@@weshouldsaveourselves6780 How very fortunate for you. Don't try to tell me that my experiences with the police are invalid just because yours have been positive. Check yourself.
On the contrary - you are at liberty to use “reasonable force” to defend yourself. And that is reasonable *in the stress of the moment*, but only sufficient to stop/neutralise the attack; you aren’t allowed to retaliate or punish. @blackbeltbarrister is a good source of info on this point.
@@captainbeaky Ah, yes. What reasonable force would that be? If a 6'0 man, or even several of them, are coming after me when I'm just trying to walk to work, what kind of super-powered "reasonable force" should I muster out of my 5'2 120lb body? If I can't legally carry pepper spray to help me stop my attackers, I am at a disadvantage, and that makes me ~reasonably~ furious.
@Sad Gittarian. Your post was spot on. And I speak from experience too. Maybe the person who got perfect police protection is not indigenous. Sounds about right.
@@juliabishop1968 Right! I am glad to hear that they feel safe, I wouldn't /want/ them to worry. But everyone feels powerless sometimes, and if bad people are going to do bad things regardless of the law, then why can't we legally carry self-defence weapons? Just boggles me.
It is pitiful that people would have to rely on household tat in order to defend themselves. In the UK only criminals are armed, the public are at the mercy of murderers, rapists and robbers.
@@mikeb7826 this, its not exactly like the uk is having any massive crime waves. I do think the self defense laws are stupid with regards to defending your home, but on the street i dont want everyone carrying shit.
Bravo! I actually have one of those, its strait made of wood about 3 foot long with a nice handy brass ball on one end containing a compass within... I just turned 40 last week so i think it's about time my back started aching ever so slightly 😁 Also have you ever seen those tools that the Viccys used to carry called "life preservers" made out of wood?
My stick is hazel. It has a hook on the end. There is literally a whole martial art for walking sticks lol. If you are going to carry a stick look into striking techniques and some moves you can practice. The first rule is you must not lose the stick. if your assailant gets hold of it you are going to regret carrying a stick for sure. 🤕 you can fit a wrist lanyard but this restricts some stick moves, as one end is then attached to you. Sticks are legal. You don't even need a disability. It can be a fashionable affectation 😎
As a Czech, what I have just seen is absolutely shocking for me. This is the government that absolutely doesn’t care about their citizens safety. In Czech Republic, you can buy & carry anything, knife (any size or shape), knuckle duster, expandable baton, pepper spray, stun gun, and so on, and our crime rate is for some reason way lower that the crime rate all across UK. Coincidence? Nah
Czech Republic, Poland etc. have much lower crime than in the UK. at the same time, the right to self-defense is much less restrictive. However, I cannot imagine that the same legal rules would apply in the UK, I mean social differences. I can already see, in my mind's eye, young shits with masks on their faces, running around with knives and pepper spray because the law allows them. What works in some European countries will not necessarily work in the UK. besides, this peace will soon end with the influx of illegal immigration from third world countries to our countries, which the EU forced us to do
I believe that the reason crime is so prevalent, today in the U.K, is the fact that assailants know that an individual cannot and probably will not, fight back effectively. Criminals are cowardly and opportunistic; they hunt in packs but have no loyalty. The appalling murder rate notwithstanding, a citizen is very limited in that which he may carry. Personally, if it is a matter of saving my life and protecting family, i will use whatever force i see fit at the time. I truly believe that if some scumbag is considering an attack, he will most certainly think twice if he has good reason to think that you may retaliate. It is high time that the victim was protected and law enforcement stopped kow-towing to thugs.
@@mad-pit3832 Only in certain areas like the big cities, and that's down to gangs and criminal organisations. Plus, they have an insane influx of criminals coming in from other countries on a daily basis, from Mexico mainly. Most American towns and suburbs are incredibly safe, and even if they weren't necessarily safer, I would feel safer carrying around a gun, a knife and pepper spray.
Pretty soon we are all going to have our teeth removed. Just in case we bite someone in self defense. PC Plod : “ Is that an offensive weapon I see in your mouth? “
Nobody in the uk will have teeth soon . Getting registered with an NHS dentist is impossible…..dentists want more money so you have to go private.and if you are registered with an NHS dentist there is a scale of charges…so consequently poor people will not have teeth soon..
You should try the self-defence umbrella, worth £100. Very difficult to prosecute that as a weapon, as its a reinforced umbrella pole,no different to any other umbrella. Its like a extendable baton in strength, but the Law doesn't recognise this.
The law is that you can carry anything you want (within the confines of the law) as long as you don't carry it for protection. At that point it becomes a weapon. So a self defence umbrella would be seen as a weapon as it is marketed as a self defence weapon. Just the label self defence implies an intent, and British law is all about intent. If I carry a walking stick for defence it is illegal, if I carry a walking stick because my knees are wrecked and it helps me walk then that is my intent for carrying my stick. If it is then used as a defensive weapon then that would be legal as the item was not being carried as a defence weapon.
@@nospoon4799It's not marketed as such, it is manufactured and sold as unbreakable umbrella, as a car can run over it, unscathed. More of an extra strong, wind resistant umbrella. So fully legal, nothing to break my balls with. If you hit someone with it, their fault , not ours.
@@mikesmith8313 Preaching to the choir. My point was in British law intent is everything. Meaning intent to defend is an intent to violence. So just make sure you say it was an umbrella not a special martial arts umbrella. Then all will be good. For example if the sun was shining and we were in the middle of a drought then what intent would you have to be carrying an umbrella? I mean thrash away but it had better be raining.
@@nospoon4799No, it's common sense, no one criticises an umbrella, you buffoon. Umbrella's wether they are £1 shop bragains or reinforced £100 are all the same, in the eyes of the Law. There are no martial arts umbrellas with spikes, nothing like that. Some clever idea to spend £100 on a exceptionally resilient umbrella, ideas to break someone's will power to steal from you, or an excellent defence against a knife. No one wants to spend £100 on it, that's the problem
The alarm is actually a noble item. You sound the alarm to notify everyone around there is danger. While you sacrifice yourself. The result is only one person died, which is yourself, while the rest of the people are safe.
Yeah man hold on while I sound an alarm people are gonna stare and do absolutely nothing "because the British public are selfish" people would rather just pretend like nothing is happening then try to be a hero fuck it though right it's only someone getting robbed or raped why should they be allowed to sufficiently carry self defence

The laws in this country are shameful. This is why the crime rate is endemic... I personally think its better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.... We need another petition started
You miss the point entirely. The law is fine, most people are just too clueless to figure out what it means. Defence is about intent. What you carry is about the intent you carry it for. Walking stick for example. Intent is to aid in mobility. If it is used as a defensive weapon then that is outside of the intent for having it in your possession in the first place. If your intent is to carry something for defence you are screwed legally as your intent was always to use that object as a weapon if attacked. Simple really.
@@nospoon4799your comment is so braindead it pisses me off.. youd rather want people to be at mercy of attackers, getting robbed and hurt than them being able to defend themselfs. @@nospoon4799 We do know the law and we think it is a shamefull law. Lets say the attacker has a dog without a leash and his plan is to rob you. Give away everything you worked hard for because it ain't worth your life or maybe run away but almost no way you will be able to outrun the dog and last option is fight back at a huge disadvantage. Don't know about you but I work hard to earn money. I dont wanna just give it up or my belongings. Also this situation happened to me and I went with last option not because I wanted to choose last option but because my body is trained that way. In a fight or flight response I automatically choose fight. Welp almost died and the police did not show up as they thought I am at a safe place after I went inside the house. This is what the law states about self defense here in the U.K : "In the UK, anyone can use reasonable force to protect themselves or others if a crime is taking place. This includes fighting back in self-defence if you're attacked or tackling an intruder to the ground. If someone else is being attacked, you can use force to stop the assault and defend yourself in the process." You can use any reasonable force to defend yourself or others from attack, the force has to be proportionate to the threat, that is the key , for example if someone gets to close to you you can push them away to avoid getting attacked, if they punch you you can use a punch to stop the attack, the force used has to be equal to the force of the attack, so if someone comes at you with a knife and the only way for you to escape is to kill that person that would be seen as reasonable force. What gets most people in trouble regarding self defense is carrying on the attack after the threat has be neutralized, so incapacitating your attacker then kicking them whilst on the ground. the law allows you to use reasonable force to allow you to neutralize the threat and escape, so people in the U.K are not defenseless you just have to know the law. I will add you are not allowed to carry anything that can be use as an offensive weapon in the U.K, that includes anything modified that could potentially be used as an offensive weapon. BUT if you should pick up a piece of wood whilst being attacked by an armed attacker that would be classed as reasonable force in that situation so long as you don't continue the attack after the threat is neutralized, a good technique is to issue warnings of to stay back whilst backing off, this proves you where ever only in a defensive posture should you need to use force, RECORD EVERYTHING IF YOU CAN !
that is all true on paper. but the reality of a real threat and attack does not fall in easily with this so called legal definition. so most actual self defence or self protection is likely to get redefined by the police during interview to make it look like you committed an assault, in order to get a conviction out of you. furthermore if you even say you were defending yourself then you have more or less admitted that you potentially committed a crime. so it is more about what you say when it comes to the police and the CPS, rather than what really happened. they couldn't care less about the latter. the reality is this: if you do get pulled for defending yourself against an attacker, too well let us say, then my advice is keep your mouth shut and wait for a lawyer. when you are in a real situation, the fear, adrenaline, and urgency of the situation, where your life may be on the line and rapid response is required, what you are forced to do will more than likely not satisfy the requirements of the law. furthermore a doubt any judge understands anything about street violence and most police have never been attacked on the street. so they haven't got a clue.
I remember when I was at UNI in Luton a drug dealer broke with a knife and got arrested with trespassing and passion with a deadly weapon. AND yet I also got arrested for assault as I smashed him over the head with a bed side lamp several times and some how knocked him out. This was 3am and that was an instinct reaction, after 1 of my flatmates had called the police who showed up 20 minutes later, the police looked around my home to see if I was in passion of drugs after arresting my and interrogated my for hours!! Luckily all charges were dropped against me but it still pissed me off big time
I don’t go anywhere without my self defence device (in the UK). It is made primarily of tough metal, weights over 100kg and has the power to bend steel. It is my Invacare Storm electric wheelchair. It once ran over my own foot and broke my ankle.
Professor Xavier approves! There was a video from Sweden a while back where some immigrants were attacking someone I think and one of them got rammed by an electric wheelchair
Laser pointers are legal to carry and some can be insanely powerful, would make a much easier job getting away from an attacker who has to completely cover their eyes and will 100% have total night blindness from a bright laser being pointed at their direction. Though this would be illegal but I'm sure you could argue it was reasonable force getting away from your attacker if they had a weapon
You’re pushing it with the torch as well, it’s got a tactical bezel on the end, also known as a DNA catcher, it’s designed to pierce / scrape the flesh so will be classed as offensive. Some of the tactical pens also have a similar feature, the copper might not know what they’re looking at, but I wouldn’t buy an expensive torch with that feature because there’s a good chance you won’t be getting it back.
Totally agree. Anything that you use which can be used as a weapon can and probably will be treated as carrying a weapon if you cause injury, especially those torches and pens. Even these UV marker sprays, my local Police say that despite them not being illegal if you cause injury by spraying it in someone's face it's assault and therefore a criminal offence.

I have fifty years martial arts study and can also be jailed for protecting myself, such is the law in Scotland. I have no problem breaking a bone or several if necessary and I won't be phoning the jackboots!
In Boots they sell hair lacquer in small handbag sizes, anyone who has had solvent based lacquer in their eyes knows just how useful the effect would be sprayed in the face of an attacker!
Thanks for sharing this Video, I'm the current times we have to start researching what is Legal in the UK and what is not, self defence is important 👌👍
Do whatever it takes to defend yourself against death or personal injury...no laws or police can defend you 24/7...better to be judged by 12 than be carried by 6
I'll take an educated guess here and assume you are not as stupid as you seem and this is just an oversight. But honestly I cannot fathom paying someone to protect me 27 hours a day 4 days a week. Good luck finding someone who wants that though!
Is there anything like a silent alarm that sends your GPS location to the police to help you out in case of an emergency? I mean, a self-defence object that can cause injuries could be helpful but sometimes the aggressors might be 3 or 4 sometimes 5 people...it's always better to preserve life IMHO, you might knockout one and get stabbed in the neck by the others...never risk your life of they want your money or phone etc...your family will suffer immensely.
Yes..the same thing in all the EU... everything is illegal.. I was researching about the telescopic sticks and i found a " tactical whip " as a great defense tool.. of course in Spain, or in any other EU Country this thing is illegal... but i have an idea.. I could carry a Water Supply Line or - this braided metal hose that we have in our bathrooms behind the sink.. you can get them quite long and they are so heavy and durable, that thing should have a good grip also.. And if it happens that i had to use it - well .. then i had it with me because I wanted to change one in my apartment.. It has a ball-like end just like a tactical whip. And another one on the other end - for your arm preventing it from slipping. Also - it can be coiled and it will not take much space in your backpack or something.. actually I'm looking for something against big aggressive dogs that we have running around loose.. for an attack from humans we probably need something more immediate, something that fits into a pocket
Self defence in this country is laughable! What constitutes reasonable force? How do you prove it was reasonable? An alarm? If I heard an alarm right now, I'd probably ignore it, there are so many things it could be, you aren't likely being attacked on a busy street, to be honest shouting would be more effective, I mean even late at night in my room if I heard someone yelling, "Help!" I'd take notice. Having pepper spray,a stun gun, a knife or brass knuckles is far more likely to disable an attacker, at the point you intend to take away my right to safety, you forfeit yours, proportionate force is irrelevant, however much it takes to disable you, if you die, it was your own fault, it's hard to determine what level of force will be employed during an attack and if you successfully defuse the situation and avoid injury, how do you even prove it was ever a risk? I've been stabbed, had a stanley blade pulled on me and slashed with a torn can (still have a scar on my face) anything can be a weapon! You COULD order a one finger brass knuckle, or you could just wear a big heavy ring with a suitable shape to concentrate the force of a punch! I could wear 4 big chunky rings everywhere I go no bother, with the added benefit I'm not reaching into my pocket if I get caught off-guard. Of course running is always going to be preferred, but in a situation where I am forced to fight, I don't want to be at any more of a disadvantage and believe me, criminals carry weapons! As an ex heroin addict, I met a few people who swore by carrying a blade or brass knuckles wherever they went. A criminal by definition breaks the law, why would they care about that when deciding on whether to take a weapon or not? Essentially advice on self-defence amounts to, "be physically fit so you can run or fight, hope they don't have a weapon and yell and hope someone actually calls the police." and on that note, my partner and I had someone kicking the door. 50 minutes! That's how long the police took to show up, guy was well gone by then, had he been intent on getting in, he could have raped her, stabbed us both AND had a good rifle through our belongings and made his escape before they were near!
What a joke, so we give up and let these attackers do what they want and we can't defend ourselves.. wtf... I'd rather do the time taking someone out or down protecting my loved ones... Police are a joke. None of them can be trusted either., I'm definitely going to protect my family doing what I have to and I don't care what the old bill do.. my family's my life and I'll go out protecting them.. thanks for he informative video. Really appreciate it. Best wishes
Definitely boils down to who you get when it comes to police interaction. I purchased a deactivated Second World War rifle, tat turned out to have been tampered with, making it totally illegal. Once I raised it with the police and reported the seller, they turned round and said as long as it won't fire, it doesn't matter. Yet under the law, and if I'd had someone who knew, it could have been me facing up to five years in prison...
Malc how about a canvas grocery sack with a bar of soap and a couple of hard apples. It's just lunch and a wash. But a shot to the groin or upside someone's face would slow them down.
In my younger years, I traveled a lot. I would buy a "souvenir knife" every day, and insure that I had a printed receipt, with that day's date on it. That way...if stopped be the local constabulary, my "cover story" was that I hadn't made it back to my motel room yet. I'm 68 now, and still have a drawer full of switch blades, daggers and sheath knives of every shape and size.
Crazy over here! Any and everyone should be allowed to defend them selves! We need a form of second amendment over here! The criminals don’t care about the law so we should be armed against them! Best wishes brother 👍🏽👍🏽😎

The issue with us in the UK not legally being allowed to carry anything for self defence is the fact that we cannot really train to use it My thoughts are carry something like a tactical pen but learn how you would use it and drill that over and
Some karate classes teach these things when you've trained enough to show you not a numbty. 🙂 My local one does specific self defence aimed at women, and people with smaller builds. That's some very interesting non weapon, weapon choices. I would be so pissed off if I got arrested for carrying an aerosol can. You have no right to self defense? By contrast, we have stand your ground laws where I'm at, meaning you are not obligate to retreat when threatened and can use appropriate force in self defense including lethal force if necessary.

we do have stand your grounds laws in the UK ! there is no duty to retreat , and you can meet force with force and even kill the aggressor (Chism 1967) although any force must be reasonable . in your own home you can use force that amounts to disproportionate force legally ! you can use firearms as well but you cannot get a permit for self defence. in a private house / land , you can carry any legal weapon / legal firearm however in a public place you cannot carry anything for self defence - which this video talks about unlike the US a private citizen does not need to be duptised to make arrests etc, any person can arrest anyone whom he reasonably suspects to guilty of an indictable offence or for a breach of the peace, or to apprehend persons unlawfully at large and may use reasonable force ! (resisting a lawful arrest by a citizen is a crime and is a potential indictable charge ) the courts also ruled that there is a general duty "among citizens to prevent felony" ( The Queen vs Duffy 1963)
There is no legal self defensive items for civilians under English law. Any item that you carry with the intention to harm others is illegal, even for self defense purposes. The act of self defence might, depends on the particular circumstance, legal but carrying an item for the purpose of self defense in itself is illegal. This is my understanding of the English position but it could be wrong or incomplete.
One look at the thumbnail of this video reveals the absolutely PITIFUL state of Britain today. A country which has disarmed its own law abiding citizens, not punishing the wrongdoer, but punishing the LAW ABIDING with blanket bans across every type of thing that a law abiding person may carry to defend themselves with. It’s illegal to carry ANY item for the ‘purpose’ of defending yourself. You are literally, if attacked, supposed to ‘look around you’ and utilise something that’s lying around on the street where you are being attacked, and use that item, if you are lucky enough to FIND anything while you’re being attacked, to use ONLY ‘reasonable force’ against your attacker. What a bloody sad state of affairs.
It's honestly stupid our law system like paper spray? Like atleast let us carry pepper spray like bruh it's to keep people safe. I bet you that the deaths in the uk would be low if we had our own self defence items
The file is great for a specific profession. Gotta work with what you have, like a handiman can carry some screwdrivers and a fireman can have a small prybar. As a gravedigger I always I have a pocket full of sand. If need be I can throw a handful and burry them before they know what hit’em 😂

Um... wtf? When did it become illegal to carry a weapon for self defense in the UK? I know it was a long time ago, but I'm really curious about how and why this came about. It's really messed up that people are not allowed to defend themselves effectively. Coming from a place where I can legally carry a gun for self defense without a permit, it's very strange that the government wants people in Britain to be defenseless.
The UK rewards criminals, it’s how the government creates revenue from prisons. It’s all a business. I admire those that can safely use a gun for self defence.

Country should be totally crime free to have a law like this. I wonder why people are not renouncing UK citizenship. Self defense should be ones right.
You can use self defence, but you can't throw the first punch/kick/hit with rolling pin ect. So taking weapons with you is going equipped for a crime, because it looks like you want to start a fight. It's mostly to stop kids, because if you're an adult your more likely to have a sensible reason why you have that thing. If they touch you, swing at you, or threaten you with a weapon; you are allowed to defend yourself. You are also allow to help someone who is less able to defend themselves, and are being attacked by that person. You just can't be the aggressor. It's also important to explain that there is a crime called verbal assault (in the UK and most of the world). You can be arrested for it if you threaten someone, or use aggressive language, or use hate speech. You can't hit someone for doing this to you. But I know some Americans have gotten in trouble before for swearing at the police, because they think everyone has the same free speech laws. The police also don't need a reason to stop you, and they have the right to search you, your car, and your bags here.
If you are carrying an item for self defense it has premeditation, not just grabbing the nearest object to protect yourself, you're open to prosecution in the UK.
wrong! self defence and weapon law are seperate and totally different why cant people get this through their heads ? the prevention of crime act 1953 makes it a crime to carry anything to CAUSE INJURY its DOES NOT EFFECT YOU RIGHT TO SELF DEFENCE you will not lose your right to self defence just because you used an offensive weapon ! if the force used is reasonable then you will not be charged with any assault but you will face offensive weapon charges instead see R vs Fagan 1973 also the prevention of crime act DOES NOT apply in a private place , the keeping of a baseball bat etc for self defence is legal as well !
This topic always makes me quite depressed. I am thankful that I live in a part of the country where I dont have to live in fear, people arent walking around with knives threatening to 'wet me' because of some perceived offence I have caused them. I am grateful for that and I really do feel very sorry for ordinary people for who all of the above is a possibility. At the end of the day I think British justice can be very fair but it will hold you accountable for your actions. If you break into y house and we are in bed, I will stand at the top of the stairs and shout that the police are on the way so you'd better take that TV quick. If, after that, you start coming up the one and only stair case to me and the wife, then you declare your intent to do us harm and, well, all bets are off and I will justify my actions in court.
My car key has a kubaton, monkey fist and a rape alarm on. I'd rather be arrested for self defence than attacked or murdered without putting up a fight. I'm not strong at all, these make me feel safer. Im in England. Bought them all from ebay.

A can of antiperspirant deodorant would probably be better from an effectiveness and legal standpoint. If you get questioned there are few plausible reasons for carrying a can of wd40 at all times but everyone needs deodorant, right? Also wd40 isn't that bad if you get it in your eyes/mouth, stings a bit and doesn't taste great but won't incapacitate an attacker, if you get dosed in the eyes with antiperspirant you won't be able to open them for a good few minutes and it'll cause you to cough and gag uncontrollably f you inhale it.

Nah
It is simple really. You can't carry weapons. A weapon has an intent to be used against another person. British law is all about intent.
exactly
Czech Republic, Poland etc. have much lower crime than in the UK. at the same time, the right to self-defense is much less restrictive. However, I cannot imagine that the same legal rules would apply in the UK, I mean social differences. I can already see, in my mind's eye, young shits with masks on their faces, running around with knives and pepper spray because the law allows them. What works in some European countries will not necessarily work in the UK. besides, this peace will soon end with the influx of illegal immigration from third world countries to our countries, which the EU forced us to do
I'm surprised learning martial arts is legal in the UK. Our self defense laws are utterly pathetic
Well then you're stupid, look at America and the out of control weapon laws, and yet they have a higher crime rate per capita than we do.

@@nospoon4799No, it's common sense, no one criticises an umbrella, you buffoon.

Give away everything you worked hard for because it ain't worth your life or maybe run away but almost no way you will be able to outrun the dog and last option is fight back at a huge disadvantage. Don't know about you but I work hard to earn money. I dont wanna just give it up or my belongings. This is what the law states about self defense here in the U.K :
"In the UK, anyone can use reasonable force to protect themselves or others if a crime is taking place. This includes fighting back in self-defence if you're attacked or tackling an intruder to the ground. If someone else is being attacked, you can use force to stop the assault and defend yourself in the process."
You can use any reasonable force to defend yourself or others from attack, the force has to be proportionate to the threat, that is the key , for example if someone gets to close to you you can push them away to avoid getting attacked, if they punch you you can use a punch to stop the attack, the force used has to be equal to the force of the attack, so if someone comes at you with a knife and the only way for you to escape is to kill that person that would be seen as reasonable force.

Laser pointers are legal to carry and some can be insanely powerful, would make a much easier job getting away from an attacker who has to completely cover their eyes and will 100% have total night blindness from a bright laser being pointed at their direction.
Though this would be illegal but I'm sure you could argue it was reasonable force getting away from your attacker if they had a weapon
Gloves with metal knuckle-guards are great and 100% legal

Metal insulated water bottles seem quite effective
I feel we should all have the right to defend ourselves in the UK... pepper spray at the very least..
I truly feel for yall. You all should have the damn right to defend yourself.
Crazy over here! Any and everyone should be allowed to defend them selves! We need a form of second amendment over here! The criminals don’t care about the law so we should be armed against them! Best wishes brother 👍🏽👍🏽😎
I live in New York State, we have the same basic stupid laws as you. If you have any means of escape then you are not allowed to defend yourself. Yes we can carry a fire arm but we're not allowed to use it, lol. Other states differ though
Thanks for the info! Its a crazy time we live in! Best wishes friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎
@@MadDogSurvival I live in Malaysia, and here the law was given from the UK so it’s the same law as UK. And you barely can self defense. If you hurt a intruder, you might even get arrested. Stupid law from the UK.

we do ! where do you think the us got idea from ! article 7 of the bill of rights 1688
The issue with us in the UK not legally being allowed to carry anything for self defence is the fact that we cannot really train to use it
My thoughts are carry something like a tactical pen but learn how you would use it and drill that over and
I`d rather punch their ugly face than fiddle around with a pen, only had to do it once about 30 years ago and it worked fine.
Some karate classes teach these things when you've trained enough to show you not a numbty. 🙂 My local one does specific self defence aimed at women, and people with smaller builds.
The Sensei's favourite one to teach is batton training with a small cheep umbrella.
It's pretty easy to translate the katta for syth, to a umbrella instead. That way you can practice till like the punch's, kicks and sweeps, it becomes second nature.
Thanks, Malcolm. Yup in UK. You are a Smurf. Same as Japan. In one playlist.
You just forgot one item that makes a good defence (sort of); a handbag! How many grannies sent criminals packing with the force of a handbag. LOL
The Prevention Of Crime Act 1953 makes it illegal to merely "intend" to use any article to injure anyone, even in self-defence.
The criminals are all very grateful that everyone is completely unarmed.
Don't get a tactical pen just imagine sitting in court and them showing the pen you made someone bloody with and them saying how it said tactical pen. just use a regular pen it works just the same
Nowadays in the Nanny State even an Opinel the favorite of little boy scouts would be illegal, as the blade has a locking mechanism, absolutely silly and ridiculous. Thank you for the nice channel, very good
American: which shot gun is best for home defence.
English: Which pen is best for home defense.
😂😂😂😂😂
But the Libs in our country (USA) are working furiously at taking away our gun rights. And, our upcoming youth are absolute morons (most, not all) Mr. Mossberg and Mr. Taurus are in my closet tucked in with my Coach and Michael Korrs purse collection and if hubby is away, you best not try to come into my home. My dog is the gate keeper and will alert me and the rest is up to me and I know what I'm doing. However, we would have to lure someone into our home if they were perpetrating shit outside. Kind of make them chase me and then boom! still very risky but hubby says even the noise made when racking it will make them run. How did our two, civilized, beautiful, intelligent, loving countries become this mess!!! It makes me sick. For myself and for you folks too.
Sounds like some police may be trying tp meet an arrest quota...a oroblem in many places here in the YS. I wouldn't put it past some officers to ding someone fir carrying a full coin purse just because it's heavy
I was a child in the 70's and 80's. No one thought twice about having a lock knife, flick knife, massive Rambo Bowie knife etc.
Shouldn’t the citizens do a petition/protest against the tyrannical self defense laws? Really, I mean I thought the UK was very democratic
Yeah- they have a democratic tyranny.
no because 99.99 support these stupid bans and in fact want more bans
if you just mention you want cs spray made legal you will be shounted at " this is not america you are a paranoid we dont want wapons here the criminals will also arm up" etc etc bullshit

Strobe lights are not illegal . I have an Olight X7 marauder 12,000 lumen strobe even at 50 metres whoever is in front of you cannot see a thing apart from bright light and at shorter distances its devastating in the right environment . Imagine fighting a blind man which is what they will be .
Some strobes are designed to put out an sos signal some are designed as a self defense device .
Got a neighbour from hell who has told me he is going to knife me then cut my throat so the police had done nothing to help me so have taken the advice in this video so thank you. The U.K has become a cess pit of crime and murder. You should be allowed to defend yourself regardless due to the high crime in the U.K.
I'd like to see some of these tried out
I’m planning to buy a tactical pen. Are you 100% sure it is ok to buy one in the UK?
you need help buddy
My son was threatened with a zombie knife two days ago after a fist fight that he won, he is was ganged up by 3 older boys, and one pulled out the blade. Just bought him a can of the spray dye, it's pretty dangerous out on the streets right now
A key can be quite effective when it comes to self defence..
When I hear a britt criticize American gun laws, this is the type of outcome they want
Yea but they do not have kids stealing parents guns and shooting a different school up each week, mass shootings so common that most fail to make the news all bar the local to where they happened, they do not have mass murders of families during arguments because a firearm was bought out in rage, many many many many many many many many many many many things that have made the US a simply messed up mass of people on the edge of sanity and hell on earth.
So the Uk is not so bad in what they do
A good heavy walking stick is always a good choice. 👍🏻
Is it legal to carry a Lock in a sock?
yeah but not if it's used as a weapon :P
That's some very interesting non weapon, weapon choices. I would be so pissed off if I got arrested for carrying an aerosol can. You have no right to self defense? By contrast, we have stand your ground laws where I'm at, meaning you are not obligate to retreat when threatened and can use appropriate force in self defense including lethal force if necessary.
What state are you in brother? I'm in central nys our laws are just as bad as theres. We can't defend ourselves if we have any means of escape, messed up really.
@@rayfox212 I live in North Florida. Stand your ground is the law here. If you are a law biding citizen, state concealed carry permits are easy to get.
@@theroguetrapper9524 6 months is the average time to get your ccp here
we do have stand your grounds laws in the UK ! there is no duty to retreat , and you can meet force with force and even kill the aggressor (Chism 1967) although any force must be reasonable .
in your own home you can use force that amounts to disproportionate force legally ! you can use firearms as well but you cannot get a permit for self defence. in a private house / land , you can carry any legal weapon / legal firearm however in a public place you cannot carry anything for self defence - which this video talks about
unlike the US a private citizen does not need to be duptised to make arrests etc,
any person can arrest anyone whom he reasonably suspects to guilty of an indictable offence
or for a breach of the peace, or to apprehend persons unlawfully at large and may use reasonable force !
(resisting a lawful arrest by a citizen is a crime and is a potential indictable charge )
the courts also ruled that there is a general duty "among citizens to prevent felony" ( The Queen vs Duffy 1963)
@@geezerp1982 Thanks for clearing that up. Everyone should have a strong right to self defense, when needed.
People out here are carrying Rambo knives and we are meant to protect ourselves with this? 😂
for this one i will ignore the law if that is what they are telling us great awareness

i should probably started going to my karate lessons again, the laws around self defense in the uk are disgusting.
I'm not sure really what help a rape alarm would be ? People like myself would maybe presume it was a car alarm and just ignore it ??
ikr
Can you carry and use "Wasp/Hornet Spray," and Co2 guns?
Uk law has failed us time and time again
It's honestly stupid our law system like paper spray? Like atleast let us carry pepper spray like bruh it's to keep people safe. I bet you that the deaths in the uk would be low if we had our own self defence items
so am i able to carry a folding pocket knife less than 3 inches?
no
You can use a weapon to defend your self but You cant have a weapon to defend your self.
On the cctv course that I went to the instructor was promoting the spray, so now that is also illegal?
Did a CCTV and doing door supervisor... and yes. Everything is illegal or "technically legal" except the rape alarm. To be honest I'm scared to shit.
The file is great for a specific profession. Gotta work with what you have, like a handiman can carry some screwdrivers and a fireman can have a small prybar.
As a gravedigger I always I have a pocket full of sand. If need be I can throw a handful and burry them before they know what hit’em 😂
Glad to have found your channel I have liked and subscribed to watch more videos, thanks.

I work late nights in a public facing role. The amount of times I’ve had aggressive criminals verbally abusing me or my colleagues, and I’ve heard of plenty of violent attacks too.
Just had 4 road men trying to intimidate me earlier today and I’m looking into purchasing a brass knuckle or some pepper spray… only to discover I’d be arrested if I used them to defend myself. The UK is truly a failed society.

Hi Malcolm. Thanks for the video.
Once they take your guns away, the slippery slope steepens. I show this video to all my American friends followed by the words, "Don't give an inch, or this will follow."
Yup I'm in the uk I'm getting ganged up on I don't wanna pull a knife but what can you do
Can't carry a teddy bear for self-defense but criminals with buckets of acid? Didn't see a thing.
Um...
I got 200 hours community service for using a belt as a weapon
Hahahaha seriously that’s a joke
@@Kaiyats yeah and I didn’t even “use” it, I was swinging it above my head in the middle of a fight. Then got clotheslined by a copper.

Use an umbrella, a strong one
when i was window cleaning in my youth i was able to carry an unger cleaner.basically a razorblade mounted sideways in a handle for scraping birdxxxx off windows.
If you are carrying an item for self defense it has premeditation, not just grabbing the nearest object to protect yourself, you're open to prosecution in the UK.
wrong! self defence and weapon law are seperate and totally different why cant people get this through their heads ? the prevention of crime act 1953 makes it a crime to carry anything to CAUSE INJURY its DOES NOT EFFECT YOU RIGHT TO SELF DEFENCE you will not lose your right to self defence just because you used an offensive weapon ! if the force used is reasonable then you will not be charged with any assault but you will face offensive weapon charges instead
see R vs Fagan 1973
also the prevention of crime act DOES NOT apply in a private place , the keeping of a baseball bat etc for self defence is legal as well !
What has been said about the strobe setting on torches?
There have been cases of the police saying the strobe setting is a weapon.

Or wearing some good chunky rings everywhere! Can't be arrested for wearing 2/3 heavy rings, you can even look for things like skulls, etc that are shaped just right to easily break a jaw!
Someone I know carries a small 100ml can of WD40. Apparently it's not nice to get sprayed in your eyes and mouth.
@@DjDolHaus86 oven cleaner spray, it will certainly disable them, especially if it gets in their eyes, far more likely to cause permanent damage than pepper spray, but you could just have bought it and grabbed the first thing that came to hand.
@@5688gamble did you miss the plausibility part or the fact we can't legally own pepper spray? Also it's not about causing permanent harm, it's about buying yourself a window of escape, the more malicious your response the more likely you are to be legally responsible for any harm caused.
US legal self defence items... pretty much any gun or weapon you can think of..
UK self defence items that are legal... a torch 'you can shine it in people's eyes' or some fucking red silly string that you can confuse them and make them think you're throwing them a surprise birthday party.. and last but not least... the most dangerous of all........ a pen.... seriously, a pen.

not all US states some of them are nearly as bad as the UK case in point , NY, CA, NJ, MA
@@geezerp1982 Really? That's something I often overlook and forget when it comes to comparing the laws of England and the USA, we are tiny in comparison and the laws are exactly the same for everything wherever you are in the country. The USA has multiple states which all have laws specific to each one. I think I'm right in thinking there are also a set of laws which apply to the whole of the USA, and state police can only enforce the law in the state that they're employed in whereas the FBI have powers everywhere in the country...
