@@Cat-jq2me The key is to never accept any behavior you don't want. If you take charge than the dog doesn't feel the need to. It's ok to punish the dog. Sometimes punishment can just be ignoring the dog. Nothing physical. Or a pop with a leash and collar. This tells them you are in charge now. And once you get that across you barely have to do it. But the key is to stop bad behaviors before they happen. You can tell when your dog is about to go off. And start correcting before they act bad. G

This is the exact situation with me and my dog. He does great with everyone except me. I finally just recently figured out I had to work on my own confidence in addition to dog training and my dog has gotten so much better recently.
That’s awesome! Did he have a bite history? I just got a rescue who has a bite history (has already bitten me, too) and I think his issues stem from insecurity/overbabying by previous owners. I’m working on my leadership with him, but it’s really scary when the stakes are so high.
Big powerful dogs can be beyond scary. This owner clearly loves her dog very much and wants to do whatever it takes to get to where they both need to be (to successfully function in society). Good on her for taking on the necessary steps and good job Tom for your training methods. It’s awesome to watch you “figure out the dogs as individuals” and try what you think will work best for them rather than try and apply your methods as a blanket training across the board. Keep up the good work!

The explanation of taking the collar off at night is worth thousands. Tom is always very relatable to the real world. That is the start of creating an unbalanced relationship w a dog for their own safety
Oh boy…”too much love and not enough leadership…” that hits home for me and it is starting to show in my dog by being aggressive towards others but especially family member in the household. Those words are truly a wake up call to me. Love all of your videos. Thanks Tom!

Especially as they may have missed something in person with as much new information as is being given. Super helpful for other owners too who may be having similar issues!
We, people see tools a great deal when it comes to helping us, but a bad deal when it comes to helping our dogs. I really liked the lady, she had very pertinent questions trying to dissect when one command is more appropriate then other. I know I learned something today. Thank you
I admire people who are willing to work with their dogs rather than just put them down because they seem aggressive. KUDOS to both the trainer and owner. Saved another life.
Bro! You're showing your skills with this tough case! Cheers to the owner as well! So glad you are available to people, both at your facility and on RUclips. I love how he explained everything to the owner and how she responded. It's great!!!! I have a prong collar and a vibration collar for my dog.... And it helps A LOT!!!!
Love the way you show owner learning more than you training dog. I think we need videos with both. It's nice to know how to do it well which you make it look easy, since you're so experienced. But it's also important for us to see the process of owner learning and making mistakes, and I loved how this video was almost 100% her doing the retraining of Nala. They are in good hands and can't wait to see even more progress. I've got a fear reactive heeler mix rescue, also named Nala, that came to me about three weeks into binging your channel last fall, so helpful as we're trying to learn together. She that other dogs aren't a threat. I the psychology of dogs abs her breeds. This channel has been a live saver,as I gained so much wisdom and insight and confidence which was essential to her success from moment one. Tho tbh she had little that needed worked on, as it's obvious she's had training in some of the basics in her past. But I would have "ruined her" was it not for all I've gained in understanding the basics humans need to be successful owners. Thank you so much. And keep up the good work and growing in your tweaks to the way you teach/produce content.
I love watching these videos because it might not apply to my puppy right now, but it is things I can look out for and work on if it ever starts. Honestly just the small bits of advice like not treating your dog like a human and loving your pet too much can lead to obedience issues. These tips will help me to think in a way for my puppy to understand what I expect of her and that in the end is the love and care she also needs.
Great training, I loved how she really wanted to learn what he was trying to teach her. It was little confusing but more questions she asked it made more sense. Great job to all of them. Good team work.
I loved this video!! I love the questions the owner asked!! These are all great questions. Tom does an amazing job of explaining "I can get your dog to listen, but YOU need to get your dog to listen. What happens when I (Tom) am not there?" This is such good training!!!
We need more dog owners like this girl. I had a rescue dog and she was so overprotective of me and it was hard work teaching her that other people were ok it took 3 years but it was worth it.
I love that she’s asking questions and wanting to learn more, it’s so important these breed of dogs are with someone that can understand them and the breed.

She’s such a good girl. Just very insecure and protective. You can overbaby a dog.
Love the fact that you had a 2 week interval and showed progress. Keep up the awesome work and helping these awesome dogs and owners.
Thank you so much!
It seems like you’ve adjusted your training techniques to allow the owner to be more physically involved in the process and I think that’s wonderful!
This is my dog ! I have taken him to trainers & they always say let me work with him alone & they'll fix the problem but he doesn't act like this so I know it's me. Thanks so much for you knowledge to help those of us who need help.
It's almost always the person. Usually 1st time dog owners. The good news is once you realize it, everything gets much easier.
Things strat to make sense. Good luck
@@bonezzzz6330 Thanks. I've learned allot by watching Tom's videos but still need to learn lots more. I have lung disease & the sicker I get the more my Pittie feels he needs to take protect me. But with the help of Tom's videos I've learned the signs to prevent things before they escalate. So this was a great video for me.
@@Cat-jq2me
The key is to never accept any behavior you don't want. G
You need someone to work with you one on one.
@@roughhdiamond168 I agree. Trust me I haven't stopped looking for the right person. Right now with my lung disease & this heat, it's made it very hard.
I am so impressed with how well this owner took to her own training on how to work with her dog. She was so invested and asked great questions. Thank you for sharing this case with us!
4:30 That second pop got her attention, not the pull before that. That was awesome to see.
Nala meant business!! Props to the owner for all the work!!
Yup!
Her owner is coming along with her own confidence and it shows! Nala will find hers through Momma’s strength. Really proud of her Momma loving her enough to commit to helping her, even when it means she needs to change some things about herself/ self confidence. Says a lot about her heart and I hope they stick with the training and we get an update video!!
@@juliaalvarez537 you make no sense.
The owner is amazing!! She wants to learn so eagerly! I love that!
You can see the change in the body language at Nala and the owner, amazing!
I agreeee
I absolutely love this! So many dogs get put down cause they wasn't properly trained.
You are so patient , I love and appreciate that. Good job as always understanding the dog and the owner🤗🐕🦺
Thanks so much!
i hope the puppers eye was ok looks like she was pulling so hard she bust her own eye on the muzzle or bust a vessel from stressing - so so glad people really make use of all the training equiptment tools available and behaviourists can help puppers under stress like this :) stunning dog and great training learning material thanks Tom and upstate squad for educating and sharing to make it safer for all
She's a good owner. Want to learn to have a better pet and he's an amazing human trainer. On the end he's teaching owners to understand our dogs....

So many great tips to take away thanks to the owner asking so many great questions. So many times its not the actual dog, its the owners having to learn how to work with their animal.
Amazing work!! You can 100% tell the difference once the owner had more confidence!
Hell yes!
The explanation of taking the collar off at night is worth thousands. Tom is always very relatable to the real world. That is the start of creating an unbalanced relationship w a dog for their own safety
I am very thankful for this guy he’s helped me in so many ways and also my dog of course but I know how she feels it sucks
Thansk for watching!
I take away so much info from these videos for my reactive american bulldog. I use all of the tips and it truly is making such a difference!
So so so happy for you!
Oh boy…”too much love and not enough leadership…” that hits home for me and it is starting to show in my dog by being aggressive towards others but especially family member in the household. Those words are truly a wake up call to me. Love all of your videos. Thanks Tom!
I watch a few dog trainers and i've got to say Tom is amazing. They way he breaks things down is amazing and he explains everything that is going on with yourself and the dog its brilliant. Long Time supporter. keep up the good work. INFACT more content please!!!
It’s so great that these sessions are recorded. How helpful for the owners to be able to rewatch these and pick up on all the advise and tips.
Thank you
Yess, thanks for watching, Alex!
This owner is learning real well though!
Yes, she is
this guy is gonna hit a million subs, i mean he really understands dogs. Love you Tom, your videos alone have helped me raise my puppy wonderfully
I admire people who are willing to work with their dogs rather than just put them down because they seem aggressive. KUDOS to both the trainer and owner. Saved another life.
Thank you Tom, I have some clients that are in this area with their dogs. We always appreciate your support and help!! 🙏🏼🐺🇺🇸
Thanks so mucH!
Bro! You're showing your skills with this tough case! Cheers to the owner as well! So glad you are available to people, both at your facility and on RUclips. Have seen too many owners who are trying positive-only with these types of dog. It's not safe in a lot of situations. You did great, man! Always look forward to your vids!
The way you broke down the heel vs leave it question was perfect and made perfect sense. I had the same question and am so glad she asked that.
Love your personality , you don't sugarcoat , you put shit straight to the face
I love how he explained everything to the owner and how she responded. It's great!!!! I have a prong collar and a vibration collar for my dog.... And it helps A LOT!!!!
I think this is probably one of my favorite video yet. It touches so many important points.
What happens when I (Tom) am not there?" This is such good training!!!
great video & props to the owner for trying!
Thanks Fabiola!
We need more dog owners like this girl. I had a rescue dog and she was so overprotective of me and it was hard work teaching her that other people were ok it took 3 years but it was worth it.
NO! this insipid girl is the worst type of owner...feeble commands and insecure as heck.
The quality of information from this channel is priceless Thank you!
What amazing progress! I LOVE that the trainer has the OWNER doing the work instead of the owner watching and then trying to take over.
Some people don't realize that you just need to take the wheel. Be their leader!
That's right!
True just gotta get your doggie to realize that. So glad for these excellent training videos and all the no bad dog Army advise.
I love that she’s asking questions and wanting to learn more, it’s so important these breed of dogs are with someone that can understand them and the breed.
Just like this owner, teaching me to not be nervous 😬 s the hardest thing for me with my rescue Shepard mix. My husband does much better. But I WILL continue to watch your videos more than once. Thank you for being so helpful 👏
I can relate my doggie is my first big doggie and has shepherd in him along with dashound just keep faith and use tools for training and these excellent training videos. I'm a small person but my doggie is learning I'm the leader. Stay positive. Your part of the nobadogs Army.
It takes time.
Wise words my dude.
“ that’s why I’m putting you under so much pressure right now. Pressure makes diamonds” 👏👏👏

Pits are the best!! It’s all about the owners willingness to learn and how she can give this beautiful pup the best chance at a full long loving life! Keep up the good work! Such a good girl Nala💜

This was so informative, and great to watch! What a lovely owner, grabbing the bull by the horns and taking action despite her own nervousness!
What this video has led my mind to is the want to know more about different kinds of reactivity, how to recognize them, and how to act on them! My own dog reacts towards other dogs in excitement, and I find it hard to discourage him from it!
Great work, Tom!
I have two pitt/lab mixes. One is dog aggressive and the other is people aggressive. I am in constant fear that something will happen when I walk them. I deeply empathize with this lady and I'm glad to see that they can learn new and positive behaviors if I take the initiative.
This owner truly loves this dog. You can really tell that she is wanting to do everything for her to learn
Question, how tight should the prong collar be for the best results
So many dogs like this are just put down,
This is such a great video, hopefully more dogs can be saved because of it.

We are doing obedience and leadership training with him and it's helping a lot to understand how to correct the issue. The question she asked about when to say leave it vs heal was so helpful and I really needed to hear that. Thank you for your educational videos on this matter. It really helps!!
She's what I would call, "a good girl in training" - which is what I tell people when I don't want them close to my dog when she's nervous
“Nervous” is a euphemism for bloodthirsty demon. Which is exactly what 99% of pit bulls are.
@@jakeraught4939 exactly. These suburban idiots adopting these monsters.
@@nathanadkins4696 check the AKC temperance list - pitbulls are rated with a really high one, even better than golden retrievers! the issue with pits is that they are often dog reactive! The people who usually want a pit are those who just want a cool attack dog, so the are not trained properly.

They've been a big help with both aggressive dogs and fearful dogs.
You're one of the few trainers that puts up detailed information like this with aggressive dogs. Usually it requires a one-on-one video consult, or in person visit as shown in this video. Thanks so much for the transparency.
A favorite for me is the one in which you used a catchpole. I had already been using a stiff-lead... But your technique and instruction was very helpful and reassuring.
This is fantastic advice all put into one vid with a beautiful doggo. I love the messages you give out, how to be positive and equally respectful of your dog.
