@@stingrey1571 Rodman was extremely quick. So in addition to rebounding, he offered great defense, and on offense, he could finish on the break and didn't miss putbacks around the basket.

Great job👍🏽 Dennis is such a humble yet broken person. It's great to see him in this light.. May God bless him🙏🏽💖 And i pray for his heart to be healed💖
We've got a lot in common, you and I, Dennis. I had no mother, and dad worked from sunup to sundown almost every day... and was emotionally damaged and distant when he wasn't punishing me. I too lived mostly alone until 6 or 7 at night, with no support other than the clothes on my back and a roof over my head. I always wondered what it would be like to have the love and support of a mother. You're not alone Dennis.
Not to mention; no hugs in my home (me and dad alone). I became a late bloomer in sports too. In my 20's I was told by a former pro football player that I played with that he was going to get me a tryout with his former Hawaii college coach. And later a team of basketball players at Fullerton College did their best to get me on their college team. I was MVP of the track team with all the jumping records in high school but it didn't lead to anything. I wasn't experienced enough in basketball (my love) or football. But I too changed the game when I entered... by my shear hustle and athleticism. You're my black brother from another mother... huh?
It’s sad when you think about it. Dennis grew up practically without a parental figure. That’s tough! As a player, unquestionably, he probably was the hardest working basketball player to ever play in the NBA. He just needed direction and he didn’t have that growing up.
I had the unbelievable pleasure of actually meeting Dennis in Vegas in '11 and let me tell you the guy was cool and as down to earth as they come. But what was really interesting about that encounter was how much he love's MJ and Scottie. I mean when he started talking about them his face lit up and you could tell in his mind he was reliving those moment's of playing with them. I was only around him for about 30-45 minutes but in that brief time you can tell he was a really good guy.
It's endearing seeing his dynamic with them. It's great that Michael and Scottie came to accept Dennis as a teammate (and hopefully as a person) considering how much they still hate Isiah and The Pistons 😆😆.
This is how an interviewer treats an interviewee. Jackie is empathetic, thoughtful and allows Dennis to express himself without interjecting, impressive journalism.

Love you Dennis. Jackie, Thank you for handling this conversation with compassion, patience, and support. This conversation is a gift for all of us willing to listen. Truly listen.
I feel the need to state this from my experiences: First off, I think this is going to be an AWESOME documentary. Secondly, as a person who grew up in the projects, didn't have a father that raised me because he left my mother when I was a baby, a mother was VERY hard-nosed and old school and living in a very toxic and rough environment, I realized early on in life that if I wanted to make a change I had to do it. Once I started having kids (I have four teenage sons), I realized that I needed to make sure that they NEVER experienced what I experienced as a child. My mother wasn't a hugging mother either, but I knew she loved me through her actions. My dad didn't come into my life until I was about 9 years old. Then, he would pop in and out, more out than in. To this day, I have 24 years in the military (joined when I was an E-1 and promotable to O-5 now), did 19 years of civilian law enforcement and finished up my second Master's a few months ago. I am not stating this to brag or boast, I state this because I believed in myself (and in other sources) and knew and know that I MUST ensure that my kids, my family, and my friends have a good example in what real man is supposed to do and how a man is supposed to condone himself. There is ALWAYS something that we can do to better ourselves. It's NEVER over, Mr. Rodman. It's up to YOU to make the change; no one else can do this for you, Sir. If you are ready to be the man, the husband, the boyfriend, the father, the brother, the friend that YOU KNOW you need to be. It's all on you, brother. I wish you well and Godspeed...
As a teenager myself, reading this really inspired me to one day, hopefully, become an example to my kids like you did sir. Thank you for sharing this.
Sometimes having a father is worse then not having one because your idea of a father never gets shattered with truth. You decided to make a change in your life and that was to go in to the army? Just clarifying .As an American I appreciate and respect those who’ve served to protect our country at any capacity. I’ll leave it at that. You were and are loved. I saw the Oprah interview and you got emotional when you talked about your son. YOU ARE A GREAT FATHER AND YOU HAVE DONE THE BEST THAT YOU CAN!
Dennis has always been in my top five NBA players due to his 100percent effort any time he was on the court! He seemed to be one of the only players who played for the game and for the fans. Watching this made me emotional too..Dennis Rodman, the realist.. Made me appreciate you more as a person more than a Basketball Hall of Famer..
Wow.. I actually watched this whole clipped
No editing... it’s shows pure emotion... I actually almost shed a tear myself listening to this dude talkin about not able to HUG his kids? I don’t think I can ever wrap my head around that
i still dont understand what he meant by not being able to hug his kids???
@@roproofficial4456 He can't hug his kids because he feels he is not worthy, he loves them but knows he hasn't been the best dad he could be and mentions that it hurts that he treats the people he loves the most in a way they don't deserve to be treated. He gets emotional even knowing that they do give consent but he can't bring himself to hug them since he thinks it's like lying to himself that he's the dad he wishes he had growing up
@@roproofficial4456 do some research on why it's important to have skin to skin contact with your child out the womb , I can't remember the article so you are just gonna have to look for it but studies show that if you have a baby and never hold it unless you are feeding them , and the child never gets a hug or some type of comfort that 9/10 the child will be emotionally deficient..they won't know how to love or like because it never happened to them ..they won't know how to hug or more so understand the need/concept of hugs ..they've never known such comfort so it's virtually impossible for them to give that comfort ...i hope I explained it in a way you understand . The article will explain it better I could only give like the jist of it lol ..its like when someone gets kidnapped and they are beaten and tortured for a couple years ..say when you find them that you try to hug them or hold their hand and they jump away, get scared or just plain refuse human contact for a couple days ..even though they had years before getting kidnapped , the years of never getting any comfort took a toll on their brains concept of comfort..the brain is ALWAYS learning and adjusting, molding to your experiences and actions ...he never got hugged as a kid or was told "I love you" so the whole concept is foreign to him , that's why he longs for it
@@lpfan23 👌🙏💛
It’s good to see him finally open up deep inside and be honest not only with all of us. But mostly for himself
Jackie thank you for allowing Dennis to bear what he needed to. I have seen in the interviews he has wanted to release the tears and the interviewer did not have the capacity to allow it. You did and it was a very healing for him to express it. Many can learn from Dennis open vulnerability and we can have more understanding of how Trauma can have such an impact on the way we love ourselves and show ourselves out in the world. Thank you Dennis, for being so courageous in sharing your Truth with the world.
Amazing interview. Rodman is a wonderful human being.
God bless you Mr. Rodman 💯 your bravery to be transparent will always be a beacon of inspiration 👏🇺🇸
Rodman could suit up today and still grab 10 rebounds in the league.
Not really. Not against lebron
Easy
@@jamesjohn9183 i like your sarcasm!
EASILY!!!
I love his honesty. A kind hearted human being who acknowledges where he falls short.
You can do it Dennis. Rooting for you. A real innocent and pure heart. So sad.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Dennis is and has been one of my favorite athletes ever.
Gayest athlete ever*
Josh Gen Gay and rich
For me, my man Dennis, wants some love from the very start but because of Basketball he found love. You started and hated as a villain but ended a hero to us. You deserve to be in HoF tbh. Athletes must look up to you. Thanks The Worm!
DR is badass, man. I miss 90s basketball, there’s nothing like it now🤭
90s were the best in many aspects.
the man that made me fell inlove with basketball, and made me realize that if you can't defeat them with shooting destroy them in the boards
Prove your worth
@Aaron Davis trust me you throw the bad boy pistons in today's game and they would still hold today's team to mid 80's. As long as they allow them to play D
he is my favorite player ever. i really cant dribble. cant shoot very well. but i can rebound like a motherfucker which always made me a top pick on the playground.
Board man gets paid.rebound just like a point
@@stingrey1571 Rodman was extremely quick. So in addition to rebounding, he offered great defense, and on offense, he could finish on the break and didn't miss putbacks around the basket.
He seem so genuine and his raw honesty makes him so likeable. I always liked DR.
I love you Dennis! The world is cruel, the internet brings out the worst in people, but stick to those close to you. They are usually few and far between, those who really care about you.
@I. Wynn Wynn Why should he?
I absolutely love Jackie.. She allows the interview to feel so organic and i truly appreciate her for that.. I'm interested in viewing all of her interviews.
You're my black brother from another mother... huh?
Or maybe ur a #8
The greatest rebounder of all time!!! Ty for the memories and passion for the game.
Dennis Rodman is truly a unique individual. Self made and his own man.
Gotta respect that.
You can't find a person in this world who is as real as Dennis Rodman.
Ever heard of Marshawn Lynch?
MIKE TYSON
Wow! This were an absolutely great interview!! Dennis Rodman you really opening up!!
It’s sad when you think about it. Dennis grew up practically without a parental figure. That’s tough! As a player, unquestionably, he probably was the hardest working basketball player to ever play in the NBA. He just needed direction and he didn’t have that growing up.
Wish I could hug him ❤️
Me too😢🤗😁😷
I had the unbelievable pleasure of actually meeting Dennis in Vegas in '11 and let me tell you the guy was cool and as down to earth as they come.
It's great that Michael and Scottie came to accept Dennis as a teammate (and hopefully as a person) considering how much they still hate Isiah and The Pistons 😆😆.
him and Mike Tyson
Dennis Rodman is one of my favorite players ever. My response when I saw this upload: "okay great"
This is how an interviewer treats an interviewee. Jackie is empathetic, thoughtful and allows Dennis to express himself without interjecting, impressive journalism.
I hope the best for this Man
Was he gay back in the day or was he just strange I mean I don't care I respect him anyway
Whenever i see dennis
It reminds me of dmx
Dennis is just all out
All heart guy , just to stayed alive with that type of heart and soul just pure amazing to me
He been thru a lot most of the guys i know with that heart died already including 2 pac
Dennis is one of the best rebounder off all time
The 30 for 30 was the best one I've seen.
It was outstanding
Need to catch it on replay, better than Fab 5 though?
@@eduardoantonionaranjo7972 Yeah, it was great. He went through a period where he was bigger than Jordan. I'd forgotten that. Madonna wanted him to have her baby. It's an eye opening 30 for 30. He was a shooting star for a time from a horrible beginning. He wears his heart on his sleeve and just wanted to be loved.
Such a wonderful interview!
I still remember when he joined the Bulls, Was going into HS and we Chicagoans were excited. He's a real genuine guy.
Best Rodman interview I’ve seen...and I’ve watched a LOT of them...good on you...thanks for posting ;-)
This changed my perception of him in a positive way. There's so many broken children walking around in adult bodies.
this….
Love you Dennis. Jackie, Thank you for handling this conversation with compassion, patience, and support. This conversation is a gift for all of us willing to listen. Truly listen.
Jackie is a great interviewer!
Dennis you are a rebounding legend! Good to see you express everything, be you and enjoy being you my dude
Dennis Rodman is my idol because he played the game with more passion then anybody !! I don’t care what happens outside the lines. Still got the Bulls Rodman jersey for like 17 years. It’s not mint either I wore that sh#@ a lot
@@phillipslife8716 Thank you brother. Im in the Air Force now, Im currently deployed and been deployed many times. I agree with you because had my father raised me, I would probably NOT be the man that I am now.
@@darkside5905 Thank you so much and remember to keep your eyes on the prize. I believe in God and believe that God has His hands on me. I mean no religious offense to you, please. Think about what you want to do in life and start preparing for that now. Time flies faster than you will know it. Take care of yourself and remember 2 things: NEVER forget where you came from and do unto others as you will have them do unto YOU. Treat people the way YOU want to be treated.
Jesus always loved u bro, god bless
Rodman is the man thank for this.
I love Dennis Rodman.
Aww I want to give that man a hug.
Dennis the worm Rodman ! best rebounder in the nba ! that was dope when he had the different hair colors 👍. sucks that he had a rough childhood ! Crazy how some of these celebrities had rough childhoods ! but came out to be millionaires cuz of there natural talent !!!
I like Dennis's honesty in searching for who he is. Like many of us we have to come to know deeply our essential goodness, the love that we are, and stop torturing ourselves.
What a True Tragedy that any human being had to endure such a childhood loss of empathy, natural affection or support. I see this like it’s an epidemic in this generation...self interest, lovers of me..myself..and I! May God Bless others like Mr. Rodman and I pray he’ll encourage others to be different than what childhood traumas he suffered. 🤔🙏🏽🔑💗🔥🕊💎🇺🇸
One thing is for sure you can't knock his honesty....way more that those who would be critical.
You can't judge people based on looks or past. Dennis is very successful and it's awesome to see him so down to earth and humble. Best defender and rebounder ever may not have been the biggest in size but had the biggest heart on the court for sure. Hope you do well Dennis love to see what your up to these days whenever you're not chilling with Kim Jong- Un
This is the first interview I see of Dennis Rodman that he really opens up and allows people to see deeper than the persona he puts out there.
A true legend. I love this man
Jackie is one of my favorite. Dennis you were one of my idols when it came to basketball. Keep going man! I hope one day I get to meet you. Man this is powerful.
One Of The Most Interesting People To Ever Walk The Earth
You know this is a great interview when you forget Jackie McMullan’s even there because of Rodman’s great storytelling.
I started to play basketball because I watched MJ, but what I was good at is rebounding that made DR my childhood hero!
Money and fame sometimes puts "band aids" on hidden wounds. Good luck to Dennis, I hope he finds peace and love.
I just love this dude! Felt like a pure misfit from the start and made his way in this world. Still not flawless and real to himself. So much respect for this guy! Big Ups DEFENSIVE GOAT!
Great interviewer and I’m a huge fan of Dennis Rodman. I pray he finds complete happiness and love. Believing he opens his heart to be loved. 💋❤️
Such a beautiful emotional honest and charismatic big man,, good job Denis give your kids the love that you didn't had
Despite all the bad reputation he had, I believe Dennis Rodman is a good human being.
Master J of course he’s a human person.. what else would he be? Lol 😂.
Bless him....like him much more now...he’s hurting.
The documentary really showed Dennis Rodman in a different light. I always thought he was a hellraiser and trouble maker, but he really has a warm heart. Just like Carmen Electra said - gentle giant.
Great interview from the best rebounder ever. Hated him with the Pistons for always beating up my Bulls, then loved him when he joined, lol. I respect him for always speaking his mind and telling it like it is. He deserves all the success he has, because he earned it from hard work.
Dennis, you are so sincere. You inspire me. Your sensitivity is one of the qualities a good father has. I was a fan in Chicago, and now I appreciate knowing you as a courageous human being.
Love how Dennis played the game man...grit, hustle, smart and love for the game. One of my favorite basketball players of all time
God bless you brother .. I was a fan of Utah jazz, but I will always have you in my heart ... Thank you for helping world peace. You are a star today, tomorrow and forever. I love you Dennis.
I now have the most respect for this man! This video has made me feel not so alone. Thank you Dennis!
Dennis you are a gentle soul inside of a very powerful body. I have been soul searching and working very heard to heal myself for many, many years . We all have a lot to heal. I was like your mother and worked 3 jobs and was not able to be there physically for my sons and on my only day off I was too tired. But everything I did was because I loved my sons. You were and are loved. I saw the Oprah interview and you got emotional when you talked about your son. YOU ARE A GREAT FATHER AND YOU HAVE DONE THE BEST THAT YOU CAN!
I can listen to him talk about his life all day. HUGS Legend!!!
This of us that grew up with you were awestruck with your work ethic, talent and drive to compete. Incredibly gifted. God Bless you.
Dennis Rodman said quote in his HOF speech "I never played the game for the money!" He went onto say "I did it cause I loved the game!"
Rebounding is about heart and desire, no one had more than DR, no one 💪
Dennis has always been in my top five NBA players due to his 100percent effort any time he was on the court! He seemed to be one of the only players who played for the game and for the fans. He's always talked about people spending their hard money to watch the game and he wanted them to get their money's worth. I hope he's aware that his passion for the game, his emotion, and his love for people is greatly appreciated by his fans.
Dennis we love you you are the best rebounder in the nba .as well as a person .dad. friend. You are a legend my brother
Definitely my favorite player of all time. I feel bad for him since he has had a terrible childhood but he genuinely seems like a good guy
very emotional ...thank u ...great interview
My man was 5’6 in high school and now 6’8 🐐 smh I’m 5’6 and 16 that’s not happening to me smh
The real Mvp let that growth spurt hit meeee
Aaron Davis so I’m gonna be short because my mom is 5’1 and my dad is 5’6 also but they’re the shortest i their families
The real Mvp stop being defeated. God has nothing but the best for you but you need to believe.

The real Mvp I was probably between 5-7-5’9 at 15/16 and grew to 6’3 the same summer, I’m a little taller now but don’t count it out. Could happen.
