TRANSCRIPT:
Ringo Starr, the eldest Beatle, turns 80 years-old in 2020. Because I’m sure you’re watching, Ringo, Happy Birthday from me to you.
And this year, even with all the weirdness in the world, Ringo is celebrating his birthday by broadcasting an all-star event, “Ringo’s Big Birthday Show.” It’ll include guest Paul McCartney - you may have heard of him - and a few other famous friends.
This news reminded me of the time I went to one of Ringo’s birthday parties.
I’ve seen Ringo live twice, both times in Nashville, Tennessee - once at the Wildhorse Saloon in 2008 and again in 2012 at the mother church of country music, the Ryman Auditorium. But this second show actually fell on his birthday: July 7. And if you don’t know, Ringo since 2008 has encouraged fans to join him on his birthday at noon to stop wherever they are (“wherever you are”) and conjure up wishes of peace and love (“peace and love”).
Last year, 2019, Ringo held a public event at the Capitol Records building in LA, where it’s been a few times before. But back in 2012, he had a pre-show party at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Nashville. I lived close at the time, and there was no way I was going to miss this. It was a free event, and - besides my own excitement - I realized this would probably be the only time I could get my entire family to hang out with a Beatle.
After my wife and I packed up the kids in the minivan, we trekked downtown and found ourselves under the blazing southern sun in an asphalt parking lot. It was crazy hot, we were all sweating, and there wasn’t much room to move. And did I mentioned we weren’t the only ones there? But the vibe in the crowd was fantastic and a bit fanatic - plenty of Beatles t-shirts and homemade signs. Looking at these pictures now reminds me of just how much Coronavirus has changed things. But that wasn’t the case this day.
After waiting in the crowd a little while, we realized there was more to the event than a generic “peace and love” appearance by Ringo. Emerson Hart took the stage with his band Tonic and played a great little set. You might know them by their 90s hits like “If You Could Only See” and “You Wanted More.”
After Tonic wrapped, there was a break… until Ringo Starr came out! He made his way to the stage from the cafe and was joined by wife Barbara, brother-in-law Joe Walsh, and a host of other all-starts and apparent insiders. After Ringo took the stage he said hi, welcomed the crowd, and then we counted down till noon. The peace-ing and loving happened, followed by a singalong of Happy Birthday and Give Peace a Chance.
It was simple and fun, but unforgettable, especially as I held my Beatle-loving kids and shared a little bit of living history with them.
A few hours later, my oldest and I made our way back downtown, this time to the Ryman for the full-blown Ringo and his All Starr Band concert. We had great seats - even though we were in the balcony - and, while my kid didn’t know much of the non-Beatle songs like Steve Lukather’s Rosanna, you probably can guess what she did love... ("Yellow Submarine"!)
This show, minus my daughter singing Yellow Submarine, actually made it out as a concert film: Ringo At The Ryman. There’s a link in the description below if you want to check it out.
After the concert, like fools, she and I waited in the rain in the famed alley outside the venue just to say bye to Ringo, or - who knows - maybe grab an autograph. I had my copy of Introducing The Beatles with me just in case. Unfortunately, he was whisked from the building to a waiting SUV within seconds, but no regrets here. If you look close, you can see a little water damage on my record sleeve. While this obviously hurts any collectible value, it makes it all the more special for me. It reminds me of an amazing day for this Beatles fan, especially as I tried my hardest to indoctrinate my kids with love and appreciation for Beatles music.

Love the personal touch. Where did you get the Blackbird T-Shirt? I sang all 3 of my sons to sleep with that song. Thanks!
Thanks John. I made it! It's on my channel's store at teespring.com/stores/fabfourarchivist
I, too, sang it to my kids at bedtime. Naturally, it's one of their faves now.
I saw John once in a weird way. After graduating high school in 1972 my best friend and I decided to drive from Oregon to LA. We were well south of SF, somewhere around Santa Barbara on highway 101. We overtook a chauffeured limo on the freeway, I want to say it was a Rolls, but half a century later... the car was conspicuous. As we overtook the car my travel partner said, "hey, that's John Lennon in the back!" I glanced and it sure looked like it. I tapped the horn and we flung a peace sign and yelled, "Hi John!" He looked over, gave us a peace sign and a wave. The moment is so clear in my mind.
Wow that’s super cool
Cool, but why is that a weird way?
That's way cool!!!!
Lucky bastard!
@the real2 how is this relevant to the comment above?
Back in December 1974, I went to George Harrison's Dark Horse concert in the Capital Centre, Landover, Maryland. At one point, during the concert, everything got real quiet as the band took a short break to quench their thirst. My seat was close to the stage and the guy sitting behind me suddenly screams out: "HARRISON!!!!" which had me jump out of my skin! George looked up and straight at me!!! I started signing and saying: "It wasn't me! I'm behaving! The dude behind me did it!" George cracked up laughing!
What was the result of the concert. Was there a completion and final achievement?
I've never seen Ringo live, but in May 1993 I was about 20 feet from Paul and Linda as they left their downtown Winnipeg hotel on their way to the stadium for that night's concert. We saw that night''s concert (from the 4th row) then hopped in the car and drove to Minneapolis to see them again 2 nights later (much further back). Both were great concerts, but Winnipeg included an encore of Mull of Kintyre with a local pipe and drum corps joining them on stage. Great memories. Those were the first 2 times (of the 5 total times) that I saw Paul perform live, and sadly the last times I saw Linda.
Thanks for your channel Lance, love your content.
When where the other times?
@@charleswinkler5998 - "Back in the US" tour (2nd leg of the Driving USA tour in support of Driving Rain album) in Minneapolis, September 2002; "Out There" tour in Winnipeg, August 2013 (2 months before NEW was released), and "Freshen Up" tour in Winnipeg, September 2018 (3 weeks after Egypt Station was released).
Lots of great stories from '93 here in the comments! I'm guessing some of it has to do with how much territory that tour covered, but it also seems like Paul (and Linda) were just among the people in a way we wouldn't see much of with future tours.
In the 60s I was going to see the Beatles in concert but something came up and I couldn't go but I still have the ticket
Something in the way...
I have "met" Paul McCartney twice. 1st time was in 1st November, 1975 (could have been after midnight into the 2nd - splitting hairs). We drove 600km from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia for the concert. We stayed at what was the only 5 star hotel in town, The Sheraton Hotel. I knew that Macca would have to be staying there also so I took my copy of Venus and Mars. The concert was great. Luckily, they didn't get straight into the car before the crowds left so I had time to get back to the hotel get the record and hang out at the hotel lobby. They all came in at once and I had to sort of position myself so none escaped. I got Paul, Linda, Jimmy McCulloch, Joe English and Denny Laine.
The 2nd time was around the 5th March 93. He was doing an interview on a local radio station days before the concert (on the 5th). I was one of about 30 people that had turned up, which I was happy about and as he walked down the path he grabbed several CDs and the last before he went inside was mine. Both treasured items. Still have all my concert tickets, too.
Very cool story, Derek. I love hearing about how accessible rock stars often were in the 60s and 70s. It just doesn't happen now. I understand (especially after John's murder, etc.), but it had to have been fun for fans to try to meet those guys when they actually had a chance!
I have only seen Paul in concert for his freshen up tour in 2019. I was so blessed to be just 4 rows back and before the show when his plane had just landed I ran on to the tarmac with my 1976 Hofner bass but was stopped. Best. Concert. Ever.
I love this story. You're crazy (hopefully in a good way! haha). I like to think Paul and the band were watching you from the plane, dying laughing!
Knowing that this was in Nashville made your accent pop out a little bit
Lol. I noticed it, too...but I enjoyed it. I'm southern, too.
Haha... can't hide it!
Liverpool can be a lonely place on a Saturday night, and this is only Thursday morning
Ringo is such a boss! You can't help but love the man. Happy birthday mister Starr!
Many have a story or stories about attempted brushes with frame in the backstage or waiting by the door out the back or going to an album signing (how I got my picture with Santana!!) or what have you. So thanks for sharing, even on an unsuccessful attempt. Many, many of us relate to that story, so well.
And think of those insanely fortunate people in Liverpool, in stunned amazement when James Corden drove Paul around - now THOSE people can relate!
In December 2018 I was very fortunate enough to see Paul McCartney live in London’s O2 arena with my dad. Words couldn’t express of how wonderful that night was and the emotional impact it had on me. When I thought it couldn’t get any better Ringo Starr came on stage near the end along with Ronnie Wood! They played Get Back. Nothing else in my life could ever top that magical night ! It’s a night I’ll take with me for the rest of my life. I’m still pinching myself even now! I think it’s wonderful that you’re introducing your children to the Beatles world. There’s quite simply nothing like them nor will there ever be again.... Thank you for your great videos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks LT! That O2 show would have blown my mind!!! I've seen the video, but it can't compare to having been there in person.
My grandpa saw The Beatles live on September 7th 1964
I saw Paul live on november 30th 2018 in copenhagen. I've been a fan since I heard 'Young Boy' for the first time in the opening sequence of 'Fathers Day' with Robin Williams, I think I was around 8. So we actually went to the show in copenhagen even tho we are from Germany which was a cool trip tbh and we had some great seats (golden circle) I remember when he came on stage I was just standing there with my mouth wide opened until he sang 'All My Loving' just thinking ,,Wow I'm in the same room as THE Paul McCartney'' . I think it's thanks to this concert that my most fav album of all time is 'Give my regards to Broad Street' because after the day of the show we went to a record store in copenhagen and they just happened to have this record so it always reminds me of the best day or weekend even, of my entire life! Also I had VIP tickets for Hannover this year and also Golden Circle tickets for Holland but we all know what happened to the tour...I even had to find a job to affird those tickets.
Thanks for sharing, Kilian. I forgot Young Boy was in that movie! So sorry you didn't get to go this year.
One of our family friends is a fairly accomplished classical guitarist. He studied under another accomplished classical guitarist named Carlos Bonnell, who personally worked with Sir Paul McCartney on a guitar concerto!
One more year and we will see the complete roof top concert all 42 minutes on the big screen.
When Ringo mentioned he saw that and was blown away it sure gets me excited for the film.
Yeee 4th of September lets go
O ' Fresco nope it’s been moved back to July 2021 only a year to go 😫😖😣
A year and a little bit more... :( New release date is 27 August 2021.
Ringos birthday!!!
Oh man, it was definitely my cup of tea. It was a touching moment the one you've shared with us. Thank you so much.
And following your suggestion. It was in one of Paul's landings on Mexico City that I joined my niece (more than a decade younger than I), to see his show. I didn't realize the moment we were sharing together until 'The Night Before' was heard and we both couldn't hold a tear.
Beatles are pieces of life here and there, brought together into something bigger, by magic.
Thanks Alejandro! Fantastic story! Yes, Beatles music seems to transcend borders, musical taste, age, and time. :)
Your doughter singing yellow submarine is the cutest thing ever
Aww, thanks. She's a doll. A little older now, but still a big Ringo fan!
@@FabFourArchivist Love your vids man. Keep upp the good work!
I've been lucky to see every all-star tour. I wore a Ringo tank top from his first tour to a show at the winery in Woodinville..(this was my fifth time seeing him) and Ringo noticed it...he walked over to me and said "that's a nice shirt you got on tonight"... unbelievable to have a Beatle talk to you..it was surreal... gotta love Ringo!!!!
Very cool story! 5 times, eh? I've just seen him the two times. Not sure I'd go again unless it worked out easily. Would you go again?
@@FabFourArchivist in a heartbeat!!! I've even gone to Canada once to see him. The best shows were the first three...cuz the last few he's had the SAME players . Don't get me wrong..they are ALL great players..but it's like they are kinda putting on the same show over and over...vs. the early shows where it had surprises like John Entwistle..Billy Preston...on and on. Always a fun show!!
Billy Preston... woooooow. That would've been insane.
@@FabFourArchivist it was goosebumps!
Ringo is the epitome of cool.
I want to sing Give Peace a Chance with a Beatle 😭😭 I would probably be crying haha
My birthday is a day after Ringo Starr’s?!?! Hell yeah bro
Right on. Happy bday!
A degree of separation... My sister-in-law was quite the babe back in the day. She was going out with some guy who ended up getting into them the basement of Capitol records in LA. It happens that George was there too and couldn't take his eyes off her. Not a coincidence George ended up with a Latina like her. Oh, and I saw The Beatles in concert in San Diego, Balboa Stadium.
Haha... Yeah, between Patti and Olivia, George obviously had an eye for beauty. Fun story!
I Was on Pauls concert in Poland back in 2018, I remember how people were standing under his hotel balcony and just screaming and clapping when he walked out to wave to us. I was so happy that day! And I really hope that Ringo could come to Poland too!
One year ago tomorrow I saw Paul Mccartney at the BC Place in Vancouver, hands down best show ever and one month after that, I managed to get tickets to see Ringo at the Ravinia Festival in Illinois, this was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity for this super beatles fan!
Two Beatles in a month?! What a great time!
@@FabFourArchivist it definitely was! now that i think about it, its crazy i got to see them both! i hope to see them again
I got to see Sir Paul in 2010 in Charlotte NC as a birthday treat! It was a special & rememberable show! 👍👍👍
Great birthday gift! :)
Never seen Ringo live. Seen Paul 4x. The most recent time was in Seattle 2013. He brought the surviving members of Nirvana on stage for a big jam. They did Cut Me Some Slack, Helter Skelter, and Get Back. It was epic. I caught some of it on video. Amazing time. Every time I went to a McCartney concert was a peak life experience.
Ah, I remember hearing about that show! Unique!
Great story.Always good to hear of the younger generation being brought up with Beatle music in their lives.
Yes! Gotta pass the torch.
Ringo looks so good for his age.is amazing.i cant help smiling everytime I see him.is a blessing he still around.
Couldn't agree more. He's taking great care of himself.
GREAT STORY BUD!!!!!! I saw Ringo in Canada´s Wonderland buck in the 90s, Paul 3 times, once in Canada and the other 2 here in Uruguay. Unfortunately never got to see George and when John was killed I was only 5. I listen to The Beatles with my daughter now (she´s 9) and although she doesn´t understand a word haha she´s becoming a Beatles fan too!!! Love your channel!! God bless
Thanks Marco! Glad you've gotten to see both of them!
First big beatles thing for a new fan and, i was really impressed so many people came just to say happy birthday to him it was really cool !
I met Pete Best (as well as Denny Lane and members of Badfinger) at a Beatles Fest in San Diego in 1997. I had a 45 of “Ain’t She Sweet” that I wanted him to sign. He was mostly business as normal, but when I handed him the record, he teared up. Otherwise, I missed out on Ringos 90s All-star shows because he only played at 21+ clubs when he came to town, and I was still a teenager. But since then I’ve seen him twice at the Greek Theatre in Hollywood. I still have yet to see Paul live. Peace and Love!
Hey lance, I once interviewed a country artist at the hard Rock Cafe in orlando. I arrived first. Since the restaurant was mobbed with diners, the management took me upstairs by an that opened to the John Lennon suite: several rooms decorated with furniture, original art, and personal belongings from his apartment at the Dakota. Including one of his all white baby grand pianos.
Well, never met any of them but I did travel from DC to NYC at age 15 w a friend to see the Concert for Bangladesh- so yeah I saw George, Ringo Eric, Dylan, Badfinger, Leon, Keltner, Jesse Ed, Kraus and the late Billy Preston. I guess that’s most of the “family”. Shocks me that my Dad allowed it, even today.
The first two All Starr Bands were Amazing and even The Fourth one! First had Billy Preston Levolm Helm and Rick Danko from The band and even Clarence Clemonds etc.. Second one had Burtin Comings Timothy B Smith, Joe Walsh, Dave Edmonds. Etc. The fourth was with Procal Harem, Peter Frampton, Jack Bruce. Etc.
Those early lineups were fire. I like the All Starr concept, but would love to hear them jam out a little more. They certainly have the musical talent.
As of September 2019 , I got to see Ringo and his all star band with my uncle at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles California. And I have to say Ringo and all those guys put on a great show. and It was so cool physically being in the presence of a Beatle even if the stage was far away from our seats.
I hope to go many more concerts hopefully soon.
Yes, hopefully!!!
Peace & Love...Happy 80th Birthday "Billy Shears"!
Seems like he had a great one. Did you get to watch the birthday event?
@@FabFourArchivist It was fabulous!! What an uplifting and postive man Ringo Star is...arguably the greatest Beatle of them all...I truly believe he is the one that loved being a Beatle the most...Be well my friend and Peace & Love to you!
I saw Paul McCartney LIVE at Ringo’s birthday. Paul McCartney Live at Telenor Arena 7 July 2015.
I sat in with them one night in Feb. 1964 when they did some TV show (can't remember what) in NYC. Ha ha...not really. Anyway, glad to see you are giving your kids a proper musical education.
I was lucky enough to see Ringo on his 70th birthday at Radio City. I figured some famous friends would show up for the occasion and heard some rumors but I'll never forget the moment Macca came out and they sang Birthday together. It's one of a handful of times post Beatles they performed live together so I am super glad I got to see one of these little mini reunions! Also I actually met Ringo at a signing for his RingoRama album in '03 at the FYE store in Manhattan. This was before he stopped doing any autographs of course. (shout out to my Mom for coming along and waiting in line and thereby getting 2 signed copies) Still have the framed cd cover (man how I wish the vinyl resurgence was underway at that time) on my wall.
Great share.
I forgot how much Ringo promoted the 90s/00s records. An in-store signing sounds like a relic of the past!
My wife and have seen Paul twice and Ringo once. Fantasic
Cool experience. My wife saw paul for free in 2001.
It's her channel but use it. Im working on my own... I want you to hear that John Lennon album I kooked up. 👍
Dude where did you buy that lava lamp ? I love it!!
Thanks! Had it for 20 years! Came out with all the other promos for the ‘99 rerelease of Yellow Sub.
I’ve seen Ringo in Liverpool in 2011 I believe when I was 6 and Paul in London in 2015 at The O2 arena when I was 10
Very cool! I bet seeing Paul in London is something special. The O2 is massive, too, right? How were your seats?
FabFourArchivist Absolutely brilliant! I had had a good view of the stage from the balcony only the left hand side of the building (facing the stage). It’s one of, if not, the best concert I’ve ever been to!
Great great story 😊😊😊
Thanks for watching, Remko!
I have only seen Ringo once!!! And it was at the Rockefeller Center for the David Lynch Foundation Concert with Sheryl Crow and Paul McCartney in 2009!!! I will forget that experience!!
What a fantastic experience, Andrew! I've watched the clips from that show many times!
Well worth listening to this story. Beautful kids...nice work..
Glad you enjoyed it
This is a great channel for Beatles news and information. Love the vibe. Love that you are NOT sitting in a room with all your records stacked on shelves!
Thanks so much, Geoff! I'm glad to hear that vibe comes across.
I've got some vinyl, but I'm kind of minimalistic. Less to clean anyway. :)
Me and my partner went to the London premier of eight days a week I was wearing a Paul macartney mask my partner a Lennon mask yoko came to us she loved it and Giles Martin George his dad had just died I said sorry to here he loved that and the masks any way we where invited in to the film on the front row ringo and Paul came on stage and spoke and ringo held up my Lennon mask and said John’s in the building he shook my hand I was so grateful 🥁⭐️✌️❤️
Than you, great srory.
I took my boy to see Ringo last year for the the 30th anniversary of the All Starr Band. It was at The Greek Theater in L.A. near where we live, and our seats were about the same as yours. My son knew many of the songs from hearing them on the radio over the years. I was hoping to see Ringo again this year but 2020 has been uncooperative.
I heard that was a great show! I've always wanted to go to the Greek - glad you got to take your kid!
The only thing that comes close for me was being invited to the surprise 40th bday party for Phish's Mike Gordon, held at his house in Vermont. I would have loved to have met any of the Beatles.
Rad story. I hear those guys are super genuine.
I've been listening to a LOT of Phish lately. They've uploaded so many great live shows in the last few months!
It's nice you brought the kids.
They loved it (even if they don't remember it now!) The oldest still talks about it, though.
One mid 1990s Summer and a few of us lads were mooching around the Capital & calling in Lilywhites Sports Outfitters in Piccadilly Circus we clocked Ringo cornered by the Trainees display, we sauntered across and upon hearing our Scouse twang beamed at us as my mate asked him to sign his trainee box to "The lads from Old Swan."
lol. I read this to my kids in the best British accent I could muster. They laughed. Great story. :)
Oh yeah, how could I forget Ravi Shankar! 1970 Madison Sq Garden
Ringo Starr might be reading this comment then. Wow haha maybe it is a small world.
You never know!
Hey Lance.
I enjoyed your "close encounter" story. :-)
When we lived in Plant City, FL, the Beatles came to Jacksonville, FL, on their concert tour in Sept. 1964. I was ten. My sister and I begged Daddy to take us. The tix were only a few dollars ($4-5?). But, he said, "I'm not driving you to Jacksonville!"---which was about three hours away. I remember our parents said the Beatles would never last! We said, O yes they will!
Back in, I think, 1968---when I was not quite 15, we (our family) had recently moved to Orlando, FL. We were all in the car going to the shopping center. Daddy was driving, Mama in the passenger seat, my sister and I were in the back. We passed a public phone on a corner (not enclosed in a booth). My sister and I both saw him, and gasped, "That was Paul!" We were SURE it was Paul on the phone. But, with Daddy driving, that was the end of it!
I think it was the same summer when, again, Daddy was driving, we saw Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits talking with a girl in the Morrison's Cafeteria parking lot in Orlando. Later, we passed a car in the adjacent lane, which was being driven by Keith, with Barry in the back (both of Herman's Hermits) with a girl each. When they saw that we had recognized them, they sped away, laughing.
My sister and I were in the huge crowd at Paul's concert in Orlando in May 1993. It was GREAT to be at Paul's concert, but, that was the time he and Linda were involved in animal rights, and at big chunk of the concert was video on animal rights. I have to say, we were disappointed....but, still glad to have seen Paul "in person."
Thanks for chiming in, Cindy. I absolutely love hearing these stories! That had to have been Paul! ;)
As for the '93 gig, Paul is definitely not like that onstage nowadays. The music is great, but the setlist and banter are a bit stale: the Blackbird story, the Jimi Hendrix story, the Here Today story, etc. I'd love for him to shake it up a little (or a lot). But all that said: he's still a Beatle. It's still a great experience.
RINGO in the title = like 8)
In 1999, I was working in sales at the Atlanta Gift Mart and the news reported Paul was going to be there to support his daughter Heather who was displaying a giftware line. Long story short, a friend (who was a Beatle fanatic like me) & I were in a hallway that had been cleared by security. Paul comes down the hallway holding Heather's hand. My friend and I were the only ones in the hallway as they walked inches in front of us. We didn't ask for an autograph or shake his hand but just applauded because Paul was there as a father to support his daughter and we didn't want to take away from Heather's moment.
Thanks for sharing, Brian. So happy y'all got to be there for that. And good call on letting Heather and Paul just enjoy the moment.
Is Gift Mart the "market" that I hear about - like a trade show for stores?
Great video, keep this channel going. I'm already looking forward to your review of Peter Jackson's 2021 documentary on Let It Be :)
Thanks so much! Hope to have a new deep dive video out in a few weeks.
@@FabFourArchivist it's weird, I'm a music lover but dismissed the beatles all my life for reasons of not having enough instant gratification type songs, plus with expectations so high for their music I never went in with 'fresh' ears...it's only in the last two weeks I've actually started to carefully listen to them...Rubber Soul, The White Album, Sgt Pepper. It now all makes sense. The fact that Rain was a BSide, and that so many great songs were recorded during the album sessions. I now get it. They were on another level.
Ringo should be now a plumber if John and Paul didnt fired Pete Best
my dad took me to a Paul McCartney concert in Liverpool back in 2008. it was my first ever concert and it was supposed to be Paul's final ever tour. he was going to end it where it began (in Liverpool) obviously that turned out not to be the case. I only wish I was old enough to have understood the effect that Beatle's music would have on me later in life.
So cool, Dillon. Glad you got to see Paul in his hometown!
I saw Ringo And His All-Star Band live in Zwickau Germany 2 years ago and I was about 2 or 3 meters from the stage. I kept showing peace signs and looking at Ringo during one of the songs and then he looked at me and suddenly stopped playing the drums to point at me with his sticks. I wasn't sure if he meant me and gestured like that. He nodded and pointed again! Later as there was a little silence between 2 songs I shouted "Peace And Love" to which he replied "Pretty brave to speak up like that!" and smiled. One of the most amazing moments of my life! 😍
Haha! Isn't it funny how a few words from someone like that can stay with you forever? Thanks for sharing, Moritz!
@@FabFourArchivist True!!
Thanks for the great video man!
Peace and Love ✌ ❤
Here's one for you Lance. A few years back I passed a lady & her young daughter coming out of my local Tesco. Her daughter had a striking Hard Days Night t-shirt on so being a life long fan just had to stop them & comment. Anyway, it developed into a fascinating chat with the mum & she told me this. Back in the early 60's her dad worked as a head chef in a London based hotel. On the day of the Beatles Decca audition the lads lunched there and her dad personally served them. She was with her dad that day and went into the room with him, fully intending just to walk out again. However, John piped up and basically said no you can stay and spend some time with us. This she did during their lunch break & amazing to think that was pre-contract & they were little known outside of Liverpool & for that matter Germany! She said they were fantastic & I thanked her for such a wonderful personal gem! That instantly explained the Beatles t-shirt & all from a chance & fleeting encounter! Sorry if this posts twice as I tried earlier & nothing appeared to happen?
Thanks Rob! Such a cool story. To be a fly on the way for that conversation...
It's an amazing personal story & you could still see her joy at re-telling it so many years on. Who could possibly have imagined what those cheeky lads would go on to do & achieve! Re-listened today back through Beatles 1 & still can't comprehend the musical evolution from start to finish! 👍
Hey man where are you?
Finally carved out some time and made a new vid - just posted today! Thanks for checking in.
Are you still releasing videos? You haven’t released one in months.
When i was to young I listen to MJ all time and many famous singers from my father music from the end of 70s till 80s songs like bob marly and boney m than I run with some of small video takes many shot of band in 60s in 2005 all of tham very nice sounds but no one of tham beatles so i ask my mom she said beatles from that timw i buy albums and watch tham in tv thy come every time in news or whatever
Say "Peace and Love" at 12 Noon on July 7th ✌❤
Hope you didn't forget! :)

When asked probing questions that delve into the private lives of the Beatles, Ringo always replies "It was all about peace and love". Only Ringo and Paul know the truth, and they will take it to their graves.
Ringo and I share the same birthday. I am just 55 years younger
Happy belated birthday!
@@FabFourArchivist Thanks man!✌💗
This was recently re-posted on the official John Lennon Facebook page; British guitarist Chris Buck proves and confirms what a fine and under-rated musician John was. @
You have not posted anything in 4 months
im listening to the beatles albums for the first time. do i listen to abbey road or let it be first
Depends. LiB was recorded first, but released after Abbey Road. Pick your poison. ✌️
John Lennon would have been 80 on the 9th October.
Lance, is everything okay?
Brother in law Joe Walsh?
They’re married to the Bach sisters
I LOVE this personal story. I say that in spite of my recently destroyed admiration of Ringo and Joe Walsh because of their entirely non-Peace and Love TDS political stances in late years - but I guess I see now how they could have infected each other, as I somehow never knew the sister connection.
The Yellow Submarine "solo performance" and the astuteness to record it was amazing. Curious though, didn't Ringo speak well before 2012 about non-autographing? (Saddened at the album jacket - though I concur about the damage creating a "little piece of history" aspect.)
Thanks for chiming in, Bill. Yeah, I can't remember the date on the "no autographs" thing. Even if he had stopped by then, I would've taken the chance (especially with a preschooler with me! She melted hearts at that age!).
✌♥️😎🎂👍🍰
Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for stopping by, Paul.

Right after this video, Lance tweeted the following, yet the channel has been perfectly silent about it:
"Hey buddy. Decided to publish/sync my content (fabfourarchivist.com) elsewhere besides YT for a number of reasons. Looking at LBRY. After seeing it was blockchain-based, I figured you had mentioned it. I was right! Legit? You approve? Any concerns?"
Lance, do you have time to simply do a 30 second video explaining what the heck about this? Hello?
Great video and a lot of fun memories for you thanks for telling this . O and I do have a great story about Ringo but just to long to tell you so if you get the chance . Take a look at my video number ... I will look it up for you and get back to you ok thanks !!!!
Ok it is number 152 thanks for watching and I did enjoy your video !!! Happy 4 to you and your family :) !!!!
Just watched it! I love backstage stories, *especially* when it's a normal fan - not a press or industry guy. Sorry you didn't get to hang though.
Ringo wouldn't of sign it always
Ha. Probably not. I can't remember when the whole 'no autographs' policy kicked in though. I think it was after this story.
@@FabFourArchivist ya I think people were selling his autograph on ebay or something
"Peace & love peace & love" but let's keep quiet about agenda 21....
Ringo's all star band is one of the worst shows i ever saw, Paul Mc Cartney's show a few years ago on the other hand was one of the best i ever saw.
Oh no! What was bad about the Ringo show?
