on it
RDX- Type S… done!
MDX Type S please😭
Next time in all your views please include prices thank you 🙏🏻

To me it's just a radio.
A great suv but it goes through a lot of gas. The turbo is great but the engine gets thirsty, especially with the SH- AWD.
Doesn't the RDX have a Detuned Civic Type R engine? Can you imagine IF Honda Shared the actual Civic type R engine: internal parts and tuning?
You are correct

I don't trust the turbo 🙄
I agree 100%. I have a V6 TLX with 160,000. I know I can run this to 250,000 easy. Bummed out we can’t get the V6 in the TLX any longer.
Is it true that the Acura RDX is worse than projected? With Type S, mpg must be abysmal- but mpg may not care to those buyers
26 avg mpg with my 2020 rdx. Pretty much average for a full size suv.
Glad you are reviewing a wide range of cars but your best reviews are with Lexus and Toyota. I prefer Lexus models.
