ZooLights Christmas Light Display At The Lincoln Park Zoo In Chicago - Lights, Animals, & Carousel.
We love anything to do with Christmas, and we're always looking for an excuse to go to Chicago, so we got to combine the two! We took the Amtrak to the Windy City to take in some classic Christmas events, and the last one we did that day was the wildest - we went to the Zoo! Yes, we went to see the ZooLights Christmas light display at Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo, and we had a blast. ZooLights is an event held nationwide at many zoos, but we had to see how Chicago did theirs, and they did not disappoint, adding their own twist to things. First off, not every zoo can boast a carousel, a train, and a Ferris wheel, but the Lincoln Park Zoo has that and more. The carousel is called the AT&T Endangered Species Carousel, and we ended up riding a Panda Bear and a Zebra - definitely a wild time! And while admission to ZooLights is free, some things. like the carousel, do cost extra. Tickets are $3 a piece, and the Carousel took one ticket, the train was one ticket, and the Ferris wheel was two tickets. There was also a 5-D theater experience that was two tickets. But, if you just want to come and enjoy the lights (which was basically what we did), you can do that all night and thoroughly enjoy yourself. The light displays were amazing, and even included a Sea Dragon out in the water! While you're gawking at all the lights, there is a great Christmas music soundtrack playing all over the park, which really helped get us in the Christmas spirit. And there are still animals out and about too, or at least a few of them.
We had a great time in Chicago, Illinois, at ZooLights in the Lincoln Park Zoo. If you've never been, put this on your list to see at Christmastime!

It was a lot of fun to go to. Just wish we’d been able to take our family with us! And we plan on going back this summer to see the zoo in the daytime.

Great stuff as usual. I go to the zoo lights by us (Tacoma, Wa) almost every year. Cost is like $10 each and includes a few animals and a nice aquarium area with sharks and things. Don't go as often now that my Son is older. Boo hoo.
Lol! Things change when the kids grow up, don’t they! I (Stan) used to live in Portland years ago, and we’d go up into Washington sometimes. Love that whole part of the country, and I was in Seattle about a year ago. I like that they have these events all around the country, but the only other one we’ve been to is the one at the St. Louis Zoo, which was very good too. We were talking about trying the one at the Cincinnati Zoo next year!
