    Found out the hard way that the pin on this is slightly too big for my bike chain. Says it works on bicycle chains but it’s pretty misleading. I spent like an hour trying to get my chain off of the thing

      Aren't there are 2 sizes of center pins in the kit? I never use the smaller one since I just do larger equipment and dirt bike stuff. Thanks for your input.

      @@notoriousJPG I measured both of them using a caliper and they were the same. I’m not sure if they made a mistake and put the same size pins in mine though.

    You my friend, oh you little devil, you, you are a genius! So many people talk about bending pins and tools trying to break a chain. If you can brake a chain without bending the pin or tool using a cheap Harbor Freight tool, that to me is proof that others using a 100-180 dollars high quality chain breakers had no idea what they were doing.
    I need to change the chain on my motorcycle and the chains are ridiculously expensive. Over 200-230 bucks for my bike, depending on who makes it. Then the cost of sprockets. Plus I was going to spend another 150 bucks on a chain tool. A total of somewhere around 400-450 bucks once you add the taxes. If I can buy a cheap Harbor Freight tool for around 20 bucks (I think you said 10 bucks), you just saved me 120 bucks or more.

    Very nice, I would only add to give the tool a little spritz of oil ..

      @@michaelslifecyclevice, patience, and a master link to put it back together. That’s what I did.

      This tool is a remover/installer. Just don't drive the pin all the way out of the side link. Use a wrench instead of an impact to prevent damage to the chain or tool.

    I bent the push pin just a little bit but, damnit, that link is taken apart! Thanks so much for this video. I would have been struggling for another hour before giving up without it. Now it's time to change these sprockets and put on the new chain. Hopefully I'll find a good tutorial for putting the new chain back together with this tool lol

      Yes, you can bend the push pin if it's sticking out very far. You won't need this tool to put the chain back together just a pair of needle nose pliers sometimes helps putting the clip back on.

      @@notoriousJPG There's no clip. I have to rivet the pin into the link. I didn't see a way to do it with the harbor freight tool and ended up ordering the takasago chain tool. It's $90 and much more sturdy. It works as a chain breaker and can also rivet. It also has a tool for the clip you're talking about! Highly recommend.

    So it cannot be used to rivet the master link?

    • @notoriousJPG
      @notoriousJPG  5 дней назад

      Nope, it's just for separating. To join the chain ends you'll need a master link with clip.

    Brother you sent that entirely too hard and bent the tool 😢
