Trackside UK
Добавлен 19 июн 2013
Hi, the brand name for my channel(s) is Trackside UK and Trackside Europe.
I started filming with a large handheld camcorder back in the late 80's and all through the 90's before catching up with
the latest technology and investing in a smaller camcorder and tripod in the 21st century. Since 2011 i also started to
venture to Europe and have since continued to film both there and in the UK. Ofcoarse the covid pandemic has restricted
my options a little bit but it has allowed me the time to start the process of uploading my films for your enjoyment.

Since the site of Washwood Heath yard has now dissapeared unde the works of HS2 i thought it would be good to revisit what was one of my favourite places to film in the early 1990's. In this video we see plenty of freight with class 31, 37, 47, 56 and 58 and a rare sight of brand new class 156 bogies being delivered by rail to the Met.Cam.Works next door.

Trackside UK No.377 - Scotlands Railways June 2024 Part One
Oh Colin what a great place this was in these days, I think it was still good when the sheds took over as I remember one Friday night I was there it was like a traffic jam with trains waiting to get pass the station. Thanks so much for this upload.
That was fantastic Colin! As you said none stop action there at Barnetby, it's always been a mecca especially in those days for good regular freight action. Great seeing those mighty type fives and a couple of 37's purring away for good measure. Wish it was as busy these days! Really enjoyed this, hope you are keeping well, cheers Nick.
Great video, like 5
Indeed, Loadhaul and 56 heaven aswell.
Thuuuuuuuuuumbs UP !!! 👍🎥👍
Thank you for watching 👍
Thuuuuuuuuuumbs UP !!! 👍🎥👍
Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed my video 👍, Colin.
I like where you started this video Colin, but you did seam to have visited a lot of places in this video, some of them I have visited myself with you. Its going to get very cold up your way this week so what how you go, cheers Mike.
Thank Mike it's already hovering around zero up here so i will heed your advice mate. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hope you have a good week. Take care, Colin.
Thumbs up
👍Thank you
Good video Colin :)
Cheers Simon, i'm glad you enjoyed the video, Colin.
Definitely a DRS theme going on Colin! Wow some tasty freights there and didn't let me down on some nice Redshed action, noticed the highland stag has sadly fled on one side, probably in the Glen's somewhere! Nice to see dual company traction on the RHTT working. Plenty of good HST shots around, always great to see them. Great locations freights and great shots enjoyed cheers Nick.
Many thanks for the kind comments Nick and i'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've been trying out a few new locations this month and the shot of redshed 150 at Hartswood nearly didn't happen as i only got half way down the ramp before it stormed through on 4S99. Must put my running shoes on in future lol. As always really appreciate your watch time Nick and i hope you've had a good weekend. Best regards, Colin.
@@colingarwood9971You too!
Great video Colin. Good to see an update on the Scottish scene. A few new spots for you as well it seems. Nice to see the Scottish RHTTs in action. All the best. Ben
Thanks for the kind comments Ben and as always appreciate you watching mate. Enjoy your weekend, regards, Colin.
Thanks Colin
Cheers Dave, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Well done great posting
Thank you James, that's much appreciated. Have a great week, Colin.
Nice video Colin from the archive :)
Thanks for watching Simon 👍
Stop spoiling us Colin. Absolutely superb footage from a location which is barely recognisable from how it is now compared to this video.
Lols thanks Ben. Sometimes i enjoy showing my archive stuff over the new as it gets a bigger responce but don't worry, the next one will be an up to date Scottish video. As always mate i appreciate the kind comments, take care, Colin.
The times I stood on that very platform as a lookout 😊 but it’s changed so much now.
Thank you for watching, glad it brought back some good memories.
Very good 👍🤝❤
Thank you.
Wonderful! I was a regular spotter at WH in the 70s and 80s. There was an industrial estate right along side the line that I used to park up at, I could watch from the car. 20s, 37s, 31s, 47s, 45s, 25s all regular visitors. Saltley TMD was right next to another industrial estate so was visited either on the way to WH or leaving. Happy Days!
Thank you very much for watching and i'm glad you enjoyed the video. I only wish i'd seen all those 25s and 45s on Saltley and got to film them but alas i never started to visit the area untill the late 80's with my work. Still , i'm glad i managed to film what i did see then. Best regards, Colin.
Great bit of railway video..1-37 2-37 91 and HST at rear...Also nice handling of all our fragile parcels at 7.01 . Nice to see they were dealt with care think its still the same. 😂
Thank you for watching and commenting 👍
Great vid but can I ask where the electrified line on the above bridge go to? Not familiar with the area I’m afraid
Probably the Stechford - Aston branch connection.
Hi Dave firstly can i say thank you for watching and i'm glad you enjoyed it. Secondly as Downgrand1967 has stated, it was indeed the Stechford--Aston line, which was as far as i'm aware a freight only line. While i was filming below the bridge 90031 actually passed over the top with a freight. Cheers, Colin.
@@colingarwood9971 Cheers for that, have you got more vids in the pipeline?
At least 100 so keep tuned in 😊
I was working trains to there around this time, from Toton.
Great footage 👍
Thank you Steve, i'm glad you enjoyed the video 👍
Sorry dont know how to express umlauts on my phone!
No problem Nick 😀
That was wonderful Colin! A good helping of Tractor action and great to see an early Romanian build 56003, i was taking notes of the cab and front ends for a future project, although probably wont ever get around to it! Vielen Dank fur das Tielen des hervorragenden Filmmaterials danke Nick.
Cheers Nick and thanks for the kind comments. I'm glad the footage of 56003 has been of some use for your future project mate and i see you've been brushing up on your German lately ha ha 👍Have a great week Nick, all the best, Colin.
Washwood, what a great, but grimy, location, and some nice freight moves! 🚂👍
Thanks for watching Dave, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Thanks 4 shareing
My pleasure Nick and thanks for watching 👍
Great days Colin, wish I had a camcorder then but I working working six days a week.
Thanks Mike, i was lucky to be able to film then because of my work, Colin.
Another classic Colin. Always great to see these archive videos from locations I am frequently working at. Reminds me of what once was.
Glad you enjoyed it Ben. Thanks for watching and have a great and safe week. All the best, Colin.

How the traction has changed Colin, thinking about it the only one we don't see on the main line is the DMU and the class 31 these days.
Your right ofcoarse Mike, it's a pity there are no 31's still running on the main line, and i used to love the sound of those first generation dmu's as they pulled away from the platforms mate. Thanks for watching Mike, take care, Colin.
Great video Colin :)
Thank you Simon 👍
Glorious! Nice to see 47296 at the start. I modelled that one back in 1997, which i still have. Great upload sir.
Thank you for the kind comments and i'm pleased you enjoyed the video, Best regards, Colin.
56/47's definitely ruled the roost there Colin, and a nice 31 for good measure! I really miss the sector liveries, memories memories, always there in the mind !As always enjoyed, more soon please, enjoyed cheers Nick
Thanks for watching and commenting Nick, i'm pleased you enjoyed the video. Having just got back from Penzance i've a lot of catching up to do so if i've missed one of yours don't worry, i'll soon find it. Take care mate, Colin.
First train of vid is 47 on speedlink, heaven lol
Glad you enjoyed this one James, and i'm guessing you're a class 47 fan. Thanks for watching, Colin.
Wow, absolutely mesmerizing video! What an incredible variety of equipment. That looks like a wonderful location for trainspotting! Thank you for sharing this. New subscriber!
Thank you for the kind words and sub, i'm glad you liked the video. Take care and stay safe, Colin.
Great footage from the Vale! Is this the former site of the station? Either way, I'm guessing if it hasn't been built on, that spot is fenced off nowadays.
Hi and thank you for watching. I used to visit this spot quite regularly when my work took me to the Midlands but i'm afraid i have no idea whether there used to be a station there abouts. Sadly you are right, the dreaded palaside fence is in place now. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and there's plenty more in the locker. Best regards, Colin.
Amazing video, like 14
First some reason I’m not getting notifications of your video Colin. These days looking back to what we now have were fantastic with the amount of different class of locos, great stuff Colin.
Thanks for the kind comments Mike, i'm glad you enjoyed the video. Hope you've got the notifications problem sorted, best regards, Colin.
Nice video, like 40
Thank you for watching 👍
Good video Colin :)
Thank you Simon 👍
Amazing video Colin. Its amazing the lack of footage from Tamworth around this time so thanks as always for sharing. ATB. Ben
Thanks Ben i'm glad you enjoyed the video.Yes you're right, there doesn't appear to be that manyvideos of Tamworth in the early 90s around. Thanks for watching mate, take care, Colin.
Yet more amazing footage Colin from the mid nineties. Those were definitely the days, really good freight workings and plenty of great Grid Tug and Duff action with an amazing tractor and triple duff crossover, that was great! AS always really enjoyed, cheers Nick.
Thanks Nick, glad you enjoyed it mate 👍They certainly were the good old days. Thanks for watching Nick, i'm off to Penzance tomorrow, by train from Edinburgh taking almost 11 hours ( love it lol ).Take care and best regards, Colin.
@@colingarwood9971oh blimy great Colin, can i come? Have a great time, enjoy!

Wonderful video, thumbs up

Cheers Mike, i met up with a freind from Essex that day in Edinburgh who was chasing his last units so never got to see that much freight. But i was pleased to caatch the rhtt myself as well as the others. Hope you've had a great weekend so far mate, Colin.
Colin, I'm running out of superlatives to describe your archive videos 👌🏻
Very kind of you to say so Ben and i'm glad you are enjoying them.as much as i enjoyed filming them .Hope you've had a great weekend so far, Colin.
Don’t know Colin how this one slipped through the net, but when I got to Slateford I had my fingers crossed you was going to get the RHTT train which I went there for last year Great you didn’t let me down Colin, so thanks very much just a shame it wasn’t squirting.
