My top two ones are Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Maul, and Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader in Episode V. Possible honorable mention to Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader in the former's miniseries.

Aaron is correct about the differences when they play Kylo's Theme the second time. It was in a different key and a slightly shifting tempo, but the note progression was absolutely identical (I play 6 instruments).

Although! The "Duel of the Fates" track by John Williams is on another level putting it #1 because of the music.
I think maybe both of these fights are tied for #1. But I really don't like a lot of the other fights, to be honest I'm not a big fan of Anakin & Obi. I grew up with Vader v Obi in 1977 at the age of 5. That might be my favorite for nostalgia. That movie changed my entore life and made me a fan. So.... after thinking about it:

Manny said in an interview that he actually did nearly all of the fighting, including when the helmet was on. He did an amazing job

I was really hoping the Sith was Manny because I KNEW he'd do an amazing job. He has the moves.
Manny Jacinto was so slick in this episode. The way he almost slides between his attacks, the way he speaks, even the moisture on his bare arms. The dude exudes this slippery aura of evil and it is the most intensely awesome thing for them to do with his character. I love him and i would like more.

I like all the references Qimir keeps making to the sith code. In episode 2 he says "peace is a lie" and here he says all he wants is freedom. "The force shall set me free".
That's a really good catch. He's really incarnating the code.
Also, he says to Mae she is weak while binded, then proceeds to cut her binders. "Through strenght I gain victory. Through victory , I break my chains".
He could have just killed her here. But even that was a lesson. He broke her chains.
At the same time... "A Jedi like you may call me Sith".
He may not consider himself Sith, or at least not a "Rule of Two" Sith. Might be the beginning of the Knights of Ren.

This episode really felt like a High Republic era novel brought to life. Where our main cast of characters don't have plot armor and can die at any moment.
idk why but the way he snapped that guy's neck was so brutal. No saber, no sci fi, just good ol' fashion murder. Really makes his character feel so brutal.
He proved that killing a Jedi without a weapon is entirely possible. He just tossed the body aside like it was nothing

Both characters we did not expect, or even want, to die were even more intense and starting and downright heartbreaking because of the suddenness and the brutality and the grittiness.

Headbutting your rivals lightsabers to deactivate them is one of the funniest and Badass things I've seen a Star Wars villain do, good chapter, one of the most shocking chapters of the saga so far
It's such a badass thing to block something that can instantly kill a person with your friggin head.

@@KevinDiazx11 They say it in the vid, it's cortosis. It short circuits lightsabers for a bit and is resistant to blasters too, but kinda crap as armor against physical hits. It's very brittle, hence why it flies off after getting punched a bunch.

This is without a shadow of a doubt the best lightsaber fighting we’ve seen since Mustafar, whoever did the choreography for this show should be kept on board moving forward.
Which is sad because youtubers can do better than this with no budget when this has every possible dollar to use.
I believe it was the same guy involved with Shang Chi, The Kingsman, The Witcher, etc.

@@GreenFalcon926 I really don't think that Qimir is a Sith at all, but rather a "Dark Jedi" who the Jedi would, in their narrow-minded manner, believe to be Sith. I could very well be proven wrong in later episodes, but for the time being I think we're either dealing with a Jedi who has simply fallen to the Dark Side without actually pursuing the tenets of the Sith, OR another, possibly new, denomination of Dark Side wielders.

Hearing Kylo Ren's motif this episode TWICE. Plus Qimir saying the Jedi would call one like him a "Sith" feels like too specific of wording. I think it's totally possible since the reveal of him was so obvious that the REAL reveal is that this guy is the first Ren, leader of the Knights of Ren. Which I think would be really cool, especially if Mae or Osha end up being his successor, I think it opens up the opportunity for that lineage of stories leading down to Ben in the sequel trilogy too. But we shall watch with great interest...
The attire gave that since the first reveal of him. The helmet and dirty arm gave that vibe immediately to me, I’m so surprised how little the knights of Ren are mentioned with this
Also got the sence if he is the Apprentice and there is still an unknown Master out there, maybe he has not been granted his "Darth" title yet. So that is why he has no name.

I'm still upset about it... especially with losing Jecki, I really loved her character. Dafne did a really great job. I never would've guessed losing either of Jecki or Yord. I assumed we had plenty of future stories for them beyond this initial season. Looking forward to see where they take us with these remaining 3 episodes.
The guys were joking about this being a "in the past" episode, but I could totally see the next episode being just that. We're gonna get to see what happened that night. Either in the next episode, or the episode just before the finale.

Manny Jacinto was finally able to open up about his role after yesterday's episode. In an interview published by Entertainment Weekly, Manny and his co-star Dafne Keen reflected on their time shooting the episode. Manny also revealed during the interview that he asked to do his own stunts. It's Manny under the mask the entire time!
He released some footage and it's fantastic.
This is the most aggressive and fastest moving lightsaber fight we have ever scene in live action. I can’t think of another fight that is equal parts terrifying and equal parts as ruthless. Quimir here was more composed and brutal than even Anakin in ROTS.
Agreed! The speed of the prequels but with more weight. The strikes seemed heavier.
@@MasterDoctorBenji cause they were using grappling and hand to as well as the characters moving their feet a lot more. It’s actually much better choreography. The only thing that was bad was the way too many overhead strikes and not enough thrusting.
@@MylesKillis Yeah, because you would want to drag it out. If this was done the traditional, real way, the person wielding the lightsaber would aim in finishing the fight in a few strikes and not drag it out. That would be closer to what we got in Rebels. Obi Wan vs Maul on Tatooine. Which isn't always exciting.
It upsets me more than I thought it would that we won’t be getting any more Jecki & Yord. Dafne Keen killed it in that fight, I hope she can come back as another character like Ahmed Best did.

Please note that Quimir performed a double decapitation on the two Jedi he shishkabobbed. The camera had the tree prevent us from seeing that, though. This show pushed some brutal boundaries for a Disney show.
I'd said it before, and I'll say it again, if Disney wants to get brutal, they can get brutal! However, it's up to this generation on how brutal they can be.

Seeing cortosis worked into the choreography of the fights was really satisfying. And seeing him headbutt a saber and making it short-circuit wasn't something I thought I needed to see but I'm really happy they did it.

You know, there's something really compelling about a "wilderness years" Sith. Palpatine had a euphoria about him, a sense of glee about his impending victory. Darth Teeth, however, feels persecuted, forced to live on the fringes of society, basically has the viciousness of a cornered rat.

There's definitely more to the mystery of who Qimir is and what his affiliations are.
He did say "Jedi like you might call me Sith". He didn't explicitly say he identified as a Sith, and he even said he had no name for what he was.
The series was described as a dive into the underworld of dark side mysteries, so I think Osha is going to be introduced to a new cast of dark characters.
I'm also still pretty sure he's affiliated with a witch in some way considering he was eating spice creams in episode 2.
Dafne Keene was excellent with two sabers, and I'm so sad we'll never get a chance to see her do more with them.

Idk. At the very least he has to at least have been trained by a Sith. The fact he even knows the word Sith and quoted the Sith creed at least twice that I’ve heard suggests he’s not simply a dark side user invoking the Sith for convenience. Most of the universe probably aren’t even aware that the Sith were ever a thing at this point given how long they’ve been in hiding. If he’s not Sith himself there must be some pulling the strings.
I believe Quimir definitely has a sith master out there.
Not a fan of the show but it does suck that a lot of the newest promising additions added lately are dying off (whether it be real life circumstances, Baylan Skoll, or Jeki and Yord..)

Easily the best live action fight we’ve had since ROTS. Dafne Keen was born to wield a lightsbaer much like Hayden was. Hope she will get to play another Star Wars character one day
This show was her test for her to maybe play Ahsoka in a live Action Clone Wars series and her test In Ahsoka was part and to see her as Jedi as well

There could be a scene though where Yoda isnt sure about her or can tell she is lying, Yoda didnt want to spread the Sith Rumor but Windu isnt a smart jedi like Yoda is or older Jedi

So good, thank you for not being like some other RUclipsrs. This show has the BEST live action Star Wars combat, period. This episode needed to deliver and it did. Loved it.
I still can’t believe they brought the Cortosis armor from the books and comics into live action. It’s a material that nullifies blaster shots and temporarily disables lightsabers. In canon it was seen in the novel Thrawn: Alliances and in the Doctor Aphra comics.
It’s incredibly rare and even harder to refine into armor, and while it’s relatively weak against strong impacts, it can nullify blaster bolts and deactivate lightsabers temporarily upon impact.
If I was Qimir, I would be taking that helmet back, even if it is broken.

I am so down with this villain. It’s oddly refreshing that his motivation is just “cos I wanna”.
He’s good parts threatening and silly, like evil Yoda. And he’s jacked, damn those arms.
I've rewatched this fight over and over and I honestly think it might be my favorite choreography-wise in Star Wars. The Luke vs Vader duel on the Death Star II is still my all-time favorite, but that has tons of character drama interwoven that I love. This new Sith also has *so* much charisma in just his body language, let alone his spoken performance.
First thing I thought when I finished the episode was “the Crew are gonna love this one”
Loved the choreography for the lightsaber fight!
The Kylo theme was definitely intentional in my opinion. It was note for note. Qimir also possesses similar aesthetics to the “Ren” from the comics; Gauntlet on one hand, a helmet, a sleeveless robe etc. It can’t be a coincidence because it’s too specific. Plus it makes sense for someone that wants a “pupil, an acolyte” rather than an apprentice.
I really enjoyed seeing Eric's just Pure Excitement in one of the best Streaming Live Action fights. I just want to give a Shoutout to Stunt Coordinator Mark Ginther, Junchang Lu & Manny Jacinto. Because it can be seen how much Love they put into this episode. Eric also, I will steal the phrase Sith-Kabob! TY

When Qimir heals Osha at the end, Kylo Ren's music starts playing in the background. Therefore, it is very possible that he is the founder or a member of the Knights of Ren.

So outside of awesome choreography the most exciting part was Kylo’s theme played.

It definitely seems like he isn't officially Sith. Sith have titles and names, its odd that he says he has no name... Since he planned on killing them all anyway, I'm surprised a legit Sith would not brag or at least give his Sith name or title. My guess is he was trained to be Sith, but he seems to be in it for himself or have gone rogue, not the Sith plans. He wants "freedom" to use his power as he wishes, which may mirror the Sith code, but in universe he'd either need to be the master or apprentice, and I have a hard time seeing the end game of a centuries long Sith ploy here.
So yeh, it could be the start of the Knights of Ren. I'm definitely excited to learn more about them since the sequels did so little to expand on it.
@@lespaul5734They try to keep that a secret. In the Prequel Trilogy Palpatine nor his apprentices tell our heroes their Sith names. Only when Palpatine wins does Vader become semi-public.

You may be right, but Sith are often arrogant, boastful and proud. Afterall they rely on negative emotions. Why would he even bring up that they may see him as Sith if it's only to downplay his significance to a "nobody". I could be wrong, but if he's Sith, he would ha e said it with his full chest instead of making that distinction, and he wouldn't call himself nameless

Not that I care for viewer ratings anyways, but it is funny how not even 5 episodes in, "The Acolyte" has more viewer ratings than all 3 seasons of "The Mandolorian" combined. Thanks to Eric, Rick, Calvin and Aaron! 🌑 It's great to see the energy absorption metal cortosis brought into live-action. I'm glad *Eric* noticed a bit of the 'Kylo Ren' theme played as 'Qimir' knelt and covered 'Osha' with his cloak.
Think it's important to listen to what Qimir said.
Qimir did not claim to be a sith, only that the jedi would title him as such.
Not saying he isn't a sith, but I think he worded it that way for a reason.
Also was reciting lines from from the sith code, has a red lightsaber, is killing jedi. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck
Also the wookiepedia which was fine to use last week for Ki-Adi-Mundi's age says he's sith, so does the actor playing him, also it was marketed as a sith story

I've seen a lot of people mentioning the whole Kylo Ren theme and helmet design connection. Maybe he has or will be the progenitor of the Knights of Ren.
Yeah, like as a Sith his name is like Darth Ren and his appearance to the wider galaxy is viewed as the beginning of the Knights of Ren and not related back to the Sith. People are misinformed about him and that covers up the Sith for now.

The lightsaber combat was some of the best disney has done, just amazing. It stuck the perfect balance between the prequels and sequels, hopefully the person who choreographed this does future live action shows.

Such a perfect episode. One of the top duels we’ve ever gotten. I like the detail of how well Sol and Jecki fight together, they play well off each other, which you’d expect from a master and apprentice
Im calling it now: in the finale either Osha or Sol is going to fall to the Dark Side and kill the other and become a Sith Acolyte. Currently im leaning towards it being Sol
Qimir is built different. 8 Jedi went against him and he won. I’m certain that’s cortosis weaved into his helmet and vambraces.
By the end I thought Osha, Sol and Jecki would be the remaining survivors. But not even the latter was safe! RIP
With Osha in his clutches, she’ll probably learn the truth of what happened. We only saw her point of view and not from Sol’s. That could drive her to being his new acolyte.
Yeah it's pretty much confirmed cortosis was used. It was already a part of canon in the books and comics.

it's confirmation bias : those who decided to hate the show before it aired will check for anything to comfort their position and ignore anything or any reason that might go out of their bias. It's not a perfect show, probably a 7 out of 10, but it is clearly not as bad as what those people try to portray it.
That was the only good part about the show to me. Good fight scenes and villain. Couldn’t care less about anything else really.

Even though almost everyone expected Qimir to be the possible Sith Lord, he is just so good that now I wish the last 3 episodes focus more on his story.

Qimir's Plot twist was predictable, but a good plot twist does not necessarily have to be the most elaborate, the execution, presentation and what it implies is also equally or even more important, and Jacinto did it great in his dialogues, presence and corporality
I liked how when he grabbed Mae he was like “really? You didn’t know? 🤨”
Loving the theory that Qimir is a Knight of Ren. He looks pretty similar to Ren (NOT KYLO, a different dude) who wore a mask and a vambrace in the same place. Also supports the “you Jedi would call me Sith” line because the Knights of Ren technically aren’t Sith but are darksiders

I knew, out of all the reactors, this would be the place that would catch everything about the lightsaber fights. Best off the cuff analysis of such things. Spotted Cortsis immediately. Realized Osha was going to kite the bugs with her light. Already had a term for the Sith-Kabob. And appropriate mixed of "that was so cool, but I'm upset" when the stabbing happens. Excellent reaction and review.
One thing I haven't seen many people talk about is the line Sol says to Qimir after he said he was possibly Sith which is "Why risk being exposed?". Qimir responds in jest saying "Well... I wore a mask.." BUT the more interesting thing about this exchange is what Sol said. Which would mean Sol and possibly the Jedi KNEW the Sith were always still around and just actively in hiding.

Cortosis was also featured in Thrawn alliances when Anakin and Thrawn were trying to stop that factory. The metal those droids were made out of were cortosis.

Cortosis was an important part in the second canon Trawn novel. Where Thrawn, Anakin and Padmé discover the factory where the Separatists are working on droids made of cortosis. (And it is also implied that sidious is interested in clone armor made out of cortosis to make order 66 even more effective)
