Hidden/Removed Scene (Tifa and Cloud)

  • Normally you can't escape the bar at this point, Tifa will always interrupt your leave and no matter what dialogue choice you make you can't bail on her. But thanks to a nifty little GameShark code I made it possible.
It turned out you were obviously once supposed to be able to just run out of there and trigger this hidden scene. Most of its dialogue has unfortunately been removed from the English versions, but there is still some text in the very end.
When talking to Johnny, you are given a dialogue choice, this choice results in different dialogues so I included both in the video.
After having had a closer look at the regular scene inside the bar I found that apart from the first outdoors box which probably goes something like "Hey, hold on!" the rest of the boxes up to the flashback is just as in the normal scene. But after the flashback...
    TEXT FROM JAPANESE VERSION
Translation by GlitterBerri with help from Chocomilk.
Check out Glitterberrie's blog at berriblue.blogs... for more hidden and/or translated stuff.
    Tifa:
Looks like you remembered our promise.
    Cloud:
I'm not a hero and I'm not famous.
    I... can't keep the promise.
    Tifa:
But your childhood dream came true, right?
    You joined SOLDIER.
    Tifa:
So, what are you going to do now?
    Cloud:
    ...... I'll look for Sephiroth.
    Tifa:
    Sephiroth...... is alive?
    Cloud:
If he's dead, I'll leave it at that.
    But if he's alive...
...I'll have to settle matters once and for all.
    Tifa:
    "Settle matters"?
    Cloud:
    5 years ago... Nibelheim.
    Our home town, he...
    Tifa:
    ......
    Cloud:
Don't you feel the same, Tifa?
    You went through something horrible.
    Tifa:
Cloud... you know about what happened?
    Cloud:
I know everything... I remember it well.
    Tifa:
    ......
    Cloud:
    Huh? What's wrong?
    Tifa:
    ......Cloud, you remember......
    Barret:
    Hey!!
How long are you going to stand here talking so seriously!!
    Tifa:
    I understand.
You're going to look for Sephiroth.
    Tifa:
But... if you change your mind, come back to us.
Executed on the Final Fantasy VII [PAL] (English) PSX version.
    Enjoy :)

wow, this is actually a really important scene. normally tifa doesn't find out that cloud has memories of the nibelheim incident until he tells the story at kalm - she doesn't think he was there, and ought to be confused, but doesn't say anything. with this scene, we're signaled that there's something wrong with cloud's memories, plus we get a little backstory on sephiroth. neat.

I think it's good that they ultimately decided to hold off on Cloud wanting to look for Sephiroth until after the Shinra building section, since the big twist later on at the Northern Crater in Disc 2 is that Cloud's drive, his "need" to find Sephiroth was actually just him answering the Reunion call like all the other "clones" who had Jenova's cells. It would make less sense with this scene in the game because Jenova's more or less completely dormant until she wakes up later on in the Shinra building when Cloud sorta "makes contact" with her.

hmm so in here this scene begins the confusing memories of Cloud and Tifa, because as we all know Tifa didn't know cloud was there as a guard, but cloud thinks he was there as someone else because cloud got Zacks memories. when he and him were expiremented on with Jenova cells. I can see how they took this out seeing how sorta anti-climatic/dramatic it would have been building up to sepiroth and tifa and such. Thanks for posting up this pwns.

  • @VaatiOfDarkness
    @VaatiOfDarkness 15 лет назад +6

  • @Jadicegirl
    @Jadicegirl 15 лет назад +10

Thanks for putting this up, it was really interesting. Overall, I think this scene being deleted was a wise decision. Way too much of the future plot is exposed here, and it would have made later flashbacks to Nibelheim by Cloud and Tifa far less shocking than they were. I'd say the game editors really did their job here. :-)

Actually, the word "clone" was a mistranslation. They never meant it as what we define a clone as today.

    • @JackBz
      @JackBz 3 года назад

@Damian The original says something more akin to copy, rather than clone. Clone makes it sound like a literal clone of sephiroth, but what it actually meant was they were made strong the same way he was by injecting them with jenova cells and exposing them to mako

Cloud's statements regarding pursing Sephiroth doesn't seem to make sense to me because Cloud had no idea that Sephiroth was alive, in fact he thought he was dead when he threw him into the lifestream so why would Cloud pursue Sephiroth to figure out whether he's alive or not? As if Sephiroth's "death" was ambiguous?

Raheem Plummer he didnt remember throwing Sephiroth into the stream, in his flashback at kalm he only remembered him vs sephiroth then his memories ended, i almost believe this cutscene could still work in the game, just seems like it awkwardly throws a few different wrenches into the story progression i guess, like the 2nd mako reactor mission is supposed to happen which led to meeting aeris, shinra tower, headless jenova and THEN following sephiroth... that got long winded fast XD

I get why this was cut, it makes more obvious that’s something wrong with Clouds (or Tifa’s) recollection of events. It’s was hinted at well enough through the game, this would be too much.
Also it kinda ruins Sef’s introduction. Although 80% would’ve forgot about all of that before the time this information would be actually relevant.

Like BrutalAI says, anyone who insists they've seen this scene in a normal playthrough has a bad eye for detail or is lying. The regular scene plays out entirely inside the bar, Sephiroth is only mentioned in the flashback (which isn't shown here), and the burning of Nibelheim isn't hinted at. You also aren't confronted by Johnny and his buddies until the next day, and the dialogue is shorter and much different. Also, the PSP version is an emulated version of the original game. No differences.

everyone who says that this IS normal is an idiot. I just started playing this game again for the first time in a few years, just recently got to this part and you CANNOT leave the bar. you CANT. this IS an scene that wasnt able to be seen without codes. Thanks for the video, its cool to know that cloud was really after seph this early in the game, and its also cool to know that tifa knows that cloud knows about the reactor incident. Good stuff.

The Jenova cells create an innate link. Hence the Reunion. Since Sephiroth was birthed with the cells, his integration was pure and more developed. which is why he's such a freak (lol) Hojo took advantage of Cloud after the incident to develop the Soldier Project along with Zack. Zack is also found alive outside of Midgar when you find him in a Retro Rocket Booster saying sound effects.

From what I remember, some of this conversation takes place in the bar. But as for it being outside, nope, I've never seen them talking outside 7th Heaven.

This makes a lot more sense now. I never quite got why Tifa never seemed surprised that Cloud remembered, only confused about what he remembered. As far as she knew, he wasn't there at all. Once he started telling the story, I guess his conviction in his own memory caused her to question her own, or something, but at least she knew that he was THERE.

The Midgar part of the game makes much more sense like this, giving Cloud a motivation to find Sephiroth, and mentioning Nibelheim is nice foreshadowing, too.

I'm playing the game on PC, I think the childhood memory conversation part is in the game, just not in this town so early in the game, but in Nibelheim (not sure). The last part of scolding of the kids is not in my game.

    WRONG!
The Coma Cloud was in from Nibelheim gave him amnesia. The Sephiroth Cells injected into Cloud caused Cloud to ABSORB Zack's memories. He also later absorbed Tifa's memories when they met again after Zack's death. Cloud combined the two memories to figure out who he was. It's also why Cloud knew a lot of things he wasn't supposed to which caused Tifa to freak out.
During the game when that voice speaks to Cloud, it's his sub-conscious trying to get his mind back on track.

Keeping this might have cleared up the story line a bit...
