    So I can have the Hardwiring done and still have the parking mode etc disabled if I don't want it for certain scenarios. I thought it was going to be always ON. Another benefit of HW is that the wiring is neat and won't need to use the 12v socket. Thanks for this video.

    I am using 70mai 500s dashcam. Please clarify after installing the hardwire kit, the 12v socket will not be used to power the dashcams, right ? It basically will use the car battery's power through the type C cable of adaptor connected to the dashcam?

    Hi Saw your videos on the A810. I like that it has Starvis 2 sensor, but what I'm concerned is the lithium ion battery instead of super capacitor. I already have a li-ion dashcam with startup failure due to battery (heat issues). The only one in this family is DDPai Z50, but it is not the newest sensor. What would you suggest? Also, do you have any recommendations on the WolfBox 3 channel dashcams like i07? Seen people on team-bhp speaking highly of it. It has starvis 1 and supercapacitor

    • @traveltechyoutube
      @traveltechyoutube  Год назад

      Hi. If you are concerned about battery, then an alternative with super capacitor would be VIOFO A139PRO. I have used it personally and its an excellent dashcamera. You can check it out with this link: amzn.to/3ES5ozb
      Although I must say, its a rare case as with yours where dashcam doesn't function normally due to battery issue. You do get 1 year warranty with A810 as with A139Pro, hence any battery issue within that time span shouldn't be cause for worry as you can get it replaced.
      I haven't yet tried Wolfbox cameras personally, hence can't really give an opinion.
      Lastly, I would recommend you buy a camera with Starvis 2 sensor, doesn't matter which brand/company. Look for the features you want in your dashcam, like parking mode, or dual channel, or 60fps framerate etc. Choose the one with most features you require.

    • @jothishj8250
      @jothishj8250 Год назад

      @@traveltechyoutube Thanks a lot for your reply. Viofo has excellent dashcams but they have increased the prices over the years and the A139 PRO is way over my budget for a 2ch.
      My dashcam is over 3 years old now when it started having battery low/overheat issues when driving in the sun or keeping parked in the open. Agree that the 1 year warranty would cover replacements, but bit concerned about life of it after that. My prime requirements are 2ch, low light performance, super cap if available, 5ghz wifi etc. 60fps if present would be an added bonus. I will keep exploring. I think I would go with a810 mostly. Hii, I have Tata Altroz DCA. I have recently done the hardwiring in fusebox, similar way as shown in the video. Some people say, it voids warranty, some say it doesnot. What is the actual thing. Does it really void warranty of the car?

    • @traveltechyoutube
      @traveltechyoutube  Год назад

      Hardwiring doesn't void the warranty of the car. BUT, some dealerships do not recommend this and say that it voids the warranty. This is because of standard company policy where the company doesn't want to be held liable to any damage to the electrical circuit (if there ever is) and doesn't wish to take up corrective actions free of cost. This is obvious because which company will ever like to replace parts and accessories for free? Even if you and me had a company, we would say the same to our customers. So in short, technically no warranty is void, but in terms of company policy and principles, it does.
      So the solution to this problem is to remove the hardwiring kit just before giving your car for service or before attempting to claim any warranty, at the company's service centre. If you have replaced back the fuses to their proper slots, no one in the world can recognize that the car was hardwired previously. Hence any warranty claim at such instance will be honored by the company and you wont have a thing to worry about. Once the car is back from service, install the hardwiring back again and you are good to go until the next service (generally a year later).

      Dashcams need a specific voltage to activate parking monitoring. If your powerbank supplies a different one, the dashcam will continue to record normally and not in Timelapse mode. So you need to check this with your powerbank.

      Normally when the engine is on and dashcam is connected. Timelapse mode when the engine is off and dashcam is in parking monitoring mode. This records at lesser frames per second and creates a 1min video for every 30minutes approx. This saves space on memory card and can record upto longer duration.
      Power banks are susceptible to heat. So if kept in car when the car is in direct sunlight or the the cabin is hot, may lead to burn out.

    • @traveltechyoutube
      @traveltechyoutube  Год назад +2

      Hello Shashank.
      Good question. Hardwire kit and OBD2 hardwire kit are two different ways to enable parking monitoring in your dashcam.
      In regular hardwiring kit, you will get a hardwiring set which includes fusetaps, which you have to connect to the fuse box of your car, so that the dashcamera gets power even after your car turns off. I have made detailed videos on this if you need it.
      In OBD2 hardwire kit, you dont get any fusetaps and you dont have to connect to the fuse box of the car. You have to instead connect to the OBD2 port of your car(All modern cars have OBD2 port in them below dashboard). The dashcamera then draws power from the obd2 port once the car is turned off.
      In terms of convenience, obd2 kit is very easy to use and has only 1-2 steps for installation. Regular hardwiring kit has lots of steps and might be difficult for someone who is doing it for the first time.
      Regarding your query about battery drain, yes both obd2 kit and regular Hardwire kit use battery power to run the dashcam when car is turned off. But, in both cases, you have a battery protection feature within the app settings of the dashcamera which you have to enable before using parking mode. This feature cuts off the battery power to the dashcam once it reaches a minimum threshold voltage like 11.8 volts or 12V of battery (whichever you have selected) and hence keeps the battery from draining out completely.
      Here is the purchase link for regular hardwire kit for 70mai A810. Also providing link for A810 dashcamera.

    Hi bro. Your vdeo give me some ideas of installing hardwire. I want to install in my car. Any possiblity the warranty void?

    • @traveltechyoutube
      @traveltechyoutube  Год назад +1

      Yes you can disable it via menu as well. Yiu have to access the settings of the dashcam, search for parking mode options and disable the timelpase mode/collision detection mode. That will disable the parking mode.

    Hello bro. New sub here.
    Will the time lapse mode work as a Loop video? I mean, if I leave my vehicle parked for days and the memory gets full, will it just automatically over write the oldest footage with the new one by itself?
    And will it be okay to just leave the vehicle parked for like 5 days, will the time lapse continue recording?

    • @traveltechyoutube
      @traveltechyoutube  4 месяца назад +2

      Hello
      Thanks for the sub.
      Hardwire kits (most) have a battery protection feature wherin if the voltage of the battery falls below certain pre set level (generally 12v or 11.8v), the hardwire kit automatically turns off power to the dashcam to save battery. This enables that you can start your car the next morning.
      Regarding your query if the loop recording will delete the oldest files and write new ones, yes it will. But parking mode recordings take very less space per file size and will (practically) never run out of space to reach a point to delete the oldest files.
      But in any case parking monitoring won't last upto 5 days in any car, as the battery voltage will fall below the threshold level within 12-18 hours of parking. You have to restart your car and charge the battery in order to continue recording for the next 12 hours atleast.
      So installing hardwire kit and leaving the car for weeks doesn't mean the dashcam will stay on and recording for that time. It will turn off within 12-18 hours after parking the car as soon as the battery voltage comes down.

Though I am very sceptical in hardwiring it since I do not like to touch my fuse box. I don't know how much it's safe to disturb the fuse box and whether it voids my warranty or not. Please clarify this. Also can we use 70mai 810 with ddpai USB c obd connector enabling all the features? If yes then this will be my best option. Please guide.

      Coming to your query, ues 70mai A810 is a good choice. But no the ddpai obd2 kit won't work with it. The 70mai obd2 kit will be released soon in about a month or two(hopefully), you can then purchase it. For now I recommend that you buy just the camera, install it in your car, start using it and get a hang of things. Once you feel you are confident about it and ready to step in further you can plan for OBD2 parking kit. No need to rush everything together.

    Motion detection works by image captured from camera capturing some changes. Impact sensor works through accelerometer. I have observed that if motion detection sensitivity is set as high, it will keep recording all the time as it detects tree leaves movement as suspicious activity 🤣

      Correct. But in the promotional material 70mai says it detects suspicious person/activity near the car and records it. The exact way this works is not mentioned anywhere. But overall I think the motion detection mode is a hit and miss.
