Zbrush is bit late to the sculpting party on ipad. Nomad sculpt does most thing already better than zbrush. Plus it has a lot easier learning curve than zbrush does.

2:11 if zbrush comes with a subscription it’ll be worthless when we have nomad sculpt

Honestly the barrel role feature is absolutely insane but I just don’t see how anyone can spend such an absurd amount on a iPad when they could get a MacBook Pro or a studio and get a intous pro

Yeah iPad Pros nowadays are insanely expensive. Especially the magic keyboards are so overpriced it's almost hilarious! Unfortunately though I don't see them getting cheaper any time soon.
Despite that I'm very happy with both the iPad Pro and the magic keyboard.
If you're in between getting a computer or a an iPad Pro I would say the wiser choice would be to get a computer.

I have the m1 iPad Pro and also want to wait and see how Zbrush is going to work on my iPad. During the apple event they were also showing octane working faster with the m4. Curious to see a side by side review with m1 and m2

Yeah an M1 iPad Pro is definitely a great piece of hardware. My guess is that Zbrush will work fine there but let's see!!

Have you heard of nomad sculpt?

I think RAM usage is fine on iPadOS since all of your memory is going towards your active apps

There's still a little bit of RAM reserved for background apps but yeah the majority of it is going towards the active app. The issue is that only 12GB can be used on 16GB RAM models and less, if you have an 8GB model. These numbers are a little bit tight for professional apps. I really don't know how ZBrush will be able to handle high res models!
Apple should just release 32GB RAM model and be done with it! That would be awesome!

Apple has long missed the boat. Most serious 3d artists have long moved to windows. Apple brings nothing to the table when competing against rtx 4090s of the world. It is not even close.

😂😂😂😂the stats says different story then

Actually plenty of new 3rd artists are starting and experienced artists are making the switch. The hypothetical M3 extreme would have been more powerful. The M3 Max is already on par with the 3070 TI (Destop). The Ultra would have been on par with 4070 TI (Desktop). The M4 generation will be even better (x2)

    Great video.
The new ipad is catching up to the PCs hardware-wise, but they ask the users to give up everything and adapt to their unique platform and handful of apps that support the latest hardware: Final Cut, Logic, Procreate and touch-screen Diablo 4?
The ipad has long outgrown the ipadOS limitations, they need to open it up for the powerful hardware to make sense. But it's unlikely to voluntarily give up the absolute control they have on the app store, and the juicy 30% commissions that it comes with.

I actually like the principles behind iPadOS. It's easy to get into especially for people who are not familiar with computers, it's very easy to maintain and it's a device that you get in and out without much fuss.
I would say if they fix a couple of issues the need for MacOS on the iPad is not necessary. For example:
I'm not exactly sure what goes on with virtual memory but last time I checked its use was very limited. Couple that with the 12GB of memory each app can use and you soon reach the limits of what a pro app can do. If they increase the overall RAM, and be more generous with virtual memory usage a lot of the limitations of the pro apps will go away.
      Let's see! I'm cautiously optimistic!

That's the issue with the ipad. They are just big screen phones with high end computing that's barely used. Apple could've slapped a supercomputer in the iPad and it wouldn't make a difference.
