Hey my daughters love looking at your videos thank you for doing this beautiful chocolate doll this really touches my heart thank you so much also I love hearing you talk so I love watching your videos
thank you! greetings to your girls!
@@PoppenAtelier how did you become so good at art?
@@taetaewithsomekookiesandsu4605 Practice
I know her voice is so relaxing.
can you wipe my features away with acetone and repaint them like this (gorgeous)
isabella stafford I felt this comment....
isabella stafford you are both perfect. No need to change.
Whatever dude you're beautiful just the way you are
😂😂😂 I'm getting in line!
Honestly
Guys I really don't find anything wrong with the title. Big, because this isn't the standard barbie size. Black beauty, because it's beautiful and black. Black beauty and chocolate beauty, etc. All terms to uplift black women who have historically been looked down upon for the color of their skin. So I think the title is most definitely NOT racist or insensitive. I find it helpful to include that the doll is black because barbies are mostly white, which she mentions in the beginning. I actually clicked on this video because it said black barbie and when I had barbies, black ones were a rarity so I like to see them now that they are more available. Maybe there are other titles you may prefer, but I see nothing wrong with the current one.
thank you so much for understanding!
J Renèe ツ Thank you beautifully said.
I always wanted a black Barbie to go with my Hispanic (Theresa) and white Barbies (Barbie and Midge) but could NEVER find one when I was allowed a toy (birthday and Christmas). They were like unicorns.
I always found one when I was being allowed to browse, but never when my parents were BUYING me one.
Aaaand now I want to go buy one just to soothe my inner child.
Yes!!! 👏🏽❤️
Phantom Marius Probably to help get more hits.
I love how you don’t show the final product in the thumbnail so its a surprise what it looks like. It makes the video more enjoyable
She looks exactly like my 3rd grade teacher when I was a little girl. Mrs. Valentine, I always admired her. So beautiful and graceful. I love this doll. She brought back so many wonderful childhood memories ♥️
Your teacher was an almost model-like lady!!
@Holly D L tf 😂😂😂😂 you took ghis to a dark place very fast 😂😂😂🙈
Hot Mess Manifest my third grade teacher was named mrs valentine to lol
Pause you know an actual nymph and they’re going by Ms. Valentine? *alert*
bless Ms Valentine :)
Gorgeous! Just a tip, when working with dark skin, consider highlighting with a pale yellow color and add some warm red/orange hues to the skin to keep it looking more life like and warm. Otherwise so beautiful I love seeing you work on different types of dolls!
Kaylyn Butorac I would like to say the same thing though
You are right! Thanks!
Kaylyn Butorac You're completely right. Using straight pink on dark skin looks funky. And, also, using black for shading made the doll look less realistic and kind of awkward. Otherwise, it was really good for her first try!
Kaylyn Butorac I agree! Smart idea!
Kaylyn Butorac photo credit 5th the family thanks for the beautiful message my regards to the family thanks for the check up my phone has a problem how are
This is very beautiful. I'm over 50 and black and find nothing "offensive" about the title. The title explained exactly what we were watching and I hope to see more - Big Beautiful Black Doll- repaints.
thank you so much! honestly, I was thinking about Naomi Campbell while working on this doll. She was the number one when I was a teenager and I heard her being called all the time 'the black panther', 'the black queen', 'the black beauty' and I don't think she felt insulted, at least it was never said and ment in an offensive way, it was a constatation of her beautiful feature because in the 90's there where mainly white girls modelling and she was such a black pearl, the same like this doll is, because the doll market is full of white barbies, exactly like the fashion world 25 years ago.
I'm 25 % black as my mother is 50% black herself. This doll reminded me of all the women in my family ^^ it was a nice change
well I can see why others would think it's offensive. you don't call the white Barbie heads you do "white beauty" heads.
Valyn Tropia I’m white but I’ve always admired black women for their beautiful skin, strong personality and great hair. Awesome vocals too :) you girls teach us to fight with courage and passion when some of us are afraid to speak up.
+hannah vaverka not all black people can sing or dance it's a generalisation that has been made.... Just like white people can't dance. I appreciate what your trying to say though I'm not having a go
Such a beautiful repaint and it’s great to see ppl working with darker skin tones❤️🙌🏽🙌🏽
Tip when dealing with black or dark skin dolls stay away from cool tone colours, and light pink blush they tend to wash us out our complexion and make us ashy, instead of pink try a hot pink or a red, or orange.. and to contour the face use browns with more orange/warm hues than cool hues since cool hues usually are based off of greens and blues and neither are black girl friendly for the face. Yellow, orange or red/warm pink = black skin friendly
kinda depends on the undertones in though as this doll didnt have like super warm brown colours more a neutral to cool brown so some neutral colours and a mix of shades like hazel eyes worked very well and some have very warm undertones where such things like hazel eyes wont work out so good. i adore colour theory
Yeah, I was waiting for her to use some beautiful warm Golden tones. Light Apricoty colors aren’t always ideal
Yes
I edit photos, and this is super helpful. Thanks!
Dana Dear A lot of black skin has blue/pink undertones and goes well with cooler/jewel tones
can you do a Asian doll or Native Americans inspired doll
YES!! A beautiful NDN doll!!! 😭
I agree also Lola your pfp is beautiful
@@shaankelly8020 I ain't indian...we're indigenous to north America NOT INDIA....we're native American,First Nations or Ongwehon:we (first people's of turtle Island)
@・Sadako 😂😂😂 yeah agreed lol
Native American arent just from North America. They are from North America to South America as well. So dont say: "we're indigenous to north America" say "We are idigenous from the Americas or North and South america" its more accure and real.
Idk how I got here lol but I’m really glad I did ❤️ this was so refreshing and relaxing.
Queen Liy exactly what I said! I don't know how I managed to find this video but I'm glad I did. It was an interesting process to watch and beautiful end product.
Dakota Mal. Saaamme! This is litterally excactly what happened to me😂 now I'm.subed sooo
Queen Liy same. Lovely channel, and the cute accent has me hooked, aside from the cool art.
me too hahaah
Queen Liy agreed ;) haha
“Big” is in this title just like all of her other videos where she does Big doll heads. This is beautiful! Pure talent!!
Your profile pic is amazing
Absolutely love the repaint. I was holding my breath to see if you were going to make her skin lighter. I'm relieved that you kept her dark skin tone. Kudos to you. I love your work. Please do continue. Grab an American Girl doll, or a Bratz doll! (LOL). Add me to the list of people who see nothing wrong with the title. It is informative and specific! Thank you for doing honor to this doll.
Why would she make the skin lighter? She never does that to any of the dolls she repaints.
Yup! And when she made the doll darker on the hands!💞
Karli Fran I’ve seen some other videos where people complain that she’s done just that...
@@karlifran6584 Why do you as a white person have to comment on someone who is obviously making a positive comment about someone who appreciates other skins and not just lighter or white washing them. You would be surprised how many Europeans and white americans in general always try to white wash everything,so its extremely logical to be happy and relieved that not everyone thinks this way or makes a point to put it into their art.
Everyone is talking about how the title isn't offensive but I literally don't see any comments saying that it is offensive. Everyone needs to calm tf down lmao
EXACTLY!! All I see are "Shut up it isn't offensive." this and "Stop being sensitive.". Like yooooo yall are projecting HEAVILY within these damn comments!
And it's literally giving so many people the excuse to project their feelings about how "Black people are always playing the victim.".... I'm so damn annoyed.
Comments that get thumbed up show first. Everyone's thumbing down the comments about the title being offensive
Kendra Morrison oh I see, thanks for clarifying.
BestAbsolutePerfect Nicole well they kinda are
Great work on all of your projects! Sadly, most of us REALLY don’t have red undertones. We are mostly yellow undertones. It’s really 40% yellow, 40% neutral, 10% red, 10% cool.
Finally a beautiful doll of color.
Kaylyn Harvey that's so awesome my brother used to play with a doll he called stareanne he loved her soo much I think dolls and toys are the best invention ever ( besides food) 😋😀😋😀😀
Brea Bell you can find beautiful bjd's with many darker skin tones there beautiful
Brea Bell *beautiful black doll indeed.
90% of dolls that are black clearly have european features that are just painted in a darker skin color and its really disappointing tbh
I mean theyre cute looking but a tiny nosed, straight haired european doll with a darker skin gets boring after a while
I appreciate the doll in the video for the black features, she looks adorable
So white people are not a 'colour' huh 😤🙄
I’m black and I love ❤️ this, there’s nothing offensive about the title ? If that’s what people are saying... Keep up the good work! You’re sooo talented!
Something about the rubbery hands really creeps me out.
That's a comment on the toy design. The work that you did looks lovely.
BwooHuraca something about your profile picture really creeps me out😂😂
Nevaeh Swanner that was EXACTLY what i was thinking
BwooHuraca have you seen your profile picture
BwooHuraca it's bent rlly weird I noticed that too and tried to bend my hand that way. But I don't recommend it i almost broke my wrist 😂
I love how she doesn't discriminate and does all kinds of skin tones. She has real talent.
Can you do Asian? 😍
Gin Gin a big Asian doll sounds like an almost impossible find :(
Gin Gin she just did and keyboard warriors told her it was racist......
Why can’t all RUclips communities be as good as the doll repainting community
Soooo beautiful plzzz do more african American dolls
I hope she can find more to do! Apparently they're harder to come by in Belgium. :(
She bought the doll in Belgium, didn't she? So I wouldn't call it an American girl.
Mariah -Jade I swear I just seen you on Wattpad
Why African American and not black? In Europe calling someone black is not offensive even in South America is use as a cute pet name among friends and family. You're already assuming that she's American? USA needs to know that the world doesn't revolve around them...
LLJ🕊
It's sad to see that people are paying more attention to the title of the video rather than the video itself.
Teirusuki right that’s what I’m sayin it does not matter the skin color hey I’m black and I don’t have anything bad to say about it.
Teirusuki yeah! I'm black and I see nothing wrong with the title
Teirusuki people like to hear the words “black” or “white” in a sentence and call it racist which i hate
What’s wrong with the title that’s what the doll is called
I really love how she points out that she loves the doll’s skin tone and makes no move to lighten it in any way it’s really refreshing :)
I love reading the comments on all the advice its a great way to get tips for my own art work. Keep up the amazing job she really is a true beauty and always refreshing to see any barbie that isn't white
She looks so realistic!! I swear I've seen someone like her before in real life!!

isnt it funny how everyone is saying that 'everyone is getting mad over the title' when no one is
LucernasDN i was literally looking like...???
Lmao me, I am so confused 😂😂😅😅
Scroll down far enough and you'll see all the offended commenters. How dare she specify the doll was black, it was uncalled for and she needs to change the title. The arguments are as stupid as you would expect them to be
Thumbed up comments (i.e. those explaining why it isn't offensive) are moved up in comment priority and thumbed down comments( i.e. the ones saying it is offensive for dumb reasons) are moved down in comment priority and therefore take forever to find as they are so down voted you'd have to reach the bottom of the abyss before seeing them.
AkeeDN most people deleted their comments
I honestly feel like the dolls skin was a bit more lively and vibrant in its original form. The repainting made her skin look a little ashen and dull. Would have loved to see her with warmer undertones. I saw in other comments where working with different tones has been addressed with suggestions and I appreciate that you are working and learning different skin tones and shades!! You did fantastic work. Her eyes address so life-like. Great work on her hands and clothing as well!!!
This is only the second video that I have seen, but now I am suddenly on a binge!!
I don't know how I got into these doll remaking videos..
Same. I'm following like 3 people now

im laughing @ how yall are talking abt ppl being mad over the title when ive been scrolling for like 5 minutes and i havent seen a single person complaing, just ppl explaining how it isnt offensive. its as if yall saw the title and assumed there wld be people complaining bc u were shocked by it at first.

They obviously could have deleted it.

The big doll heads are fun to watch because we can see the details of your work easier. I’m so impressed with what you can do to a doll’s eye that makes it so realistic.
Love seeing a Black beauty! And a larger doll. She is lovely
Your work is amazing. My 5 year old loves you! Keep posting for us 😅
Thank you! Greetings to her!
Poppen Atelier could you do a superhero girl doll... Bumblebee?
I really like that you're going outside of your box with darker skin tones and it came out a great first! I think maybe make the eyebrow hairs a bit darker and more defined next time?
Hello Poppen Atelier, this was another amazing repaint. I must admit I have fallen in love with your videos. Your artistry is amazing to watch and your voice is so kind to listen too. I am a new fan and look forward to watching more. I also wanted to leave a little suggestion that you might like to try for dark skinned or black girl dolls like this one. Try using a warm or bright orange blush instead of pink, it'll warm up the skin tone in a beautifully natural way. Usually pink blush cools our skin down and can sometimes look a little ashen whereas orange tends to bring out the glow of dark skin. Either way I am so glad I found your videos, thank you for sharing with us your talent
yes, I think you are right! thank you!
I'm so happy you replied to me and like my suggestion. 😄
I love watching you bring these boring looking dolls to life! Instead of looking cheap, when you're done your work makes them shine like real people.
She’s gorgeous! Great job ❤️ this was so relaxing to watch
I imagine the artist is good at makeup too 😍😍😍
Beautiful! The color correction of the hands made me happy, I'm glad you fixed those instead of the face and chest :)

@Lizard
The other ones have been downvoted/not-upvoted and have sunk down.
Lovely!! Thanks for your dolls of color. My 4 year old and I are working our way through your library each nap and bedtime. I love to show her dolls that look like her!
Can you do a glam doll...more dramatic eyelashes, colored eyeshadow, maybe a ombré lip or something
Consider using light bronze and coppery colors instead of white for high light. Using white and cold colors tend to make black skin look ashy and dusty
Oh my goodness she looks just like my God daughter
You should tell that to the people complaining that the facial proportions are off and not “black” enough. I’ve definitely seen POC women who look like this doll.
Darker skin tones are harder to paint. I love how you are going out of your comfort zone and still making it beautiful (like the title) amazing work!
Love the Title. Repsention of Big Black Beautiful people all around the world. Thank you for doing a black doll!
Alyfe Poison Bunny Shadow it's says big in the title because the doll itself is bigger than a normal barbie doll
I'm impressed with the white pencil. It covers really well and is bright white.
Such a weird face mold...what the heck were they thinking
Anon the-third I think they probably used the same face mold they use for white dolls, not taking into account that most people with darker skin tone also have different face/feature shapes xP
Anon the-third because maybe she doesn’t know what type to use on a black doll because most of the time she does lighter skin tone dolls
Daisha’s Channel i was talking about the factory mold
Well yeah but we're talking about the sculpt not the colors xD
It's different but I'd be lying if I said I haven't seen dark skinned girls who look like that.
I had one of those 3 foot tall Barbie dolls that spent years in our attic, and I threw it out when I moved, because her hair was destroyed, and her paint was chipped. I wish I had seen your videos then. I would have taken her in and given her second life. Ugh! I could have made some little girl so happy.... lessons learned, I suppose.
This doll came out so beautiful!
I just found this channel...
Poppen is such a cutie, she makes me so happy. The way she speaks, the way she seems so caring about the dolls...
I would die for her and I've only seen two videos.
I cannot stop binge watching poppens videos, someone plz help

MOOD
Slightly imperfect and very beautiful, just like a real person. Wonderful work!!! You’re so incredibly talented
The iris in this one are fantastic!
Lol with the way the doll's arm is made, it looks like it's coming out of some sort of portal by her shoulder.
we LOVE a glowy sister
Why are all these people in the comments trying to be politically correct by calling the doll "African American" instead of black? The doll....is not American.... 😅
You are clearly mistaken if you were born in the United States you would be American and black means African so that would make you African American
I’m African American myself just a note. When slavery started people were born in America but there parents were from africa so BOOM African American so basically...there the same in a sense but in reality totally different
good night I have black studies at school and I'm just saying not trying to cause anything
Heather Hartman mhm
Maihzja White preach!!🙌🏽
She is beautiful, you did an amazing job! I always feel the urge to blow away the pastel dust while I watch
You maybe should not have used bright pink as the blush. I have the same skin tone as the doll and I would NEVER wear blush that light. I also think that you should have used more warm colors because her skin looks kind of dull. But otherwise keep up the good work.👍👍👍👍👌👌
I think you are right, thanks!
This is a great tip! I always wondered why I suck at drawing darker skin shades and its because I always use a lot of pink blush 😂
Agreed though
Very lovely doll altogether
Comrade Roas for lite skin black and brown people Orange and Orangeish red, for medium skin black and brown redish Orange, and red, for darker skin dark red and gold. But goal is good for all brown skin tones. This is not always going to he the same as I have listed it all depends on the person. I would say just take a look at how black and brown people do their makeup to get an idea about how what colors go with the skin. I hope this helps. 👍👍👍👌👌👌
Her complexion reminds me of nyma tang!
Ashleigh Calloway that is your personal preference on what you wouldn’t wear it’s looks amazing on the doll and in no way looks odd. I think your choice of the word “dull” is misused her face in no way gives of any vibe or dullness. Again personal opinions differ from one another so I’d see why you could say you’d never wear a color like that on yourself.
So let me get this straight. People are mad that she called the black doll black? 🤔🤔Oml 😷
Jamong she doesn’t call her white dolls white do she
Nia // so...?
Nia if someone were to search for black dolls, you type in, BLACK DOLLS. Lol
People just like starting something for nothing
Nia yeah but this is like the first time she is doing a black doll so she wanted to point out that hey I’m doing something new for a change because in some of her other videos she has all lighter skinned people.
It's almost scary how realistic your dolls come out!
With realistic art, there's always a moment for me when I say "that doesn't look good" and then it works perfectly into the end product and looks stunnning
Wow so beautiful! 😍 it crazy how you can change a normal doll into a work of art.
Thank you!
She looks like a beautiful bride...love it😁💗
Her eyes are a masterpiece. Your best work yet.
I love that you give the skin dimensions and make it look so much more realistic than plain plastic. A lot of other dolls repainted forget to tone and shade the body too
I get this really awesome prom queen/ princess vibe from her. It's so amazing with the details all put together
Is it frustrating to maintain your nail care while having to work with acetone or nailpolish remover for repaints? Like, those are some tricky meanie things
Speaking as an aesthetician, if you want to keep nicely manicured nails while working with acetone/polish remover you'll go for gel nails or gel polish of some sort!
Otherwise, yeah - it's really frustrating.
I always use gel nail polish already for years! 😊 (you are talking about my nails, right, not about the doll's ones? 🤣) Regular nail polish survives just 2-4 hours on me - I work constantly with my hands, gel surveys 2 weeks for sure
Scarlet Sorcerer gloves.
yup acetone can melt plastic, if left on for a long period of time
Scarlet Sorcerer shellac is a godsend
Wow this is beautiful! Thank you for being diverse! 😊
Don't contour dark skin with black because it'll look like hyperpigmentation. Instead use a darker shade of brown with respect to red/orange/yellow undertones that many black beauties have. Keep up the amazing work! New subbie here!
What little girl wouldn't want to have this beautiful Barbie!
try using yellow tones like the original had the pink was too much
You did an amazing job (as always). I can't wait to see you do one with warm undertones!
I love it but the teeth seem a little small for her head.
Beautiful though!
Danae Goliath Queen Elizabeth
Okay you can stop talking about the teeth now.
Her lips seem a bit fuller than the other big dolls she works on. All the dolls end up looking good but it always throws me off that she gives them teeth.
They look like my older sister’s teeth...unlike my huge ones!
she looks gorgeous! you're so talented and inspiring!!😁
Thank you!
I like you profile pic dry cereal. Have you played the game Sailormoon Drop yet? It’s like bejeweled but the power up are the sailors power moves.
Poppen, love your work. Didn’t realize just how unrealistic the dolls looked before you painted them.
This is very gorgeous! I love how youthful and vibrant you made her skin tone look and how elegant she looks this is really breathtaking piece what a great job!
She’s so beautiful. Both her and the other really big doll you repainted wearing lacy white makes it look like they’re getting married, it’s so lovely
I wish her eyebrows were a little bit sharper n maybe darker?
yeah, maybe, sealant 'steals' a lot of color and I was all the time scared to draw her too thick and too black eyebrows
If one finds racism here it is because one is acustomed to look for racism.
This needs to be a top comment.
You're right
cat moth
wait THIS comment? **confusion** this comment isn't ignorant. It's stating the truth.
cat moth okay? What does that have to do with the video. Nobody is experiencing racism from this video. If you are, then get your head out your ass
NO ONE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE TITLE YOU DUMB FUCK
I love how you painted the hands, all the contouring and highlighting to show the bones and tendons that aren’t even there!
I stumbled upon this old video of yours and it made me want to see you doing another black beauty doll with your new skills. I'm sure you had improved a lot through the years! Hope we can more projects like these in the future!
I think you did an amazing job on her eyes, they look so life like, you're such a talented artist. The final job is beautiful.
Oml so beautiful! Can you do an Asian girl next?
Half the comments are saying how they love the doll (I also LOVE how well she turned out! Good job! ❤) while the other half is just being offended by the title. The title is probably meant to be interpreted like this:
Big: Size of doll.
Black: Skin tone. (Why this term for the skin tone offends people is beyond me but whatever.)
Beauty: She IS a beauty!
She is not racist! She MAY have some ignorance but in reality all most everyone has ignorance of some race. People need to open their eyes and learn to live with the fact that our generation has grown to be offended by all most EVERYTHING. This is why our generation is mocked.
Everyone in the comments: saying their piece about the title.
Me: my favourite bit is when she draws the eyes back on. 🥰
I like how you took so much time on the hands and did a lot of detail to them. The eyes are also amazing too. You always do such an amazing job. Always baffles me
You did an AWESOME job . This was amazing to watch her transform as well .
Wow. Beautiful work! I just accidentally ran across your video and wondered why you were repainting a doll. What a pleasant surprise! Definitely interested to see your other projects. Cheers!
love how all of the comments are now just people responding to seemingly nonexistent people complaining about the title xD
i love the doll community- we're legit so full of love
I find it so annoying this is one of the few videos where “beautiful” is in the title and yet.... people still have negative shit to say. Or wait.. should I be offended you called your fair skinned dolls ‘ugly’ and ‘strange’ 😂😂 You are insanely talented, anyone that’s offended should go elsewhere 😘
literally no one is complaining.. and even so, why are you offended that ppl might be offended?
🙄😒
@@NicoleTheeHomebody there more than a few complaining it's kind of sad
I enjoyed this project. I would love to see more ethnic dolls make over in the future.
She looks like a new bride! So beautiful! 🌹
Love your repaint she's the same complexion as me. If you do a dark doll again gold or bronze eyeshadow with a dark redclip with gold highlights in the middle of the lip will make her skin pop. With a redder toned blush.
I wish I had the talent to do this to give my daughter a beautiful doll that looks like her and be realistic!
I dont see anyone complaining about the title being racist however I do see a lot of comments complaining about how so many people are complaining about the title ???????????confused but lmao I really enjoyed this and I think the title is normal and not offensive and yes I am black I'm just "light skin" lmao
Nani Dean they got disliked so they're far at the bottom unlike the ones that got likes
Nani Dean Okay, thought it was just me
uhm... what does your complexion have to do with the title, sis? whether you're "light skin" or "dark skin" or in-between, you're still "black."
i think the title is insensitive to the history of people of color, especially those who were described as "big black ". as i mentioned elsewhere, i don't think the artist is racist. i just think there are better ways to title a video without potentially being offensive. "repainting large size black beauty blah blah blah" is one suggestion.
@@alleyezonme79 THE DOLL IS BIGG. take a chill pill and she probably gets told she doesn't look Black because of her complexion, so she clarified that she is INDEED Black. Why you arguing with a kid?
I love the dark skinned dolls, but I never bought them before because I didn't want to take it away from a darker skinned girl or boy that wanted her since they were rare then. Now I buy them for my mixed nieces/nephews that want them 💖💖💖.
Thank you for showing how to keep black dolls beautiful!! Amazing work!
I was happy to see you do a black doll! My only criticism would be all the pink blush and makeup you used and that I wish the eyebrows were darker and more defined. Hope to see you do another in the future! Maybe next time you can switch the hair to a curly hair type, that'd be so cool!
