I actually think the Koertacoo cooling fan off amazon might be better.
I've got two of these and they're absolutely brilliant, however, the suction cup mounts simply do not hold, so...... I've taken to just wrap an elastic band around the whole kit and it works flawlessly. Currently using on the A6700 and the ZV-E1.
HOW LONG CAN YOU RECORD 4K60 ON ZVE1 USING THIS FAN?
as a Sony shooter, these overheating issues are really pushing me to go all in on Panasonic. LOVE our S5ii....
A7siii doesn’t overheat 😅
@@TravisVarga I have an FX30 also that does not overheat... but did get rid of rest of Sony cameras to go Panasonic. Open gate 6k for the win.
@@SlavGuns Good move - I have a GH1 ;) so Panasonic will always have a special place in my heart.
I could not help myself and purchase two. One for now and one for another camera in the future.
how did they work out for you? My biggest question that I haven't found an answer to is whether you can hear it or if it affects pixerl noise in high iso. I imagine a motor would generate enough of a magnetic field to possibly affect the sensor which is very close
Great content! One question, can you hear the fan noise in recording? How loud is it comparing to people talking in normal voice?
Magnetic mounting pad would be better than double sided adhesive.
Magnets might interfere with the inner components so not a good idea.
Thanks for sharing! No more overheating after updating the latest firmware and changing the settings
What were your settings?
Yeah what settings did you change and how long can you record for?
@@ChillStudyDatepower off serting to High
I am curious here too! What setting do you use to not get overheating?
@@yearofplentyvideo Update the firmware to the latest version
Set Internal Temp. Warning to High in the Auto Power OFF Temp. Option
Open up the screen.
Turn off WiFi
Turn off Bluetooth
Turn Airplane Mode on
Don’t block the back of the camera.
Don’t use external monitors as the output tends to generate more heat.
Ulanzi Cooling Fan is a good option if you still get overheating issue.
Love your videos! Can you make one about different telephoto lenses for Sony e mount and if the difference in aperture matters?
Great video idea!
@@TheCameraManReviewsThank You❤
now test it outside. +30C, direct sun . It overheats way faster
That would be a great test.
very good video
Also don't like the suction cup mounting thing but appreciate that it's not as permanent as adhesive. Any issues with closing the screen fully with just the sticker added?
Would be interested in seeing if someone found a USBC Y-cable that could keep both camera and fan powered indefinitely (not even sure USB PD Y-cables exist).
the rear screen closes with the sticker. 🙂
I wonder if just shooting in -20C weather would work better for cooling.
Your batteries wouldn't work for very long.
Does the thermal sticker leave any residue when/if you can take it off?
Nope, no residue, in fact it can be re-positioned and re-used a number of times.
@@TheCameraManReviews Thank You!
Wish you had tested it without recording for streamers. Do you think 4 hours+ is realistic 4k 30f or go for fx30 and get a separate camera for photos
You are going to be streaming for 4hrs?
Most of the heat is generated by recording to the internal SD card so you should be fine.
Can you use the fan while it's charging?
yep.
I bought this 😅
Hi. Is that a Kiwifotos eyecup?
Think the camera would overheat in 80-90 degree weather recording 5 min videos?
Should be ok if you turn the power off threshold to High.
The viewfinder is only 1 cm... Do you have any difficulty using the small viewfinder with spectacles? I love using viewfinder so want to know whether its easy or difficult to use the small viewfinder with glasses...
You can alter the focus on the viewfinder by the dial on the right hand side of it.
I wear glasses and have no problems 🙂
Hope this helps.
@@TheCameraManReviews yes, thanks for the reply..
Does a dummy battery help with heat?
It should, since it usually does on any camera
2 surprise to me. 1. without fan only 24 degree it only record 20ish mins for 50p..That worse than I thought. 2. one battery can only record just one hour and 10ish mins. That is quite poor for Sony standard.
Why did u let the camera cool down when testing with the fan and running out of battery? 🤦 You were just testing the camera's battery life. Would've been important to know whether it can continue recording indefinitely right a way after changing the battery.
Also the noise test was too rushed, the fan was still spinning up when u changed the speed and then ended the test.
Am I dumb? Because I cannot understand how this fan would work if there is a giant adhesive strip between the fan and the camera. Is there even any “vents” for airflow in and out of a weather sealed body? The results speak for themself but my neanderthal brain cannot comprehend this. 😂 Good to know about this product regardless. 👍
The camera had a metal plate connected to the back pannel inside so if you cool down the back pannel the cooling plate also gets colder.
or just buy fx30 :P
if it had soft skin effect I would...
@@simoz78 haaaaaaa GAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY
I'm not buying a 1500 dollar camera to have to strap a damn fan to the back of it. Sony knew this but released the camera anyway.
That is a good point. 😔
They release Sony fx30 which is more exp, but with fan))
@@user-gw6pv3ni4i but can't do picture so No.
The best upgrade would be to pay $400 more and get a LUMIX S5ii. For anyone who watches this enjoy the journey! Cheers!
The S5ii is a superb camera!
yeah if u want something massive and heavy
only if it doesn't have shitty autofocus and not heavy as fvck.
A6400 is much better
How so? Specs and new tech says opposite...
@@NanonerMcKologico buy and you'll see, sony cameras are progressing by selling expensive cameras, but the thing is in expensive sony lenses, they make a difference, not 450 or 500 battery life and flip screen, because you buy three batteries and that's it.
just because u can't afford new gears u shouldnt bash it...
@@simoz78 just because you can't get your camera on doesn't mean that you know something that you think you know and that you convinced yourself you knew when you didn't know anything that you don't know that you don't know about cameras and gears
is much better at wasting time changing batteries constantly thats it.
