The good thing about having to remove the batteries to charge is that you can have a second set all ready to go. Makes it easy to swap out the depleted batteries from another charged set and keep on mowing .

So happy you were able to get that mower. It is important to be able to ride around and carry heavy supplies, no need to wear out your back and legs, besides it is just so much more efficient. Property is shaping up. Have a Blessed day.

I agree - and that is a benefit of continued mowing that might be underestimated if you are just thinking how hard the initial cut is! Additionally I'd probably limit the area I wanted to keep as close cropped lawn, so that the mower was matched to the job :)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I work at Tractor Supply and we are going to be selling these mowers. I was skeptical of recommending an electric zero turn to a customer. But your video has made me confident that this mower would be a good option for anyone considering electric. The fact that you are mowing in a roughish rural overgrown area is excellent. I am going to recommend your video to any customer who is considering this mower. I hope you will get more views and we will sell some mowers.

I got this mower specifically to be able to drive it through a 36 inch door ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend or gate It is a little tight with the grass deflector installed but has more clearance with the deflector replaced by the recycler/mulcher. This model appears to be popular and a little harder to find for that reason. I can't judge the dependability as I have only mowed the yard twice but everything else on the mower is very nice and working fine so far. I added options for the run hour timer, arm backrests, recycler/mulcher, towing bracket, deck lift assist and cover.

I like your mower. We have a larger roof so in 2015 we installed solar panels. We also bought an electric car. We are very rural and lots of folks thought we would have problems. After no problems at all we up graded in 2020 and bought a bigger battery electric car. We also have lots of electric tools. After I developed mobility problems we got an electric scooter for around our six acre property. We have never paid an electricity bill since 2015. You won’t ever regret your purchase I am certain. 💕💕🌻🌻

I love seeing the improvements on the property. I think what you paid for that mower, you would have been halfway towards a used Kubota or John deer with a loader and a brush cutter. I don't think that mower will survive very long on the homestead, It's made for a suburban acre lot with a smooth lot. I'm looking forward to seeing you're first tractor. Thanks for all the great videos! Dave from Sicily

I love cleaning up overgrown lots in the US and thoroughly enjoy watching you work on your homestead. I'm currently serving in Sicily so I have a villa with no yard and nothing to do landscaping wise. I'm looking forward to moving near Greenville/Johnson City at some point in the near future. Maybe a video of your opinion of the towns nearby would be cool to watch. Thanks!

The ash you have in your burn barrel, once cooled of course, can be used for your poultry to give themselves dust baths. It works as a natural killer of lice, mites, etc. much like DE would. They may even ingest a bit of it if they are needing any of the minerals etc found in the ash. Pour the ash in a plastic tub (that they can get into) and they'll dive in!

If you went with the 80 or 82 volt version of this mower (its the same model), Greenworks has a Six Port Charger suitcase thing that chargers six 82 volt batteries at once through a single power cord, instead of using three duel chargers which can cause your house to trip the circult breaker if you're not careful distributing all three chargers. I just bought the 80 volt version and the six port charger might be something I might get in the near future.
I would suggest though eventually upgrading to one of those newer 60 volt mowers that just came out this year that you can plug in charge while the batteries are in the mower.

After watching this video on this mower I am pretty impressed. I then started searching out other videos on this mower and it seems to be very capable and quite an enjoyable mowing experience. So today I saw the they have a promotion on these mowers at Tractor Supply for 0% interest for 48 months. Seems like a no brainer. So I ran off and bought one of these mowers.
I actually prefer the removeable 60v batteries so that I can bring them inside to keep them warm in the winter months and just take my time about recharging them. I can also interchange these batteries with other Greenworks power tools. I already have an earlier model Greenworks push mower that has worked very well for me. I will just keep adding some more batteries as I can so that I can rotate batteries if I need more juice than a full charge can handle. Batteries are the life blood of these tools so have more than you think you need and life is quite convenient.
I also use solar power so it seemed like a great fit for my use case. Thanks for sharing. Would love to hear and update on how your mower has done on the homestead and the various ways you have found to put it to use.
Update: Just did the maiden mow with my Greenworks Zero Turn 60v. I was able to keep it on low speed, low cutting speed. It is whisper quiet and mowed very well. The controls are velvety smooth compared to my ICE zero turn. I am not going to miss my gas powered zero turn. It is a bit bouncy, but like you said the seat has springs. It works very well. Finished what I needed mowed this evening very quickly and still had 86% of the battery charge remaining. Hauling those batteries in the bag is painful. I will think of a simple way to cart those batteries to where I charge them. Overall very impressed at how well it mows and how quiet it is. Reverse is VERY slow. I had the chance to hook up the gorilla cart wagon and throw a few hundred lbs of feed for livestock in it and towed it across the road and over to where I keep livestock. It had no problem at all towing. Then loaded up with hay and brought that back across the road. No problems at all. I will be using the zero turn for a lot more than just mowing.
I can recommend the Gorilla Cart wagon for towing and moving things around the homestead.

    • @KillerRaptorr

That is true. Everything can be used electrically. But people want a faster means that require paying a cheaper, but more expensive over time route. Electric is pricy upfront but in the long end it's way less then 5% of what you'd have to pay for Gas,etc.
It can be alittle more challenging for going pure electric. But in the end it's worth the hassle to get it setup. Because once it's up and running it's less maintence and less hassle for the longer end run.
Nothing requires gas. But gas is simpler to set up and get running quicker.

I like that mower. It just powered through that stuff no problem. If you can get three hours of heavy cutting like that out of it on one charge that's pretty darn good. That's as much mowing as I'd ever want to do without a break. I really like the little pickup box and the fact you can put a trailer ball on it. Very handy. It'll be interesting to see how well it stands up to homestead life.

I have a Greenworks 60V Pro 21" Self-propelled mower, just got it. Does about a half acre on a single charge, the mower is equipped with 2 4 amp 60 volt batteries. The charger uses about 400 watts to charge 2 batteries. If you want to charge the batteries with solar,, you should consider a 2000 watt inverter and 2000wh or more in batteries.

I don't know anything about that mower, but I love how you rock that hat! Best hat.
Bringing solar to the homestead may be a phased project given the reported supply constraints.
A noble goal to depend less on the mains.
I may still have a generational reaction to electric lawn mowers. The one I had years ago died a horrible thankless death. The dent it left in my wallet still gives me small shock (pun intended....)

I got an electric self-propelled EGO push mower last year so that I could collect the grass for my compost piles. My husband uses a gas riding mower for some areas but it only mulches in place and he didn't want the big collection attachment. My EGO works great and the batteries are interchangeable with my Ego Chainsaw. Someone mentioned that you can use your grass clippings as a feeding supplement for the pigs. Win, win :) Nice work!

    • @TheKraemerLife

Nice, all of our other electric tools have interchangeable batteries which makes everything much more efficient. We will have to see how the pigs like the clippings.

Nate, it is neck reining versus direct reining. That will help you keep it straight in your mind.

I agree. You can't find any reviews of the 60V Greenworks ZT mower out there. Not too many people talking about it. It is one that I am considering because of the removable batteries. I do wish it had a port to plug into the wall instead of taking them out to charge but that is much better than the current Ryobi ZT mower. Although Ryobi is coming out with a new version with different batteries that I will be keeping an eye on.

@@luckylogan11 I'm Jake, I was watching an older guy maybe 70 push an electric push mower around a corner block in the suburbs- which was a vacant block. The grass he was mowing was about 4 inches long- but healthy green grass. His mower was a 'Stihl' brand.
I thought to myself- "the guy should have bought a self propelled mower"- as he did have a bad leg. So I watched very intrigued as to how well this electric push mower would perform.
I observed him having to stop every lap to clear the grass out from under the deck. And also other laps he had to stop, dislodge and refit the battery to clear an alarm or cut out protection , so it would continue. He did 4 or 5 laps only- and I saw the battery start flashing and the mower died completely. So he dragged the stupid thing back to his home up the street. I felt bad for him but then I knew that they are presented as a decent option in the mower shops. Stopping every lap and only doing 5 laps- leaving the block un mowed- that would have me just about throwing that thing away to the dump.

@@luckylogan11 have you looked at the Ego zero turn. 42 and 52 inch models available and with removable batteries but you can also recharge all the batteries by plugging the mower itself into the charger. Maybe it's worth a look. Both look great.

One of the reasons why I'm interested in this mower is because you can actually take out the batteries. To me I think that would be handy because in the winter time you can keep them in your house to properly maintain them through the winter and if one of them goes bad you'll be able to easily swap it out with a brand new one instead of replacing the whole pack

    • @TheKraemerLife
      @TheKraemerLife  2 года назад +1
