In Full House's defense, they didn't realize that the final season was going to be that till after filming. The real final episode they shot was the one they show before the series finale. I don't think it was a terrible way to end the series but I wish they could have had it go on a couple of more years (especially since DJ was about to start college and Michelle was getting older and could have had more serious story lines like stephanie did when she was in junior high).

    • @ElvisRose_
      @ElvisRose_ 2 года назад

Fans, like myself, that watched every single episode over nine years feel like we fell for a long con. Those idiots decided how the show would end two years into the run when they felt that the show could be on for several years and filmed it before the actors playing his kids could age.
From the practical sense, there was reason because the flash forward is supposed be the same day but no writer worth their salt would ever lock themselves into an ending that prohibits character growth and series evolution.
Barney & Robin are many fans favorite part, they certainly have more fans than Robin & Ted but that very popularity can't be planned since no one can predict how audiences will react and a predetermined ending eliminates all chances to seize unforeseen opportunities.
It's been years since the show ended but I'm still bitter and I always will be bitter about the ending.

THIS!! Jackie And Hyde were my favourite couple of the series. And I agree, it only needs to be suggested that they are together (as they should be) and maybe they have a kid of their own.
And yeah, given the circumstances, I don't ever want to see Masterson in any new show either. Hyde is a fictional character, a good one at that, and he doesn't deserve to be associated with an awful person. Best to just have him referenced, I don't think recasting him would do much good even so tbh. Mila, however, deserves to appear in one episode at least imo. I'd love to see Jackie all grown up, as a professional news reporter maybe, but still having a bit of that classic Jackie spunk and attitude. :)

I think the Seinfeld ending is perfect , they finally face consequences for their indifference to other humans lol and in jail , at the end of the episode , Jerry and George have the same exact conversation they had in the first scene of the first episode. That shows that they haven’t grown as people in any way which perfectly fits as it’s a show about nothing so in the end they’ve learned nothing and haven’t grown at all lol. It’s the exact opposite of what is supposed to happen in movies, shows, books etc., where characters are supposed to develop. It’s a pretty brilliant concept to end the series imo.

And tbh, ending up single is far from a bad ending for a character. Joey has always been the womanizer. Him not settling down nor chasing as many women as he was in the earlier seasons show growth, or at the very least potential of growth. I'm happy they kept him purely a friend figure and didn't try to pair him up with one of the mains or some episodic character. Here's my two cents about HIMYM: The problem wasn't the ending itself (although it still partially is). The problem is that the creators made random and (some unnecessary) storylines to make the series longer and modified some ideas for everything EXCEPT the ending (most probably because they already filmed Ted's kids' reaction scenes back in season 1 because the intention was Ted told the 8-year long story in one sitting.). Though I feel like the finale could've worked if the series lasted for just about 4 or 5 seasons.

I mean no show is flawless. Friends still has some flaws.
The finale was great, but the more I rewatch the show the more I think Rachel should've taken the job in Paris. I'm not too big on the Ross/Rachel dynamic, so her not ending up with him would've been way more satisfying to me lmao. But considering they are the main couple, and at the time shows like that almost always had the main couple be "endgame", I suppose I would've been fine with Ross going after her and leave it more open-ended. But, again, that might've pissed off some fans of the pairing.
But seriously, I was really dissapointed that they really made her stay. And for a toxic man at that. It still would've been a bitter-sweet goodbye if she didn't. Maybe even more impactful than the actual one was.
I'd encourage you to search for other comedy shows too if you like the genre though, there's some great stuff out there other than Friends. I used to be a sort of a super-fan of that show too, until I dived in some other stuff and I realised Friends isn't the only good sitcom ever.
You saying that it's the only sitcom with a really great ending is merely an assumption. :)

If you were paying attention, the ending would not have been a surprise at all. It's How I MET Your Mother. Which means the story ends when they MEET.
He was telling them the story because she was dead. And considering all the kids scenes were filmed within the first few months of the show, it was their intention from the beginning.

The original Will and Grace finale was great and emotional. The 2020 reboot finale was disappointing because I wanted to see the babies be born! "Family Matters" for the first few seasons was a comedy about the Winslow family, and their ups and downs. Urkel wasn't even in the first few seasons, and then he appeared as the annoying neighbour.
But then Urkel became the main character, the youngest daughter didn't even exist anymore, and the family had taken a back seat to now be a show about Steve Urkel's latest mishap.
It then jumped the shark by going from realistic stories to Urkel and Carl getting shrunk, a time machine and a cloning machine which created the suave, cool version of Urkel called Stefan.
They should have kept the show as it was, and give Urkel his own spin-,off show, and do what they like with that.

Honestly, here's the problem with TV finales today, whether a sit-com, drama, soap opera, thriller, crime, or sci-fi. When you're going to end you're show, especially when every season gets better than the first or last one after it, you need to remember: A finale needs to be everything a finale should be. Raise the stakes, take your characters into new places they hadn't been before (I mean that both figuratively and literally, depending on the show one makes), make character arcs come full circle, maybe some emotional payoffs, and even give the audience something that may have been not revealed until the end. You can even use the finale to resolve any issues people may have with the previous seasons of your show. But all in all, THE MAIN THING your finale needs to give in the end, is CLOSURE; both for the show, characters and story all together. You see, when you watch a series, you all have to agree that one of the things you would want in the end of a show is to give closure. Because if a finale ends with too much open and unresolved, then what's the point (Even though there are some cases where that's the nature for some shows and their endings)?
It's like being serve a meal at a restaurant. Good meals will be the ones that leave you full that you don't need more. But if someone serves you a tiny amount of the meal, and you get asked if you enjoyed it, deep down, you will say, "Yeah, but I kind of wished for a little more.", except their response will be "But that's the beauty of it. The fact that you want more is what makes it great.". But does it really? Because I don't think so. It's the same with a finale.

How I Met Your Mother should've been number one. Roseanne's ending only ruined one season but How I Met Your Mother accomplished an incredible feat that successfully rendered the entire series completely pointless. Not even the controversial ending of Lost undid everything that ever fucking happened in the show so it's not a bad sitcom ending, it's one of the worst for all of television. The only reason why they put forth an alternate ending was to salvage something for the release of the series boxset because fans didn't simply hate the ending, the fans swore off the show entirely, vowing to never watch it again which seriously depleted its worth for profit off reruns and streaming. Fans don't forget fuck ups like that and we certainly won't forgive it.

And yeah, like you said, HIMYM is a totally different story that you can't really defend too much. They really introduced the character that was basically the game changer for Ted (and introduced her ridiculously late, might I add), only to get rid of her in the next 5 minutes or so and make Ted go back to someone who was proven to be incompatible with him multiple times throughout the show.
