I recently had a viewer come up to me and tell me I was the reason they started detecting, they’re now quite talented as the hobby themselves. It really humbled me and spurred me to keep on making videos that appeal to those starting out in the hobby, or simply swinging for a bit of inner peace. Merry Christmas Helen 😊
Detecting is the best hobby I have found for mental health. So nice to just tune out the noise of the world and enjoy nature. Modern life is really torturous to the mind and most people me included live with constant anxiety and depression so hobbies like this are needed and are very effective therapy.
I couldn’t have said it any better. Metal detecting does wonders for managing my anxiety and that is worth more than any treasure. Happy hunting to you. 😊
I have been using the legend all summer and I have to say that I am impressed. It is a very capable machine and as much as I didn't want to admit it, the legend has out performed the 800 in really iron infested cellar holes. As much as I try to keep an open mind, I was a bit of a mine lab fan boy. I don't think you will regret that purchase. I also admire your thought process going into this purchase. We can get caught up on the latest and greatest product and having to spend the long dollar to keep up and find it all. The legend is a proven machine at a great price.
I can empathise with the comment on brand loyalty, I started with Minelab and have owned five ML machines. I have nothing against the brand at all and the Manticore does look very impressive, however if I only swung the top-end machines I feel it’d be a real disconnect from my purpose with these videos, which is to introduce folks to the hobby and detecting for mental health (not just treasure!). Looking forward to playing with the Legend a lot more over summer and of course getting out with the Deus 2 here and there as well. Variety is good! Happy hunting 😊

Hello Mish. I’ve had the Nokta Legend pro pack for almost a year now and it is a great machine. I have found several gold and silver rings with it. Mostly with the 6 inch coil. I still use my Nox 600 in the water, but I finally used the Legend in the beach water and it worked equally as well as my Nox 600. Once you get used to the settings, you’ll do well. Happy Hunts. _/ 👍

I love how stable the Mw beach mode is in the water even on high sensitivity, I was running it at 26 and with the 11” coil without any chirping when I took it wading recently (hopefully coming soon as a video 😉). Welcome to the Legend club and what a great choice, although I am a little bias! 😂That was a great first outing and hope to see lets more of it soon. I have only had my Legend a short while too so still learning it along with the new updates from Nokta, but loving it so far here in England. Merry Christmas and hope 2023 brings more great finds.

Looks like a pretty good bit of kit and a bit kinder to the hip pocket too. Does make you wonder why there are old shells found on beach and those Florins were wonderful. If ever I was to get into detecting this is definately one I would look at
I can explain the old shells 😊 this particular area has changed very significantly over the last century, the shells would’ve originally been on land/soil however the coast outline has changed dramatically since then and what was once land, is now sand and water. Probably were used for hunting or pest control in the bush that no longer exists. It’s a decent bit of kit for the price it seems, I’ll keep on reporting how I go with it! 😁 Cheers Brett.

Not too chatty really, I feel it is faster to show variations in IDs on the screen, so in a sense looks less stable but I’ve been able to pick targets out among surrounding iron signals too. It’s actually more stable in water than the Equinox at a higher sensitivity, I was running it quite hot in the water yesterday without it chirping. Planning to take it out on land in the next few days 😁 Merry Christmas Speedy!! 🎄

There are a couple of stores running out E-tracs at the moment for $895 with free shipping at the moment, so I grabbed one as I always regretted getting rid of my old one, but I'm definitely going to try out the Legend as my next purchase, I hear good things and you certainly seem to be enjoying this one. Sensitivity goes up to 30, I ran it completely stable at 26 with the 11” coil in salt water. Could’ve run it at the full 30 if I didn’t mind chirps, but I didn’t feel the need. I’m sure it’ll get even more powerful once I get my head around it’s recovery, ground balance etc settings (first few hunts have just been factory settings!). 😄

I did make a comment in your Members Only chat about how sometimes the things you find aren't necessarily the treasure; the adventure is the treasure, but then threw in the allowance that, yes, "Florins are nice too." and now here you are finding TWO of them! Twice as nice. When you said the brass decorative piece looked like an embellishment on a set of drawers, you got me laughing. Where I come from we call underwear "drawers" so as soon as I heard you say that my first thought was, "That would certainly be uncomfortable." 22:42. My first thought was a trim piece or edge protector for luggage, suitcase or trunk, but I'm probably way off the mark. One more thing, Mish. Hi Mish, you will be pleased with The Legend once you’ve dialled in some settings and got used to the VDI, I use both The Legend and the Deus II I recently sold my NOX800 as I couldn’t get on with it. The Legend is basically a Simplex on steroids, it’s a great coin shooter on the beach. Keep up the great vids I enjoy watching them look forward to further content in 2023 keep up the great work 🎉

Hi Susan! I’ve found quite a few Florins over the years on RUclips, one of my older videos actually shows me pulling FOUR of them out of a creek that was washing out due to wild weather. They’re not common, but always a treasured find when they turn up. 😊 Cheers and merry Christmas!

Don’t worry, you are still in great hands with the 800, it is a very capable machine and I have found so many wonderful items with one. 😊 Even though I’ll be swinging different machines, I still try to indicate whether a target is a low, mid or high range target on the ID scale - so that users of other tech can still understand what sort of tones they’d expect on their own machines for differing types of targets. 😊 happy hunting!!

Me and the wife are new to detecting and the Nokta Legend is my first machine, on the beach it's so quiet I have to put it near the scoop to check it's on sometimes. Love the videos with all the different machines 👍

With the amount of new Metal Detectors hitting the market... I'm starting to feel like they are like new phones. SLIGHT improvements but they keep raising the prices higher and higher.. getting us to take sides on which is better... when the reality is in most situations the cheaper machines will find more or less the same things just in a different way. Keep on swinging that thing! 👍
I couldn’t agree more, the gap in performance is really closing these days and production costs are getting more expensive as time goes on. At the end of the day I’m just happy to get out and about, however based on my initial hunt results it looks like the Legend is going to live up to its name. Happy hunting 😁
Hi Italia, I am aware this is an option however I am not fond of having much external audio when surrounded by people, so the tones are generally quite quiet in my videos. I do try to discuss whether tones are high or low, and I turn the volume up when I’m detecting in remote places. I’m sorry if this doesn’t work for you. Happy hunting 😊

Hi Mish, it would be great to set up a patch of land with different types of targets in different soils/conditions at different depths and then run a variety of detector brands and models over it to see the abilities of each machine. Probably sticking to using the standard sized coil that each machine comes from the factory from would be the fairest. I think it would give some very interesting results .
Hi Tim! I must admit, I’ve actively avoided doing test videos as quite often they’re the only type of video I can find on newer machines, there’s already a bunch out there on the D2/nox/Legend. I prefer to take people on journeys and see what I can find organically, bearing in mind that everyone’s soil and sand conditions will vary and this could very well affect test results. Also, carrying a collective $5K of machines (if I took all three) out to a location by myself wouldn’t feel very secure. 😂 I will however look at doing some quick tip videos in time, even if they’re just reference videos like target IDs and so forth 😊 Cheers mate!!

G’day Ray, Merry Christmas! 😊 The Nokta Legend has a really significant sale on at the moment, the pack I have is normally worth AUD$1249 however it’s actually down to $1059 right now, I’d send your nephew to this link to consider - www.detect-ed.com/products/the-legend-pro-pack?ref=3 Essentially, the Minelab Equinox 800 is now a superseded model. The new comparable model is the Equinox 900, it does come with an extra coil in the box and some build quality improvements now but is an extra $500 or so. This machine I’m using will work in the same terrain and has two coils at the same price of the Equinox 800 with only one coil. I’ll keep swinging the legend in the coming weeks to see how it performs in my usual terrain, preliminary results have been promising so far. Cheers Ray!!

The comments suggesting the Legend were a great reality check for me, I’ve not regretted this decision as the machine has been performing very well on the beach for me! First land dig probably today before the heat kicks in. Cheers V 😄
Great finds Mish! Still considering the 900 myself, since I need a detector for freshwater lakes and the 800 has proven unreliable in the waterproof department. The Manticore for its price, still has the same problem as the 800, faulting on deep iron. When Minelab solves that problem, then maybe I can justify the cost. Also, I had not realized how much your currency had depreciated since I was there in 1975, when it cost me $1.20 in exchange for an Aussie dollar. Paper back then!
Waterproofing is always a huge factor for me when selecting a machine. The Australian Nokta service centre has yet to receive a waterlogged Legend for repair and the machine has been out for nearly a year, I think that speaks volumes! The Manticore looks fantastic and the 900 has definitely had some improvements made so I suspect it will be more waterproof, but the new price point will be a barrier for many folks. The currency difference is huge right now, ordering anything online from the US is a little expensive for us at the moment!! I still have some of the paper dollars in my collection 😊 cheers Vern!
I always enjoy your videos and this one made me very happy on Christmas Eve in the USA. The Legend is such a fine detector. Nokta outdid themselves. Obviously you took to its very nice audio really quickly and had a great first hunt. I have had mine since it was released in the USA and couldn’t be happier. My Equinox 800 has sat in the corner……actually it is getting a well earned rest. Between Deus 2 and the Legend, you have water hunting and diving covered really well. If you happen to do anymore gold prospecting, the Legend with 6” coil is extremely sensitive to the sub gram gold. Happy Hunting!
Jeff, you might not realise it but your kind words about me on a forum earlier this year (that were later brought to my attention) were one of my highlights for 2022. Thank you for your kindness. 😊 I think the combination of the D2 and Legend will serve me really well, I now effectively have three coils at my disposal (6,9,11) and a solution for every scenario above or below the sea level. I’ve had the pleasure of being present when the Legend with a 6” coil found gold, back when I took the D2 prospecting. All the pieces found with either machine were 0.1g or smaller. Impressive! I will be doing that same trip again this year around April and will give the Legend a shot next time. 😉 Cheers!!

Nice choice detector, I’d considered this but went down the line of deus 2. Great finds, machine is already paying for itself. Interesting to see what adventures you have for us.
Don’t get me wrong - I looooove my D2 and it will remain my primary land machine because the audio information is just fantastic - but it is sure nice to showcase some variety on the channel! 😊

I recently had a viewer come up to me and tell me I was the reason they started detecting, they’re now quite talented as the hobby themselves. It really humbled me and spurred me to keep on making videos that appeal to those starting out in the hobby, or simply swinging for a bit of inner peace. Merry Christmas Helen 😊
Detecting is the best hobby I have found for mental health. So nice to just tune out the noise of the world and enjoy nature. Modern life is really torturous to the mind and most people me included live with constant anxiety and depression so hobbies like this are needed and are very effective therapy.
I couldn’t have said it any better. Metal detecting does wonders for managing my anxiety and that is worth more than any treasure. Happy hunting to you. 😊
I have been using the legend all summer and I have to say that I am impressed. It is a very capable machine and as much as I didn't want to admit it, the legend has out performed the 800 in really iron infested cellar holes. As much as I try to keep an open mind, I was a bit of a mine lab fan boy. I don't think you will regret that purchase. I also admire your thought process going into this purchase. We can get caught up on the latest and greatest product and having to spend the long dollar to keep up and find it all. The legend is a proven machine at a great price.
I can empathise with the comment on brand loyalty, I started with Minelab and have owned five ML machines. I have nothing against the brand at all and the Manticore does look very impressive, however if I only swung the top-end machines I feel it’d be a real disconnect from my purpose with these videos, which is to introduce folks to the hobby and detecting for mental health (not just treasure!).
Looking forward to playing with the Legend a lot more over summer and of course getting out with the Deus 2 here and there as well. Variety is good!

Hello Mish. I’ve had the Nokta Legend pro pack for almost a year now and it is a great machine. I have found several gold and silver rings with it. Mostly with the 6 inch coil. I still use my Nox 600 in the water, but I finally used the Legend in the beach water and it worked equally as well as my Nox 600. Once you get used to the settings, you’ll do well. Happy Hunts. _/ 👍

I love how stable the Mw beach mode is in the water even on high sensitivity, I was running it at 26 and with the 11” coil without any chirping when I took it wading recently (hopefully coming soon as a video 😉). Welcome to the Legend club and what a great choice, although I am a little bias! 😂That was a great first outing and hope to see lets more of it soon. I have only had my Legend a short while too so still learning it along with the new updates from Nokta, but loving it so far here in England. Merry Christmas and hope 2023 brings more great finds.

Looks like a pretty good bit of kit and a bit kinder to the hip pocket too. Does make you wonder why there are old shells found on beach and those Florins were wonderful. If ever I was to get into detecting this is definately one I would look at
I can explain the old shells 😊 this particular area has changed very significantly over the last century, the shells would’ve originally been on land/soil however the coast outline has changed dramatically since then and what was once land, is now sand and water. Probably were used for hunting or pest control in the bush that no longer exists.
It’s a decent bit of kit for the price it seems, I’ll keep on reporting how I go with it! 😁 Cheers Brett.

Not too chatty really, I feel it is faster to show variations in IDs on the screen, so in a sense looks less stable but I’ve been able to pick targets out among surrounding iron signals too. It’s actually more stable in water than the Equinox at a higher sensitivity, I was running it quite hot in the water yesterday without it chirping. Planning to take it out on land in the next few days 😁 Merry Christmas Speedy!! 🎄
Really enjoyed the hunt with the new Legend and I guess you did also finding the florins. It speaks volumes that you would purchase a metal detector to help other people make a decision about the hobby.👍

Sensitivity goes up to 30, I ran it completely stable at 26 with the 11” coil in salt water. Could’ve run it at the full 30 if I didn’t mind chirps, but I didn’t feel the need. I’m sure it’ll get even more powerful once I get my head around it’s recovery, ground balance etc settings (first few hunts have just been factory settings!). 😄

I did make a comment in your Members Only chat about how sometimes the things you find aren't necessarily the treasure; the adventure is the treasure, but then threw in the allowance that, yes, "Florins are nice too." and now here you are finding TWO of them! Twice as nice.
When you said the brass decorative piece looked like an embellishment on a set of drawers, you got me laughing. Where I come from we call underwear "drawers" so as soon as I heard you say that my first thought was, "That would certainly be uncomfortable." 22:42.
My first thought was a trim piece or edge protector for luggage, suitcase or trunk, but I'm probably way off the mark.
One more thing, Mish. Now you can only top this adventure by finding 3 Florins in one hunt. I have faith in you so as always, looking forward to your next adventure! Later, friend!
Waaaaay back in the early days of the channel, I found four Florins in a creek wash-out - that’s my record in a single hunt thus far. Going to be hard to top that one.

Hi Mish, you will be pleased with The Legend once you’ve dialled in some settings and got used to the VDI, I use both The Legend and the Deus II I recently sold my NOX800 as I couldn’t get on with it. The Legend is basically a Simplex on steroids, it’s a great coin shooter on the beach. Keep up the great vids I enjoy watching them look forward to further content in 2023 keep up the great work 🎉

Hi Susan! I’ve found quite a few Florins over the years on RUclips, one of my older videos actually shows me pulling FOUR of them out of a creek that was washing out due to wild weather. They’re not common, but always a treasured find when they turn up. 😊 Cheers and merry Christmas!

Don’t worry, you are still in great hands with the 800, it is a very capable machine and I have found so many wonderful items with one. 😊 Even though I’ll be swinging different machines, I still try to indicate whether a target is a low, mid or high range target on the ID scale - so that users of other tech can still understand what sort of tones they’d expect on their own machines for differing types of targets. 😊 happy hunting!!

Me and the wife are new to detecting and the Nokta Legend is my first machine, on the beach it's so quiet I have to put it near the scoop to check it's on sometimes. Love the videos with all the different machines 👍

With the amount of new Metal Detectors hitting the market... I'm starting to feel like they are like new phones. SLIGHT improvements but they keep raising the prices higher and higher.. getting us to take sides on which is better... when the reality is in most situations the cheaper machines will find more or less the same things just in a different way. Keep on swinging that thing! 👍
I couldn’t agree more, the gap in performance is really closing these days and production costs are getting more expensive as time goes on. At the end of the day I’m just happy to get out and about, however based on my initial hunt results it looks like the Legend is going to live up to its name. Happy hunting 😁

Hi Italia, I am aware this is an option however I am not fond of having much external audio when surrounded by people, so the tones are generally quite quiet in my videos. I do try to discuss whether tones are high or low, and I turn the volume up when I’m detecting in remote places. I’m sorry if this doesn’t work for you. Happy hunting 😊

It’s a great value pack with the extra coil in there. I haven’t tried the 6” coil yet but I have been out detecting with a friend when they found small gold with one. Keen to keep testing it at all my usual spots. 😁 Cheers Wayne!

I’m impressed with the build quality for the price, though shouldn’t be surprised - my Nokta PulseDive pinpointer is fairly well bomb-proof.

Hi Mish, it would be great to set up a patch of land with different types of targets in different soils/conditions at different depths and then run a variety of detector brands and models over it to see the abilities of each machine. Probably sticking to using the standard sized coil that each machine comes from the factory from would be the fairest. I think it would give some very interesting results .
Hi Tim! I must admit, I’ve actively avoided doing test videos as quite often they’re the only type of video I can find on newer machines, there’s already a bunch out there on the D2/nox/Legend. I prefer to take people on journeys and see what I can find organically, bearing in mind that everyone’s soil and sand conditions will vary and this could very well affect test results. Also, carrying a collective $5K of machines (if I took all three) out to a location by myself wouldn’t feel very secure. 😂
I will however look at doing some quick tip videos in time, even if they’re just reference videos like target IDs and so forth 😊

Essentially, the Minelab Equinox 800 is now a superseded model. The new comparable model is the Equinox 900, it does come with an extra coil in the box and some build quality improvements now but is an extra $500 or so. This machine I’m using will work in the same terrain and has two coils at the same price of the Equinox 800 with only one coil.
I’ll keep swinging the legend in the coming weeks to see how it performs in my usual terrain, preliminary results have been promising so far. Cheers Ray!!

Nice chat at start of video Mish that’s what it’s about fresh air adventure I started with Garrett a year ,then excal year& half currently Legend from Ed since they came out living in marina at beach still take excal out ,it’s not always about $$ I could buy anyone I like maybe later I’ll get a minelab 6000 I do want to try this Legend at goldfields soon keep up awsome videos cheers 👌
The comments suggesting the Legend were a great reality check for me, I’ve not regretted this decision as the machine has been performing very well on the beach for me! First land dig probably today before the heat kicks in. Cheers V 😄
Great finds Mish! Still considering the 900 myself, since I need a detector for freshwater lakes and the 800 has proven unreliable in the waterproof department. The Manticore for its price, still has the same problem as the 800, faulting on deep iron. When Minelab solves that problem, then maybe I can justify the cost. Also, I had not realized how much your currency had depreciated since I was there in 1975, when it cost me $1.20 in exchange for an Aussie dollar. Paper back then!
Waterproofing is always a huge factor for me when selecting a machine. The Australian Nokta service centre has yet to receive a waterlogged Legend for repair and the machine has been out for nearly a year, I think that speaks volumes! The Manticore looks fantastic and the 900 has definitely had some improvements made so I suspect it will be more waterproof, but the new price point will be a barrier for many folks.
The currency difference is huge right now, ordering anything online from the US is a little expensive for us at the moment!! I still have some of the paper dollars in my collection 😊 cheers Vern!

The Legend is such a fine detector. Nokta outdid themselves. Obviously you took to its very nice audio really quickly and had a great first hunt. I have had mine since it was released in the USA and couldn’t be happier. My Equinox 800 has sat in the corner……actually it is getting a well earned rest. Between Deus 2 and the Legend, you have water hunting and diving covered really well. If you happen to do anymore gold prospecting, the Legend with 6” coil is extremely sensitive to the sub gram gold. Happy Hunting!
Jeff, you might not realise it but your kind words about me on a forum earlier this year (that were later brought to my attention) were one of my highlights for 2022. Thank you for your kindness. 😊 I think the combination of the D2 and Legend will serve me really well, I now effectively have three coils at my disposal (6,9,11) and a solution for every scenario above or below the sea level.
I’ve had the pleasure of being present when the Legend with a 6” coil found gold, back when I took the D2 prospecting. All the pieces found with either machine were 0.1g or smaller. Impressive! I will be doing that same trip again this year around April and will give the Legend a shot next time. 😉 Cheers!!

Nice choice detector, I’d considered this but went down the line of deus 2. Great finds, machine is already paying for itself. Interesting to see what adventures you have for us.
Don’t get me wrong - I looooove my D2 and it will remain my primary land machine because the audio information is just fantastic - but it is sure nice to showcase some variety on the channel! 😊
