They gave you soil to put in the test tube as it helps the larva to form a shell around him to become a pupa but you can still put it on the out world and try putting it in the entrance of the test tube more as it will be easy for her to grab the dirt while staying in the test tube and when there will be workers they will go to the out world and get the dirt from there
Awesome video! Messor queens have a tendency to get stressed easily and it makes them eat their eggs, so the founding stage can take a long time. Just try not to disturb her often and she should have workers within a month or two. 👍

I thought you Stopped keeping ants😂😄, I also have messor Barburas. I got her as just a queen, she get around 20-30 workers during the summer but now I took them out of hibernation 1 month ago and she only has 10 workers now😱😨😥😓😥😱. I hope she gets better this summer

I really liked ur ant videos in the past and hope I can learn form this new series too :D. Ants hq seems like it has good deals so I may get another species sometimes in the next few months!
Please note- Messor Barbarus can see through the red actete! I personally can confirm this as I have 7 species of ants and whenever I turned on the light before I noticed my messors would always freak out under the red while none of the others responded.

Look into getting a endoscope for escapee, and picture taking. For less than $30 you can not go wrong, and you might being adding this to your must have equipment.

Should I stick to using the stick or just leave her be and she will find food on her own?

Please help! So yesterday my roughly 2 month old crestie arrived from joshes frogs. It’s been pretty sleepy, it’s actually not too scared of me since I’ve stuck my hand in the cage to put food in there. I’ve put Pangea in a sauce cup on the bottom of the floor along with water. I’ve scattered mealworms, crickets and veggies around the cage. My gecko is really small and my cage small for a full grown gecko but big for a baby, potentially too big that it’s not finding the food. I’m scared that it’s starving since it’s pretty sluggish, yet I realize this is to be expected since it arrived yesterday. I’m wondering should I just try picking it up so I can hand feed it? I feel like I really need to leave it alone but like I’ve said I’m worried it’s hungry and thirsty. Please help me! I’m unsure of what to do!

I think the harvester ants in Texas are Pogonomyrmex species, not Messor, but I don't know US ants as well as European ones.
