    You're video just explained what I needed to know. Well done! Another display feature I didn't think we could see is the gear the automatic transmission is in as we travel and it shifts. I found out we display it from the steering wheel controls and it will show up on the bottom RIGHT side of the PRND1. THANKS AGAIN!

    So funny, i thought theres no way dodge didnt give us a light to show when mds is engaged....yet everything i read on the forums said nope theres no way to know....and then i come across your video and YEP there it is. I have a 2023 classic, display and options are a bit different but there it was. Works great. One thing i noticed, mine has the 3.92 gear option and it will hold eco up hills and i can actually accelerate quite easily without it disengaging. I can only guess this is because of the higher rear end ratio making the engine work less hard. Im averaging 22mpg so who says the 3.92 geared trucks suffer mileage wise. Its your standard well equipped 4x4 crew cab on stock 20's. Thanks for the insight!

      @@romper4444 I love that they are still offering the classic style lol. Yours seems to have a bit more pep than normal of it’s actually staying in eco on hills which is nice. Only time I ever saw over 20 mpg was if I did 70 mph or slower in a straight line lol

      It’s just an indicator light to let you k ow when the truck is in 4 cyl or not. You don’t even have to turn it on if you want, it’s just an option. The truck will still switch between 8 and 4 cyl even if you don’t turn this on.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  5 лет назад +1

      I may have just reset that at the gas station right before the video or been doing lots of flooring it with the new exhaust haha, In the winter time, I average 9-11 mpg with my 9 mile commute each way to work because the truck warms up 10-15 min each time and the fluids are barely all up to temp by the time I get home or to work. PLus out of those 9 miles each way, I have 5 stop lights. The same trip in the summer time with less idling gets me 12-14 mpg. I also have the 3.92 gears which aren't as eco friendly and I'm not afraid to punch it haha.

  • @cc-fn3mc
    @cc-fn3mc 2 года назад +2

    I think what most of the people tell you to do is put the truck in 8th gear and then it disables the 4 cylinder eco mode which in most forms tell you it's bad for the truck. And that's whether it be GM or Dodge that have these cylinder shut offs .

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  2 года назад

      I have another video on that as well haha! Turning on tow/haul also works, but you get worse mpg because of all the extra revving the engine does in tow/haul.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  3 года назад +2

      With the ignition on or truck running, and the transmission in park, use the left pad on your steering wheel to find the “screen setup” tab. Click the ok button on the wheel and use arrows to scroll down to “current gear” and hit ok. Then use arrow to go up from the “off” to the “on” position and hit ok again. You should get a message on the cluster saying the setting was saved. Use left arrow to go back to normal menus. It should now display what gear you’re in any time you put the truck into drive.

    I have a 2019 Big Horn (crew) and I am having problems with the radio. Not the typical black screen and rebooting issues that seem to be talked about. When I start the vehicle, my FM radio struggles to find most channels (all but one or two) and/or the volume is incredibly variable on a preset channels. Satellite works fine and as far as I can tell all other digital functions are good (just FM radio). The catch is, it only happens sometimes. One start it is fine, Get to work or the corner store and restart the vehicle and it is not functioning properly. Any help would be appreciated. I've been trying to find the "soft reset" sequence and or considering a "hard reboot" of the system but not sure how to do either. Also, I have asked the dealership to look into it and I get the classic, "our tech can't seem to get the issue to repeat itself."
    Thanks in advance.

Maybe disconnect the batteries for an house and reconnect them?

    9.3 average MPG's??? That's REALLY bad! I'm getting around 19-20 avg in my 2022 Ram Laramie 4x4. Honestly, I wish that the ECO mode would engage earlier earlier at highway speeds in the 4x4. I owned a 2020 1500 5.7 non-ETorque 4x2 Lonestar and was averaging 21-22 MPG's. Do a lot of semi-flat highway driving. The ECO mode would engage much earlier in that particular motor.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  8 месяцев назад +1

      The 9.3 was either in the dead of winter or just after I had filled up and reset. I averaged 13-15 during the summer if all I did was drive to and from work. 4x4 will always lose an MPG or 2 with the added weight and rotating mass.

    • @oychoppa
      @oychoppa 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@TonyTheTruckGuy Thank you for your comment. I was completely expecting the 4x4 to not be as efficient as the 4x2. However, the major difference as to why, may not be due to the rotating mass or weight. I truly believe that if my ECO mode would engage the same as my 4x2, I would definitely see better numbers. At highway speeds of 65-75 mph, I could see up to 32 mpg's in my 4x2. Now, I'm lucky if I see 20-21 in my 4x4 at 65mhp due to the ECO mode not engaging at that speed. I've got a call in to the dealership to see if the truck may need to be reprogrammed. It only has 9,300 miles at the moment.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@oychoppa The 4x4 also sits higher, so the wind drag is more and the engine just can't keep up with all those additional factors. Not sure if your gear ratios are the same or not, but the other factors alone are enough to cause eco not to engage as often.

    • @oychoppa
      @oychoppa 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@TonyTheTruckGuy Actually, if my 4x4 sits any higher than the other 4x2 then it's not by much. Both just barely fit under my open garage door. I'm thinking my gearing was 3.21 on the 4x2 and 3.92 on the 4x4. That may be part of it. If that's the case, there should be some way to reprogram the ECU to allow the MDS to engage in different gears, at different RPM's. Especially at highway speeds.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@oychoppa Yeah I'm not sure without looking it up or physically measuring, but the 4x4 is usually an inch or so taller. But yeah, gear ratio would be a big factor. This truck had 3.92 as well and I'm surprised it didn't try to stay in 4 cylinder more.
