secret CCTV footage recording setup

How to setup secret CCTV recordings to serve as a back up against the theft of a DVR.
With this setup, if the DVR is stolen, there will still be a recording that can be relied on for reference.
In this setup, i have used 4 AHD cameras connected to a DVR and to a monitoring screen. The initial recordings are done on the DVR and another recording has been setup else where on a computer that is placed away from the CCTV Setup.

Thanks for the informative content. I have a question. Won't the footage take up all available hard drive space on my PC though? Is it possible to limit how much space it takes on my hard drive such as by assigning it a drive partition on which it can record and overwrite once full?

You can change the video recording format from HD to SD so that it takes less recording drive space. But doing so may affect the video recording quality though.
Creating a partition is good, it would work perfectly. You can just choose the recording path to the partition.

Will this work with a Hikvision Dvr as well? If yes, what VMS can I use? Are you able to click on all the cameras on the VMS to see each of the camera recordings? Should the computer always stay on for it to record? Sorry for the many questions. Thanks in advance.

Yes, this works for hikvision.
You would have to use ivms, you can get from the website of hikvision.
You will see recordings for each camera recorded separately.
Yes, the computer must remain on to have it record the videos, so you may leave just the system unit on whiles you can turn off the monitor, that's for desktop computers.

@10G BUSINESS GLOBAL VENTURES LTD I will recommend getting a vms from your dvr manufacturer, but if not, once your dvr is onvif compliant, it should work on that of Jovision
