The viper was an attempt at the vette. The corvette is more of an American classic then a viper will ever be. I mean the only difference the viper has is the super long front end.

With everyone switching to this paddle shift performance auto garbage, they wanted to let it die a true raw power car without all of the "if your a terrible driver push this button and you'll be ok" goodies rather than change the nature of it.
