      I'm not understanding why you're worried about that. The Law of Moses is no longer in force. As Paul put it, the Lord has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to His cross (Col. 2:13,14). He continues saying, Therefore let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ (Col. 2:16,17). These Christians were being criticized for not keeping the Law of Moses, especially with respect to remembering the Sabbath. In this passage Paul refers to keeping the Sabbath as a shadow of things to come, a phrase used by the Hebrew writer in reference to making animal sacrifices (Heb. 10:1-4). Just as the shadow of animal sacrifice was replaced by the substance of Christ’s sacrificial death, so is the shadow of remembering the Sabbath replaced by the substance of the Lord’s Supper on the first day of the week. There is just as much authority in the New Testament for remembering the Sabbath as there is for animal sacrifices none!

    • @BallersLife3
      @BallersLife3 10 месяцев назад +3

      @@kac0404The Sabbath from the Ten Commandments isn’t part of the law of Moses. The Sabbaths that we're a shadow to come was the annual Sabbaths. You also took those scriptures out of context.

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 10 месяцев назад +1

      @BallersLife3 Yes, it is! There is no separation between the Ten Commandments and the other Mosaic Laws - There is no Scriptural justification to separate the ten laws, the Ten Commandments, written on the stone tablets as separate from the 613 laws which make up the totality of the Mosaic Covenant. The Decalogue is representative of the Mosaic Covenant and is considered a summation of the Laws. It is this principle of unity of the law that is referred to in James 2:10. The totality of the law, being all 613 commandments, is taught in the New Testament. When the New Testament refers to the law, it refers to the 613 laws, not the 10. Here are a few of the many examples:
      - The Gospel of John says the Law was given through Moses (John 1:17). In John (John 8:5), we see that the Law of Moses includes stoning those that are caught in adultery (the punishment for stoning is not in the Ten Commandments). In John 7:23, Jesus includes circumcision as part of fulfilling the “Law of Moses.” Based on these three passages, we see that the Apostle John writes of the Law as one entity.
      - Jesus’ parents bring Him to the temple in Luke 2:22-24 for the ‘Law of Moses’ which is also interpreted in the same passage as the ‘Law of the Lord.’ After completing everything according to the ‘Law of the Lord’, the parents return to Galilee. The account teaches that the Law of Moses includes the sacrificial system.

    Hey Pastor Doug, I had a thought about another verse, Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
    It's quite easy to see and understand just from this verse that God expected his covenants and the Sabbath to be kept even up until 1000 generations, so if a generation in Israel is 40 years then the covenants and Sabbath are still valid today since the world is only 6000 years old 😊 Also I think there is a lot of confusion on who according to the N.T. is the Nation of Israel according to what Paul taught. People don't realize that we are Abrahams's seed and heirs according to the promise God established with Abraham. People don't understand that we as gentile believers in Christ have become part of spiritual Israel by faith in Christ, so, wouldn't this mean that every covenant established with Israel including the New Covenant is for everyone because we accept what the Jews were meant to through Christ? even though the Jews rejected it, If that's the case, then even if it were true the Sabbath was given to Israel, spiritually we are Jewish so the Sabbath and the commandments are still valid. Of course, we know that the New Covenant changed where and how the commandments are kept by being written on the heart. We keep the commandments because we are saved, not to be saved! Paul said Love is the fulfillment of the Law and that's why they were fulfilled in Christ because he had a perfect love for his father and fellow man and a servant's heart completely submitted to his father, it's no different for us today.
    Keep up the wonderful work Pastor Doug and Karen, may the Lord continue to bless your ministry, I would really love to see you do a video on dispensationalism in the Old Testament and the New Testament.

      Depends what you mean tho. Breaking the law is sometimes not the same as sinning, that is if He's the same person who gave out The Law.
      For e.g. Jesus who is the law giver along with God wouldn't be guilty of blasphemy because They are the law giver and that law isn't binding on them. Same with The Sabbath.
      Jesus is THE LORD of The Sabbath therefore over it and not under it.
      Just so simple to grasp...

      In Genesis 2:2-3, these verses say, “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” Please notice that in these two verses the Bible speaks about GOD, and about what GOD did. These verses do not mention mankind, they do not mention any command that God gave to man, and they do not mention man keeping the Sabbath. There is simply no proof in these verses in Genesis two that God wanted all men of all ages to keep the Sabbath.

You have no biblical evidence that the shadow law placed precisely in the center of the Decalogue was established on the first day after God ceased working his work of creation. You have no evidence that Shabbat was established any earlier than 430 years after the Abrahamic covenant was established. 2 Corinthians 3:7 But if the ministry of death [Exodus 31:14-18; Exodus 35:1-3; Numbers 15:32-36], written and engraved on stones [Exodus 20:8-11], was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance [Exodus 34], which glory was passing away [Hebrews 7-8], 8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 9 For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. 10 For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. 11 For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. 12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech- 13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face [Exodus 34] so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away [Hebrews 7-8]. 14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart [Lamentations 3:65]. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away [Matthew 27:50-51; Mark 15:37-38; Luke 23:44-46; John 19:28-34].

    God gave the Law to Moses for guiding the children of Israel. He didn’t give it to Adam, Noah, or even Abraham. He gave it to the Hebrews, the nation of Israel. Today however, God’s people are known as Christians - those who are of Christ, His Son. We are not Hebrews, or Jewish, nor Israelites. Therefore, we are not obligated or subject to that law - their law - in any way. The Old Testament (Covenant) was given specifically for them. Why then, would anyone want to use and apply things from that old law, such as tithing, or priestly clothing, or anything else that is not commanded of the Christian?

      @Camille Anselm The Laws of the Mosaic Covenant are fulfilled in Christ. The Law and the Sabbath were pointing to Christ, it was a shadow of what was to come, and not the substance (Colossians 2:16-17). Jesus said that He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17). In fulfilling the law, He completed the law. How did He do this? Jesus fulfilled the Law by obeying the law perfectly and by completing the sacrificial system. Jesus saves to the uttermost! In what way can we offer one more sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins? Jesus pronouncement, “It is finished,” signified the completion and fulfillment of the law.

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 Год назад +1

      @Camille Anselm THE LAW OF MOSES IS IN OBSOLESCENCE - Paul states that Christ is the end of the Law (for righteousness) in Romans 10:4. Galatians 3 shows that the law came 430 years after, and it was added to Abrahamic Covenant of circumcision. The law was given until the ‘seed should come.’ Christ, the seed has come. Hebrews teaches that the Mosaic Law provides the basis for the Levitical priesthood, but for the new priesthood to take place, the order of Melchizedek, a change of the law is required (Hebrews 7:18-22). Again, we learn this from Paul in 2 Corinthians 3:4-11. In this passage, Paul specifically refers to the Decalogue by saying the commandments written in stone have come to an end (v. 11).

    Both passages speak of a new heavens and a new earth that represent the church. The new heavens and earth of Isaiah 65 & 66 are different from the New heavens and New earth spoken of in the New Testament. Sabbatarians see the expression "New heavens and new earth" Isaiah 65:17; 66:22 and assume it is post resurrection heaven. This is their primary error, and I can prove it!

    I also loved at the end how you said psalms 40:8 says: I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.
    It’s interesting because I looked up 1 John 2:17 and it says: The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
    So It’s clear that we must be obedient to God, and love him and not simply make a profession of faith and continue to live like the world. Have a form of godliness but deny His power, or claim to know him but deny him by the way that we live.

    The popular view today is that the Ten Commandments don't apply under the new covenant. If correct, there should be zero positive New Testament references about the Ten. However, there are many such positive references. Consider this: end time believers are described as those who "keep the commandments" (Rev 14: 12) at a time just before the return of Jesus (verse 14). The commandments (entolas) referred to are the Ten Commandments because entolas also appears in Jesus' discussion with the rich young ruler in Matt 19:17-19. Entolas is also used in Mark 10:19; Luke 18:20; John 14:15, 21; 15:10; 1 John 2:3, 4; 1 John 3:22, 24; 5:2,3; 2 John 1:6; Rev 12:17. Therefore any negative Scripture about law is about reliance on law as a means to righteousness - the Pharisee's way to salvation. Paul railed against this approach in all his epistles while at the same time preserving the law (see Rom 2:13; 3:31; 7:12, 14; 8:7; 1 Cor 7:19; Eph 6:1-2). It will surprise many that the new covenant promise was actually given to old covenant Israelites. Jeremiah 31:31-34 is emphatic that the experience of forgiveness of sins results in the writing of God’s law in the hearts of the faithful - and the context applies this promise to a time when Israel would return from foreign captivity, not some future time after Christ's cross. Lastly, in new covenant times John sees the “ark of His testament” or the tablets of the10 Commandments in heaven (Rev 11:19). This is impossible if they were abolished. Trashing the Ten on earth when they're revered in heaven puts us on the side of Satan who hates the Ten Commandments - see Rev 12: 9, 17.

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 Год назад +1

      The Christian lives by the Law of Christ (Law of the Spirit) - We are not under the Mosaic Covenant; therefore, we are not obligated to keep the laws of the Mosaic Covenant. Insofar as we love God and love our neighbor, we keep the law of God in the New Covenant. We uphold the law by faith (Romans 3:31) and by love (Romans 13:8). We are under the Law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) and the Law of the Spirit of Life (Romans 8:2). There is confusion with the Law of Christ and the Law of Moses because they have similar commandments. But, because nine of the Ten Commandments can be found in the New Testament, it does not mean that the Law of Moses is still in effect. If a Christian steals, they break the law of Christ, not the Law of Moses. If we choose to keep part of the law (for example, dietary laws), we are free to do so, but keeping the Law of Moses is neither commanded or expected. To keep part of the Mosaic Law out of the belief that we are obligated to do so is to not have trust in the perfect and complete work of Christ.

      The Mosaic Covenant is made with Israel and not with the church - The Mosaic Covenant is a conditional covenant and not an unconditional covenant (Exodus 24:1-11). Because it is conditional, it can be broken and annulled. Unconditional covenants, in comparison, are not broken. God makes them and fulfilled by God without condition. The Mosaic Covenant is a conditional covenant made with Israel and not with the church. The Mosaic Covenant involves the 613 ‘Mitzvoth’ laws (blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience). The law of commandments and ordinances served as a wall (Ephesians 2:14-15) to separate the Israelites from the Gentiles. The Gentiles did not participate in the covenants of promise but were separated. Hebrews 8:13 renders the Mosaic Covenant as obsolete (the word for obsolete is the same Greek word used by Jesus in Mark 2:20-21 when He says not to sew old cloth on new).

Of course their custom was on the Sabbath to gather in the Synagogue...Gentiles could too but they were never required to. I don't see how that argument or contention is saying weekly Sabbath keeping is mandatory Jew or Gentile....Synagogue isn't just a gathering....it's a gathering of Jews not Christians.
