The big problem with these false allegations is "plausible deniability", which is a favorite for defense attorneys. Unless one can prove definitely that a false accusation was made intentionally to ruin someone's life, the false accuser has many excuses to fall back to and just get away with a slap on the wrist. Putting it in a sentence, "I just wanted to teach him a lesson, I didn't know the parents will react so violently", and this false accuser has enough leverage to avoid serious jail time.

While some may be exaggerated, I could see some parents being as psycho as this, and the girl who accused the brother of SA to end up having lied because she didn't like him. I've seen many stories across numerous channels where a controlling girlfriend or psycho ex-girlfriend would threaten to accuse the boyfriend of SA or go through with the accusations in order to see him crumble.
