8:52 the down weighs the same the synthetic because there is s point of diminishing returns due to the baffles. Climasheild apex doesn’t require baffles, so there is a lot more material in the down bag. As the bags get warmer with more down the weight advantage increases.
I’ve used an EE enigma in a long/wide for years and love it. It’s a 20 degree and I’ve slept down to 0 very comfortably with my clothes and puffy layers on. Pad choice is most important in my opinion
This video has cemented my decision in making what I have work. Pro tip: utilise straps on your quilt to prevent drafts lol. I will be purchasing some puffy layers and im ready for my next winter hunt. Thanks again for a great vid mate
Excellent points. Ultra-light backpacking is making its way into the solo hunter. From sleeping systems to pack systems to ultralight clothing to withstand abuse of the terrain. Backs with loadout are 1 to 3 lbs lighter w/o weight load capacity ability. Boots are getting lighter for trekking long distances. Firearms and bow equipment also going lighter. Once again, you are exposing the changes and ways of hunting in the world of technology to the hunting world. Ignore the ignorance of some. 👍😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

The 10 minute bitchy me comes out in the morning when I have to get out of my bag. Glad I’m not the only one lol. Great video Jay!

Another great detailed video. One thing I was surprised by was the low R value of your sleep pad, which can greatly affect how warm you sleep.
That’s my three season pad. I have an Exped with an R value of 7 I use for late season.
