When MTV actually used to play music videos and this constantly shown when it came out I was a little kid but it made me obsessed with the chili's for life.
"Under the bridge downtown, where I drew some blood..." is directly related to Antony's well-known heroin addiction at the time. One of my all-time favorite bands, as they are all just fantastic musicians (especially Chad Smith on drums and my man Flea on that bass! I play bass myself and he is widely regarded as one of the BEST, especially in the Slap style he is so well-known for). Peace & Love from Georgia, Girl!
This is a band very much worth your time to delve into. As someone already mentioned, this song is a bit of a change of pace, and yet still 100% Peppers. Also as mentioned below, Blood Sugar Sex Magic is an absolute masterpiece.
Fantastic reaction to a great band a young gentleman taking RUclips by storm is ren -hi ren this video has had 3 million views in 2 weeks and it is pure genius worth a look and at the end has a great message no copyrights on this video so do not need to block it out love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
I became a chilli peppers fan when that cd came out in 1991. They did a stadium tour last year. They covered a Stevie wonder song called higher ground. Check it out🤘. Also will Ferrell and Chad Smith did a funny drum off bit on the Jimmy Fallon show. It's funny
I don't know if you have heard of Carpool karaoke but they appeared on an episode. If you want to get a glimpse of their personalities check it out. Very funny.
This song is a departure for RHCP. They typically have more of a hard edged funk sound. Songs like Give It Away and Suck My Kiss have that thumping groove they’re best known for. Both are worth reacting to 👍
If you get a chance, read Anthony's autobiography. It is absolutely riveting. This song is about how he gave everything he cared about away in order to get just one more high.
I'm late to the party, but look up the drum battle between Chad Smith and Will Ferrell on the Jimmy Fallon show. Also, if you liked the vibe to this song, then i'd guarantee that you'd love "Soul To Squeeze."
RHCP Live at Slane Castle is a FIRE concert. Flawless from start to finish. The sound is perfect!!!!! Choose any song from that concert to get a feel for them live.
Jon is the guitarist. Chad is the drummer and he imbraces the Will Farrell comparison so much they did a drum off on Jimmy Fallon. This might be the only time i've seen Flee(the bassist) clothed, so if they did walk in your front door you would definitely call the cops LOL link to the drum off ruclips.net/video/0uBOtQOO70Y/видео.html
I’m not sure there’s ever been a guitarist and bass player more in tune with each other than John Frusciante and Flea. Their interplay is magical, and I’m not even a big RHCP fan.
Ohhhhh I love some RHCP. I've seen them once and WOW what a show. Yep Chad Smith and Will Farrell look a lot alike. They've had drum offs on the Jimmy Fallon show...was fabulous
This band has so many great songs to check out. The album this song came from is one of my top 20 albums of the 90's. To many songs to mention. "Sir Psycho Sexy" is a fun poetic funky track you might wanna check out.
Great reaction. You mentioned what they might be like performing live? Well, they have a great complete concert video, Live at Slane Castle, from 2003 (versus this video, which is recent). The individual song videos from this concert video are readily available on RUclips. It would be great if you could react to one of those videos. I would suggest one or more of the following songs from those performances: Californication, Otherside, Parallel Universe, Venice Queen, or Throw Away Your Television. Would love to see you react to any of those. Thanks.
A little bit more about the back story of this song. During Anthony drug addiction, he would go under this bridge to do drugs, a very dangerous place. And while he was under the bridge, his friend and fellow band mate had died because of an overdose. Anthony didn’t go to his friend funeral, instead he went back to the bridge. This is Anthony low point that he speaking of. Where he drew some blood, and gave his life away. When he wrote this song, he had been clean a couple of years. But other members of the band was not. This is where he felt alienated, alone, and as bad as it was, it still wasn’t as bad as under the bridge. Comments on the official video, of people love ones, that gave their life away. Is so heartbreaking.
RHCP was one of my favorite bands as a kid and is still one of my favorite bands to this day. Me & My best friend would listen to Freaky Styley, TULMPP & Mother's Milk all day. And when Blood Sugar Sex Magik (which this song is from) came out we couldn't put that record down. The RHCP story is kind of a tragic Story Anthony's best friend and original guitarist Hillel Slovak died from an heroin overdose. However, that didn't get Anthony from stop using and would frequently go under this bridge in L.A. & do heroin with a bunch of gangbangers. Their new guitarist (and one of my favorite guitarist) John Frusciante also got addicted to heroin and left the band. I remember seeing an interview of him as a teenager in 1994 and he looked so emaciated from the drugs that it brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad that Anthony & John both kicked their addictions and got back together to make great music.
Blood Sugar Sex Magik the LP from which this song is on is top notch from start to finish. I'm sure you probably already have seen some comments, but check out Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell and Chad Smith drum-off. Thank you for the reaction and I'm off to check out your reaction to Metallica Master Of Puppets.
the drummer and will ferrel actually had a drum off on jimmy falon to find out who was the real Chad Smith (the name of the drumer hahaha) worth of givin it a watch
Read scar tissue, Anthony Kiedis book, it's a good read, he alienated himself cause of drug use, and he mentioned going under a bridge to do dope with gangs. The book is awesome and he has had a eventful life, clean now, hope he stays that way
You should watch Chad and Will Ferrell on Late Night w/Jimmy Fallon. Not asking for a reaction, but in your own time. Yes they look almost identical to each other, and it's hilarious.
A great version of just John and Anthony doing this acoustic. John and Anthony both had major heroin addictions back in the day. Shooting up doing their drugs under the bridge is kind of what this song was about. This is way back in the day. ruclips.net/video/DKOc2S1AkjE/видео.html
Last four sentence told you what is up. If you want to know. Every junkie knows that . Because we all went under the bridge too get high to forget our life to throw our life away.first sentence under the bridge- i drew some blood. It os heroin addiction.
The RHCP got so overplayed for my generation at least this is the music of my thirties for example which persisted well to my forties because they had a long run, but it was almost so overplayed that and almost got hit to be derogatory towards them. But the thing was they were a force of nature. I saw them in concert many times and like you said, this is one of their subdued songs. Yeah. Check out some of their up-tempo stuff if you want to see them driving people wild. Probably their most famous album for people of my generation that were younger and into them when they were new, well not new but a bit later in their career, is Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Just go pull up a playlist of that and start exploring and you will see how intense they really are. The other thing to be aware of and I really hope you go listen to the studio cut of this, is that they're doing it pretty close but the thing is on the studio cut as the song bills and at this point right now in it, they have some female backing vocals or at least some backing vocals that are in chorus way up high and it just adds this angelic transcendent quality to this. You've got to hear it.
Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning!
You want to see Will and Chad together? Here is something you will like .. a hilarious drum off between the two on Jimmy Fallon. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/0uBOtQOO70Y/видео.html
Hearing the backstory to songs is great, but i still urge you to go and hear the albumversions (of every song you do), because they often bring a different experience. This one sounds very flat to me, missing the chorus in that climax.
If you don't know the Lead singer was in the movie Point Break with Keanu Reeves and Flea the bald head member with the white guitar was in Back to the Future 2 and 3.
You probably won't be able to react to it, but here is the video of Chad Smith and Will Ferrell together, in a drum-off. ruclips.net/video/0uBOtQOO70Y/видео.html
At last some "sorta" rock music. Us rockers fill kina alienated . I rather pill my face off than listen to dimash Or Angelina Jordan. There over saturated on youtube. Yet true talent like . Hailey Rinehart And Morgan James get very little credit. Maybe 45 yrs in rock music 🎶 biz has broken my ears.
This song was EVERYWHERE in the summer of ‘91. The whole album is one of the best albums ever recorded. Blood Sugar Sex Magic.
When MTV actually used to play music videos and this constantly shown when it came out I was a little kid but it made me obsessed with the chili's for life.
Blood Sugar Sex Magic is one my favortie albums ever. I don't think there are any skippable track on it for me.
"Under the bridge downtown, where I drew some blood..." is directly related to Antony's well-known heroin addiction at the time. One of my all-time favorite bands, as they are all just fantastic musicians (especially Chad Smith on drums and my man Flea on that bass! They were on Jimmy Fallon together, they did a drum off. It was great
Yes, Brit! Chad and Will do a drum off on Fallon. It's GREAT!
I remember Jimmy Fallon would do that between the two of them a lot.
I’ve seen them live twice - once in 2005 and once in 2022, and they were amazing both times
Brings back my childhood and teen years😊 love this album!
John Frusciante was the one with the beanie and glasses on. Very interesting and unique individual to say the least. Musical genius some will say.
He is, virtuosic on the guitar for sure. And a great melodic writer.
Man, 30 years later and hitting the same notes. Classic band.
I was in the pit for their show at Fenway Park! The best show I’ve ever been to by far!
This is a band very much worth your time to delve into. As someone already mentioned, this song is a bit of a change of pace, and yet still 100% Peppers. Also as mentioned below, Blood Sugar Sex Magic is an absolute masterpiece.

This band is truly a "band of brothers". They truly respect and love each other after all these years.
Very funny.
You are gorgeous Britt. More Peppers please.
I saw them in 1992 at Lollapalooza the show was nuts and one of the best in my life!!! ❤from Canada 🇨🇦
This song is a departure for RHCP. They typically have more of a hard edged funk sound. Songs like Give It Away and Suck My Kiss have that thumping groove they’re best known for. Both are worth reacting to 👍
Masterpiece of a song
Please react to more of their songs
If you get a chance, read Anthony's autobiography. It is absolutely riveting. This song is about how he gave everything he cared about away in order to get just one more high.
One of the best books I have ever read. I go back to it every few year and it’s great every time.
Will Ferrell and Chad Smith did a funny drum off bit on the Jimmy Fallon show. It's funny
I've seen this fantastic band in London in 1996 great reaction
I'm late to the party, but look up the drum battle between Chad Smith and Will Ferrell on the Jimmy Fallon show. Also, if you liked the vibe to this song, then i'd guarantee that you'd love "Soul To Squeeze."
I’d highly recommend “Soul to Squeeze” by them if you like this song.
Chilies are very very good live, for me they’re like the Rolling Stones of America, they love what they do and they’ll be making music until they drop
RHCP Live at Slane Castle is a FIRE concert. Flawless from start to finish. The sound is perfect!!!!! Choose any song from that concert to get a feel for them live.

Hahahahahahaaa I love this entire comment!
The thing on Fallon was so good 😂
React to Give It Away from Howard too, is a really cool performance 😊
I’m not sure there’s ever been a guitarist and bass player more in tune with each other than John Frusciante and Flea. Their interplay is magical, and I’m not even a big RHCP fan.
💙💙💙🎼💙💙💙 ... nice ! Great song
Ohhhhh I love some RHCP. I've seen them once and WOW what a show. Yep Chad Smith and Will Farrell look a lot alike. They've had drum offs on the Jimmy Fallon show...was fabulous
Will Ferrel, Chad Smith ad Ben Roethlisburger are all 3 the same person. I'm convinced of it! 😂
They've only been around since 1983. The song is about him doing hard-core drugs under a bridge in LA.
you should watch this live at Slane Castle, Awesome version huge crowd.
This band has so many great songs to check out. The album this song came from is one of my top 20 albums of the 90's. To many songs to mention. "Sir Psycho Sexy" is a fun poetic funky track you might wanna check out.
My first time hearing just the opening chords, I knew this song was going to be amazing.
I didn't know the half of it.....
🤣😱
Check out the Chad Smith - Will Ferrell drum off on the Jimmy Fallon Show it's on RUclips.
Hope you went to check the studio version after this. This is a nice live performance, but the original recording is epic.
Great Reaction Video, this Song Was EPIC
RHCP have hits from the 80's until today. LEGENDS!!!
Scar Tissue, Otherside, Californication, By the Way, Snow (Hey Oh), Dani California, Aeroplane from what I haven't seen you react to already
Great reaction. You mentioned what they might be like performing live? Well, they have a great complete concert video, Live at Slane Castle, from 2003 (versus this video, which is recent). RHCP never disappoints!
You have no idea how crazy it can get live on stage.
Blood Sugar Sex Magik the LP from which this song is on is top notch from start to finish. Thank you for the reaction and I'm off to check out your reaction to Metallica Master Of Puppets.
Scar tissue is another awesome song
Re really being under the bridge Kiedis told in one of the interviews, that it was an actual place, where he used to buy drugs at that time.
You need to listen to their song "Californication".
This song was originally written by AK as a poem. Rick Rubin liked it that much, he talked AK into making it a song.
That was explained in the video
60 minutes just did an interview with them showcasing their athleticism and longevity. a few are 60 and John is 52. STILL HIGH ENERGY!!!!
3:30 to answer your question it was emotionally not literally
He doesn’t have the best voice ever but still is one of my favorite vocalists ever
Like the "Peppers", and Flea is one of my favorite bass players.
You should check out some Black Crows....She Talks to Angels is a good one
the drummer and will ferrel actually had a drum off on jimmy falon to find out who was the real Chad Smith (the name of the drumer hahaha)
worth of givin it a watch
The rumor was Anthony's moms church choir sang the chorus for the album
that's john's mother, you see them recording this choir on "Funky Monks documentary" on youtube
you gotta react to give it away by red hot chili peppers, also from the howard stern show
You have to watch Will Ferrell and Chad Smith doing a "drum off" on the Jimmy Fallon show.
Listen to the Slane Castle concert! 🔥
I COULD HAVE LIED, HEY, STRIP MY MIND, SCAR TISSUE, WET SAND.
Check out scar tissue, def. Dark Necessities, Black Summer, Californication, all their songs are awesome.
Check out Live at Slane Castle
I'm curious about your reaction to "the drummer" red hot chili peppers 😉
You should have reacted to the official music video
Read scar tissue, Anthony Kiedis book, it's a good read, he alienated himself cause of drug use, and he mentioned going under a bridge to do dope with gangs. The book is awesome and he has had a eventful life, clean now, hope he stays that way
Chumba Wumba "Tubthumping"
THIS SONG REMINDS ME OF SITTING ON THE BEACH WATCHING THE CITY BURN DURING THA L.A. RIOTS MY SENIOR YEAR IN 1992
RHCP - blood sugar sex majik - Woodstock 94. It gives you the full live experience.
Weird Al did a RHCP parody that was about the Flintstones you should check it out.
You should watch Chad and Will Ferrell on Late Night w/Jimmy Fallon. Not asking for a reaction, but in your own time. Yes they look almost identical to each other, and it's hilarious.

Snl, flea and will Ferrell drum off. They are the same. RHCP "californication", that's where it's at. They too dope
You know a band is good when they are parodied by Weird Al.
Last four sentence told you what is up. If you want to know. Every junkie knows that . Because we all went under the bridge too get high to forget our life to throw our life away.first sentence under the bridge- i drew some blood. It os heroin addiction.

Do react to Dark Necessities by the RHCP
Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning! Listen to The Warning!
Californication
Do you now a band called NIGHTWISH? Listen to ther song Ghost Love Score from de Wacken live concert from 2013
I think it will blow your mind .
Lily Allen
Somewhere only we know
Listen to give it away from the same Howard stern interview
Charli XCX
Break the Rules
Yeah he was under a bridge literally buying drugs under an underpass where there was a gang that was going to threaten to kill him
Is it just me but does Anthony look like Frank Zappa?
You want to see Will and Chad together? Here is something you will like .. a hilarious drum off between the two on Jimmy Fallon. Enjoy!

I'm not a Red Chili Fan but the great song. Now that we heard the original song you need to react to Weird Al's parody Bedrock Anthem
What?
its about him doing heroin under a bridge thats why he was seperate from his band

your video screen is too light
He shooting up that Boy under the Bridge. Hopeless
I can't listen to this, maybe it gets better but he's old and pitchy.
Great song though, great album, great band.
Stern is known for having some great performances however this was not one of them.
боже ужали мегя
Anthony's voice is not what it once was.
You need to hear the original.
He was amazing when we were all younger.
