    Looked like the the boat could have self drained better after he turned around. It just got worse and worse. He looked liked a smooth operator, handled it all calmly. Another reminder of how shit can go wrong very quickly at sea. Glad he’s okay

    The big question, what if he'd gunned it out at 1:00 instead of turning in for the shore. Looks like he'd reached the outer edge of the break. Was it analogous to a swimmer caught in a rip when it's better to go out than try to make in. Looks like he got into real trouble after taking water in over the stern.

    There is a perfectly good massive estuary system there. So if it's not glassed out, and you only have a small boat go Flatty fishing, or try your luck at some nice mangrove Jack's. You never know in the warm months you could catch an elusive Barra. And I'm sure if you chuck a pot or two in you can get some nice muddies for dinner.

    • @ianrawlings2546
      @ianrawlings2546 2 года назад +3

      That estuary is an awesome place to fish. Never heard of anyone catching a Barra that far South, but you never know what might eat a whole/live mullet meant for a Mulloway! Day like that I would have stayed inside the bar and gone after a few nice table fish: flatties; whiting; even silver trevally. Put out a live bait for the odd big one. Or gone home to watch the footy, NRL I mean not that other game.

      This was a big issue i faced when setting the boat up, it was always arse heavy. On this day i had two tanks of gas up front (50ltrs) a and the anchors mounted to the nose to a distribute the weight. The boat looks pretty even in the water. It was just a curling wave that put me at a bad angle. Also still heavy in the back anyway.

      @@NZMuzz I actually had two 1100gph, but as they were not on float switches it took me a couple of seconds to initiate the shock and get into survival mode and get them on. By that stage the boat had 200litrs in a and the outlets were pushing water into water a and not working great, plus then more and more water coming in there was no hope. From this experience bilges should be on float switches on a auxiliary battery mounted up front.
