It saddens me that the spirit of peace, love, and harmony that existed in my childhood seems so distant and foreign to young people today.
That's funny because all of the War Pigs around the world today are baby boomers.
You can feel the 60`s
No matter how many times I hear this song and see the video it ALWAYS brightens me up. The smiling and joy in their faces, beauty in their voices, and words, combine to make something special. Its just a song of optimism and hope.
This is music from back in my day. I was a big ol' hippie in 1969. It's 2023 & I'm still a big ol' hippie! Music from that era was the best!
the theme song of generation
I'm of that generation and I am an Aquarius, so if course it is a favorite of mine. In 1969 I was living in New York City, I was 24. One Sundau I decided to go to Central Park, and the 5th Dimension was giving a free concert there. Lot's of people. air so thick with smoke from mariuana you could just inhale and get hight.
A cover from that great hippy musical Hair. So many great songs came out of that musical. This one was one of the best. Marilyn McCoo had one of those great voices.
This song broke down walls while building bridges from the bricks. Today, the mechaniculture, borne of the busy monster, manunkind, obsesses over the building of walls, while bridges crumble and burn. Not much sunshine. Not much harmony and understanding. No mind's true liberation. No hair. Nowhere. Man! I'd love to change the world, but I don't know what to do. So I'll leave it up to you.
Song there somewhere.
It is about a time when people can live in harmony with peace.
Almost brings tears to my eyes seeing this younger generation appreciate this! It's about an age of enlightenment which unfortunately we have yet to achieve.
This song was huge at the time, I remember it well.
Marilyn McCool has a beautiful voice. This song was popular when I was a young teen
It's so uplifting!
This is actually parts of two songs from the musical jammed together. It's funny, the "let the sunshine in" part became very memorable, even used later in ads for window cleaners and such... But it's only the ending refrain of a song titled "The Flesh Failures" which is really pretty good and worth a listen. I recommend the Original Broadway Cast version.
Yep. Original Broadway cast kicked ass. I love that album.
Check out the performance by the cast of Bulgarian Idol.
I wish we could all go back to the atmosphere of living we had during this time. In my little world we were all from different backgrounds but we excepted each other and we were there for each other. We had so much fun and this is what this song represents for me✌❣
A tune from my childhood.
Visually bright, bold & beautiful...ever forward looking
This was a big hit for them on the AM radio in the late 1960’s. I remember it well from that era. “Let the Sunshine In” still gives me chills!
The songs are from the Broadway musical “Hair” which has some other amazing tunes, like “Hair”. It was notorious back then because some of the actors took off all their clothes on stage. Scandalous! I think the movie is awesome if you get a chance, watch it
I saw this musical in Toronto. They stripped at the end of the first act.
Fabulous song from a fabulous Broadway show! I could listen to it again and again.
He baseline in Let The Sunshine In is the single best baseline ever. IMO...
Just think. America was landing people on the moon while we listened to this type of music.
There was Hope for the future. Best times we ever got. Now it's Just Doom.
@@jasperchance3382 That's what I mean. It seemed as though anything was possible back then. Everything was better. Music, TV entertainment, our government and country was not toxically divided.
@@bobhope3716 yeah, I was Just furthering your thought
@@bobhope3716 USA toxically divided itself away from native America.
Pretty dark origins... Kids born in the 50s seem to forget
Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. In the group have been married over 50 years. Underrated band my parents had the 8 track and I was listening to it when I was 10 years old
I'm pretty sure the music was done by "The Wrecking Crew" ... a studio band that did a lot of work with hit singers of the day. Glen Campbell was part of this group of musicians as was Joe Osborn who played that great bass on Let the Sun Shine In.
Uplifting!!! ❤!
Let the Sunshine in✨✨✨✨⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
This song is the sound of the 60’s.
According to Florence LaRue: One of the gentlemen in the 5th Dimension lost his wallet. We were in New York City at the Americana Hotel, performing and another gentleman found his wallet and brought it to the Americana and returned it. So, we invited him to the show and he invited us to his show. That gentleman was the producer of [the musical] Hair! So, when we went to see Hair and we heard the song, we said, “Wow, we’ve got to do that!”
You gut to feel it ....blessed be the light
Anyone more beautiful than Marilyn McCoo???”No” ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Grab the album. Original Broadway cast of Hair not the movie.
The other version Is killer, too
I was 2 in 1969. Hippie age. I was a tiny girl dancing in my parents living room
Me too.
Me too. Born in summer 67. Dad had this group on 8 track ❤

Me too. About to turn 57 on August 9th.
For some reason it's not in stereo. The stereo version sounds much better.
You kids missed sooooo much! We Boomers made our mistakes like every generation---but the MUSIC was the BEST, the golden age of popular music! Your parents and grandparents were waaaaay cooler than you ever imagined...there's never been a time like the 1960s, and sadly, with all the good and bad of that time--mostly good!--there never will be again...
I prefer the movie soundtrack versions of pretty much all the songs, but still very classic!
