Hi Thomas i'm glad you found my video entertaining. I used to travel up from Essex a lot in my younger spotting days but this was the only time i actually filmed there, which is a pity really.
Still, please have a browse through my channel, you may find a lot more there to bring back the memories. Thanks for watching, Colin.

Thanks for uploading. Eastfield was a place I visited a few times. I think the driver of 37406 was showing off 🤣.

I also went a few times...
My friends father was a train at Saltley in Birmingham...
So we were able to go round the yard ....
      I liked the 20s 26 and 33 ...
Was not a fan of electric locos...

Good catch, travelling from Inverness to Perth behind 47461, the only 47/4 to carry the Blue stripe Scotrail livery. Indeed, that same 47461 appears on my layout, and yes, it does work to Perth!

Great footage. Was on ad week Scotland rover around this period. Easter 88. Is this the year the Ness bridge collapsed in Inverness? Could have been 89.

Jings what memories, I might have been one of the dayshift Signalman on in Cowlairs PSB, that day. Sadly it's long gone, It was half NX panel at that time up to Eastfield the OCS through to Cadder, but yes what memories, I am sure that was also the 'Noddy' I seen reversing in Eastfield Passenger loop !!

Thanks very much for watching Martyn. That seems amazing to think you may have been on duty that day in Cowlairs box. I often go back and watch some of my old videos again, and this one and the one of Mossend still rank as two of my favourites.
      Regards, Colin.

@@colingarwood9971 Hi Colin. I always remember looking out the window as lot of people came to the spot where you filmed Eastfield. You really made my day when I seen it very nostalgic. I retired in 2016 and my last role was Current Operations Manager for Network Rail Control Scotland. As much as I enjoyed moving up the ranks of Senior Management in Scotland I loved my role as a Signalmen in Cowlairs PSB. If you are interested I was in an ITN programme about running the railways in poor weather a few years ago but if you would catch me in it as I know it’s on RUclips. Thanks so much again for putting up. Watching the 0955 to Inverness the 1000 push puller and the noddy not to mention the 37 at 69 signal departing Eastfield was amazing I will catch up with all your vides. Cheers Martyn

    • @colingarwood9971
      @colingarwood9971  3 года назад +1

      H Dave,
re both your comments i think the motorail had originated from Scotland, possibly Perth or Probably Inverness, and the sight of 47654 at Perth was not that uncommon back in those days, as it was part of a group of class 47s fitted with long range fuel tanks.
Incidentally, i live not far from Perth myself, at Glendevon.
      Colin.

@@colingarwood9971 I guess 47654 was a recent transfer to eastfield? I don't remember the motorail in 1988 from Perth, may have finished the year before, Stirling looks more likely
