While being used to treat an underlying disease gluocorticoids are associated with an appreciable risk of bone loss and increases risk of fracture, which is most pronounced in the first few months of use. In general risk of fracture increases with age, dose and duration of use. Risk of fractures increase with doses as low as 2.5 to 7.5 mg daily."

This is why one needs to take *Calcium and Vitamin D supplements* while on Cortisone!!
Thanks for explaining how it happens! This really helped me understand this.
I wonder if there are any interventional studies on the use of supplementation. It would be interesting to see the reduction of incidence
Sir your pharmacology videos helped me. A lot during my pharmacy graduation... 🤘👍👍

Great video.

Very good as always! But the osteocytes are the mature form of the osteoblasts. Where do you get the information about the negative feed back of the cortisol in the synthesis of FSH and LH? Thank you very much for the class!
For any still needing more info on cortisol neg feedback loop and FSH/LH even after reading research of subject online try ‘stress response system and glucocorticoid gene receptor with effect on pituitary hormone release.’ Tie back to literature on glucocorticoids and bones. Most effect within first 6 months and doses low as 2.5 mg (with chronic use) has neg effect per bal of studies.
Thank you so much sir for help full. Videos kindly upload a video on Meister cycle topic plzzz
