Fifth dimension = pure talent 🌈
The man in the middle is Billy Davis jr and the woman on the right is the wonderful Marilyn MacCoo . They are married since 1969 and still sing today.
    " You don't have to be a star " was a great song by both ( 1976 ).🖐️🇨🇵

I lived through that time, and people really were hopeful that together we could make a big change in the world for the better. It never really happened, but in the younger people of today, as represented by Jayy and many of the other young people, who have music reaction channels here on RUclips, I find my hope being reignited. These are some really nice, intelligent, sensitive young men and women, who aren't afraid to react emotionally to good music, and who are so friendly, they never fail to put a smile on my face, as well as in my heart. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF THEM. THANKS JAYY !

Aside from the time in our country when astrology, hippies, and 'peace & love' was everywhere, I was in my Junior High band class playing my baritone horn to this song. I love this song (songs? haha). Being Aquarius myself I’ve always felt an affinity to this song 😊 The harmonies during the “Aquarius” portion are brilliant! And the smooth vibe gets you locked in and then next thing you know they bridge into “Let The Sunshine” and it’s like you’re transported to a gospel revival but at a hippie gathering 😆. Brilliant all around. I think you would enjoy “One Less Bell To Answer”, “Up, Up And Away”, “Stone Cold Picnic”, “Wedding Bell Blues”. Two of the members of the band, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. went on their own and they had a gorgeous song called “You Don’t Have To Be A Star” which was a big hit for them and definitely one you should consider reacting to.

I go back that far and I am Aquarius so this became a favorite song. From the musical "Hair" But - There is another "Hair" written by the Cowsills for a comedy special. You will want the version with the guy in red shorts and the hairy chest. They are the real family band that the Partridge family was based on. They also wrote the song for the TV show "Love American Style" (don't do a live version of this song). Then there is "The Rain The Park And Other Things" This one the best version is From the 2013 CD "The Billy Cowsill Benefit Concert" raised money for Billy's cancer treatments but was actually recorded in 2004.

They actually auditioned for Motown Records but were told "No!" because they were too mellow. Keep in mind that Motown was going into their Psychedelic Soul Era. They went to Polydor and became Superstars. They were once called The Black Mamas & Papas. They had other Hits like Stone Soul Picnic, Wedding Bell Blues, and Beautiful Balloon but this is their Signature Song. This was from The Broadway Musical Hair that Andrew Lloyd Webber created. It also has a poignant vibe because it was sung at The Supremes Farewell Concert in 1970 on January 15th Nine Years to the day they signed with Motown. They bought The "Church" at the end.

Glad you enjoyed groovy, hippy beat. Your grandparents rocked to this in rainbow colors and flowers in their hair. These acts appeared all over TV variety shows each week. Variety shows would have their main person host and bring on these top of the chart performers on to perform ( mostly lip synced) back then. With only 3 TV stations, everyone in the country watched the same shows, learned of new groups and new music. And radios blared this all the time. You would have had to be in a coma to have missed this top song. It was the Happy or Uptown Funk of the day. Except, the singers then actually had to be good. No auto tuning. What you heard is what you got. The 5th were fabulous. Really crossed racial barriers. Very catchy tune. Now, I am gonna hum it all day. Keep up the reactions

Hearing this again and seeing your smile reminded me of how great it was to be alive then - and now, for that matter. 🙂 Although we continue to work on injustices, it was a magical time.

I love this song. To me, this song perfectly represents the 60s &70s.
Fun facts: French's mustard used the Let The Sun Shine In part as their song. Also there's a great cover of this song at the end of 40 Year Old Virgin. Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr had a TV show.
