She turned out so beautiful. I saw the Instagram photo before the video, and was so amazed at how she looked. I especially liked the freckles. Not many dolls come with freckles.

Agreed. I wonder if more would embrace freckles instead of covering them with make up like my mother did, if more dolls actually celebrated diverse beauty instead of just giving them different colors of hair or skin and calling that diversity.
As it is, the cheak bones and facial/bone structure don't change with the dolls that are supposed to have different heritage...
So we've got a bunch of girls and women who think only one is beautiful who even get surgery trying to match one single ideal of "beauty" and on the less extreme scale, girls and women who cover freckles and whatnot as well.
It's sad. I'm aware my baby sister has done so too. The bleaching and dying her hair I'm fine with. Covering freckles... It's always bugged me. I wanted more freckles as a kid after seeing my mom with them before make up. I wanted more freckles like hers. I ended up with relatively few in comparison.
I actually ended up with the same insecurities because having anything but absolutely "clear" skin is treated as a blemish by "beauty" standards set in media.
Now I just don't care.
It's not a nice feeling. Feeling like freckles are supposed to be, essentially, painted over and forgotten.
I mean, it's part of your body and your skin ya know? It's not a flaw or a blemish even, just a different kind of skin the same way some animals are born with different markings passed down in bloodlines.
Human beings just can be shitty about anything that doesn't fit societies singular view of beauty.
I want my little sister to feel beautiful and know her freckles can be and are part of her beauty, not a hindrance to it.
AuroraLalune don't cover your freckles, it's beautiful. I'm a black girl and if I were to live another life as a white girl, I would ask for freckles and ginger/black hair. Freckles is so pretty!! 😍❤

thankyou. I used to. I don't anymore. I didn't really get them on my face though. More my shoulders and some on my arms, a few on my neck but barely.
It may also be because I can't go into the sun a bunch either though(me plus sunburn equals sick- even though that's only supposed to happen with very serious sumburns, i get it with minor sunburn) and you get more freckles if you spent a lot of time in the sun.
Honestly? I wouldn't mind being reborn dark skinned. I think darker tones of skin are beautiful but i also hate that society as a whole seems to only want to accept one idea of beauty and then erases the rest.
People with freckles and/or red hair were not always considered "white". In fact there was a time such was demonized even.
In reality, I've never seen anyone with exactly the same freckles so it's kinda like zebra stripes in that regard, where no zebra has the same stripes as another.
I don't really like using terms like black or white to describe people. It seems... Dehumanizing.

I was sat next to my sister the other day and I happened to glance at the mirror that was beside her. You know those scenes in films when their like showing the ghost of the person, who they make pale, and the same person when they were alive? Yeah. I looked like the ghost version. My sister and I look completely different other than hair colour but from the place where I was, it looked like that. Especially since my eyes are darker. I have always been the more tan one but my skin doesn’t pigment much anymore 😅😂

Your repaint is spectacular. Perhaps you should blur the teeth a little, they look a little creepy when there is too much detail and space between them. She is so pretty.
the teeth follow the curve of the lips rather than a straight line as with real people. that's why they look a little off. I think the detail is wonderful

I agree the dolls would be better aesthetically of course , but since these are hand painted dolls , the result can’t be accurately replicated thru any other means . It’s authentic and each doll is one of a kind , so I say No To Mattel but yes to custom dolls for people online , and also get an apprentice so the dolls can go in forever

The lines of the teeth should have been all drawn vertical. Some of the lines are at a slight slant, making the teeth look wrong. Other than that, the head is gorgeous. :)

Very good work, the eyes are very lively, and she definitely looks better with a full head of hair. I think the only weak point is the teeth, which are way too small ! Her smile is not so wide, so it should show less teeth, mostly the 4 incisors, and each tooth would be wider.

She’s absolutely gorgeous!! Your dolls have such life to them I can’t help but start to form ideas about them in my head. This beautiful lady looks like a gal with a cute laugh that makes her nose wrinkle in the most perfect way. If I took her on a date, it’d be a picnic in a meadow with lots of flowers and I bet she’d bring homemade pastries. She would wear a pretty, lacy sundress and a big, wide hat, with a pretty green bow on it.
I think if I saw a girl like that smile at me, I’d fall in love instantly.
