I know. She kept getting nominated but never won. She looked so hopeful at 5:09. I figured TDVDS would sweep that year since it was their last, but why not later? Lucille Ball's best work was on "I Love Lucy," not "The Lucy Show."
I love Mary TM, but Elizabeth Montgomery is my favorite TV actress. The fact that Liz was nominated nine times throughout her career and NEVER won is a sin!! Something is wrong with the TV Academy.
Elizabeth Montgomery may not have received an Emmy or a Golden Globe, but she had something else, millions of fans who loved her, and still do, not just in the US, but internationally. BEWITCHED has been on the air for almost fifty years, gaining new fans in different generations. It has been the spur for similar shows like CHARMED, SUPERNATURAL, and SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH. But for me, BEWITCHED will always be #1. Finally, some think that Liz didn't win an award, because she didn't play the Hollywood game. Love the commercial with her in this clip.
The Emmy's, 1966, when Hollywood were just normal American's who just happened to be on TV. My father was a mailman and used to deliver mail to many celebrities on his route, and most of them, despite fame, lived in normal sized houses, not behind high walls and gates.
Quake & Quisp, two more examples of how you can recycle the same cereal in new shapes and still manage to gull the kids to ask their parents for it. (All it was was Cap'n Crunch in different shapes.) That was William Conrad as Quake, and the ubiquitous Daws Butler as Quisp.
So much energy in these clips and reflecting the times; funny how there is effort to mimic this in the past couple decades, with false persona and special effects, yet it falls flat and can't capture a spark from the life in these analog productions.
I liked how they said, "Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear," just as it changed from color to black & white. Talk about truth in advertising...
Some of them were on Merv Griffon's talk show about that time. Showed the whole Black Knight scene from Holy Grail. Cut to Merv, and he looked like he'd been poleaxed. And not in a good way, he couldn't see the funny in the clip at all. Lost a lot of respect for him right then and there. One of the funniest 'skits' I've ever seen. Not that it could ever be filmed today.
7:36- "NO HOLDS BARRED" lasted exactly four episodes (the original "Go-Go's" appeared as musical guests during one of them). During this period, Kelly also starred on a very successful variety show on the BBC....which lasted a lot longer.
Note to Hollywood--watch the clip from the Emmys. That's how it's done. No politics. All class. Short and sweet. And you CAN call the person who wins "the WINNER".
I remember that Emmy show. The Dick VanDyke show took everything they were nominated for. I knew they had decided to end it and I was wondering if they were sorry now that they won all those Emmys.
oh, I know! How could they not give her an award for all the years on Bewitched?! And she was the lead actress, wasn't MTM just a supporting character on DVD show?
Elizabeth Montgomery was definitely robbed multiple times by the Emmys/TV Academy. Liz did not play "industry games." She was modest and didn't like to talk about herself or her private life. She played many diverse roles with a great deal of economy and believably.
That guy buried under that avalanche of mail in the Post Office PSA would go on later to a recurring role on "Murder She Wrote." Sadly, I don't remember his name...
The ZIP Code on that one letter was to Smithtown, New York. The Smithtown Post Office is actually in The Village of the Branch, and has had a reputation for offering unique stamp denominations.
@@landryroad : I agree 100%. Liz was on "BEWITCHED" for eight years; 1964-1972. She ended the series when her marriage to William Asher ended in divorce.
Crikey those Emmys! ..everyone looks like they hate being there especially Dick Van Dyke, they cancel his show and then they give him an effing trophy LOL
David Janssen at 3:33. I said that Brett Kavanaugh should have blamed it on the one-armed-man he saw at the party, but nobody I know got the reference.
Ah yes! When awards shows were just simply awards! No political speeches. No political and social grievances either. Acceptance speeches were short and to the point. And that's it.
I wish that they gave an Emmy award to Elizabeth Montgomery at least once.
I know. She kept getting nominated but never won. She looked so hopeful at 5:09. I figured TDVDS would sweep that year since it was their last, but why not later? Lucille Ball's best work was on "I Love Lucy," not "The Lucy Show."

They gave Alice Pearce hers After she died..She had been nominated 2x B4
Liz Montgomery deserved it much more

Thank you Fred. Such great stuff always.
Gosh what CLASS! Look at those gorgeous hairstyles and gowns! I have never seen MTM look more beautiful!

"The Dick Van Dyke Show" still remains one of the best. But hang on Mary, the best was yet to come!
Mary didn't deserve the Emmy. Elizabeth did
“The City of Saigon has just fallen to the Communists…and now for something completely different…”
Excellent use of 'Sunday Will Never Be The Same' by Spanky And Our Gang, for the Plymouth commercial!
Too bad they couldn't get Spanky to sing it instead of Petula Clark.
That's Honey West!! Aka Anne Francis! She passed away in 2011 at the age of 80.. I loved that show of hers..Too bad it only lasted 1 season.
I liked how they said, "Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear," just as it changed from color to black & white. Talk about truth in advertising...
April 25, 1975: 3/5 of Monty Python visit "AM America", the predecessor Show of "Good Morning America". Great way to start it off Fred. :)

Love Mary Tyler Moore but I think Elizabeth Montgomery should have won!! 2 beautiful and amazing actresses!!
Very funny that MTM incorrectly predicts there will never be a occasion like that again.
Note to Hollywood--watch the clip from the Emmys. That's how it's done. No politics. All class. Short and sweet. And you CAN call the person who wins "the WINNER".
"NO HOLDS BARRED" lasted exactly four weeks.
check out Marys hair in that clip from the Emmys! LOL
I noticed it too. You could build a tree house in that.
ROFL!!
How about Anne Francis hair?
I can't believe they were so straight laced. I expected them to start the results of the bi-elections and the wins of the silly party.
Wide World of Sports showed damn near anything. They even showed pro wrestling three times.
Saturdays are never the same without ABC's Wide World Of Sports. Guess that role belongs to ESPN & Fox Sports.
So funny, mail is almost obsolete.
I remember that Emmy show. The Dick VanDyke show took everything they were nominated for. I knew they had decided to end it and I was wondering if they were sorry now that they won all those Emmys.
You have a great memory.
I was 12, and I loved the show. What can I say?
PS. I don't remember anything else about those Emmys.
Mary Tyler Moore thought this would never happen again. Boy was she wrong.
Elizabeth Montgomery should have won. She was robbed so many times especially for The Legend of Lizzie Borden.
Bewitched is still popular, lol Mary Tyler Moore show is unheard of, Elizabeth Montgomery should have won
That actor was Bill McCutcheon.
I remember AM American. It preceded Good Morning America.
2019 and Elizabeth Montgomery was robbed!!! No one watches mary tyler moore now.. But we still watch bewitched
She should have won! Probably why she quit the show.
Yep, ridiculous she never got an award for Bewitched!
@@landryroad : I agree 100%. Liz was on "BEWITCHED" for eight years; 1964-1972. She ended the series when her marriage to William Asher ended in divorce.
@@jac7124 : YES: BEYOND RIDICULOUS!!!!!!
HAHAHAHA, love the CBS poll about the 1980 POTUS election. No different than today, LOL.
Mary was MUCH better in her own show and deservedly won then. I didn't care much for her with DVan Dycke
You can see through Ann Francis's dress, it must be cold in there.
Crikey those Emmys! ..everyone looks like they hate being there especially Dick Van Dyke, they cancel his show and then they give him an effing trophy LOL
Dick Van Dyke wasn't canceled. The cast and producers decided to end it while they were on top and before it stale.
I’m so confused., Elizabeth Montgomery should have won many awards. She was way more talented then the rest of those people
Those were the days when celebrities didn’t start by thanking some god for their win.
6:20- Bill McCutcheon.
I remember Bill McCutcheon dressed as Hitler on the back cover of Mad magazine in the '70s, with the caption "So Why Not...Pardon Hitler?"
Liz should of won hands down
I agree: 100%.
David Janssen at 3:33. I said that Brett Kavanaugh should have blamed it on the one-armed-man he saw at the party, but nobody I know got the reference.
Tim Conway was a great comedian, but he simply couldn't carry a weekly series by himself.
I liked the Crest ad with June Lockhart before she got "Lost In Space".
Ah yes! When awards shows were just simply awards! No political speeches. No political and social grievances either. Acceptance speeches were short and to the point. And that's it.
hahaha
