As a starting drummer who just got their first kit, and is going for Police songs first, seeing this clean, perfect cover was a joy. LOVED this alot. Easy sub. 🤙🤙

I could imagine the mind “ohmygerrd I’m doing it!!! Shudup focus!!! But I’m actually doing itt!!!!”
The whole time trying not to get overwhelmed by the fact you are doing exactly what you are doing 🐙🫡 superb cover man, excellent control over the body and mind 🤙

This is very true. Focus leads to good playing. Good playing leads to excitement. Excitement leads to lack of focus and one of the takes that did not make it to the channel haha

I know this is one of the most difficult songs to play drums on ever even it seems to be not so...but it sounded good...

Very cool! Saw this come up in a list of videos to watch after listening to an police song. So what made you go from artists like Slipknot and others in your early videos to Police? More complicated drumming to learn from? Or do you still drum the others in between these filming sessions?

When I got this accoustic set and recorded myself, it didn't sound good. Inconsistent velocities and poor articulation mostly. Stuff that can't be practiced on an ekit. Stewart gets almost unlimited sounds out of his hi hat. A sample pack is limited. Since I only use one mic, all of the "mixing" is totally on me. Can't 'bring up the snare or kick' in post. I have to hit it at correct volume. I figured playing Stewart was the best way to practice because if I sound bad at all, me, and everyone else will tell instantly because Stewart sounds SO GOOD.
At this point, I feel like I've learned my lessons and want to apply them to other styles so Police covers will not be the main focus going forward. I have some requests to do some more so I will cover him again at some point!

@@ParrDrummer Have you looked into other drummers like Hal Blaine (Wrecking Crew, Ronettes - Be My Baby is a good example of his work but many others exist) or Carmine Appice (Rod Stewart - Do Ya Think I'm Sexy) to broaden your horizons? Ronettes song would give you more "classic" rock and roll/pop drumming and the Rod Stewart one some Disco drumming. There is a documentary about the wrecking crew out there which has Hal talking about his drumming or just look him up on youtube probably. Carmine has drummed for other bands also, not just disco related
