    Cory and Dean are back in the fish room and they’re putting the Aquarium Co-Op Easy LED light to the test. In addition to being super bright for growing plants, extra long power cord and low price point, it’s also super durable and highly water resistant. But is it really durable enough to withstand being tossed across the room, submerged underwater, or even Dean standing on top of it? Please do not try this at home!

    Most of my current budget lights still work, so I've only upgraded one tank to the ACO light so far. That's the ONLY tank I have where I dont battle algae! Same water, similar fish and plant stocking; the light is the only difference. I'm looking forward to the day when my current budget lights fail so I can get more of these.

    • @heaven7360
      @heaven7360 2 месяца назад

      Did you need more light for your tank plants? Was that the main factor?

    • @sarahwoodring5587
      @sarahwoodring5587 2 месяца назад +1

      @heaven7360 I think I actually needed less light. I run the ACO light on 30% for a total of 6hrs and it seems to have made a huge difference.

    • @heaven7360
      @heaven7360 2 месяца назад

      @@sarahwoodring5587 glad to hear it! I get so confused by the science of growing plants....i.e. brightness of the light can do conflicting things....but for certain algae...with too much. This is what I read that led me to question other ways bright lights affect plants;
      "This is because your plants grow quicker under higher lighting intensity, which increases the absorption of CO2 and nutrients. Too much light without the required fertilization and CO2 addition will almost certainly result in poor plant growth and algae!"
      I was having plants either dying or struggling to grow and my lights were pretty high. So I came across this information in my search for information. For certain too much light can cause algae. Then if you have a lot of light one can also increase ferts and/or CO2.....and then I guess the plants grow more and use up more nutrients and thus algae dies out.
      I'm now using passive CO2 diffusion to boost my plant growth (it won't give super growth) as my lights seem low and yet I have algae. My plants are not growing enough.

    Most issues with LED lights are actually in the LED driver. The LED driver can die and kill the entire light. I'd like to look at the LED driver that they use and see if its quality. A lot of LED drivers are super cheap and don't last that long when used in a 24/7 fashion.

    if I had the disposable money, I'd be into them. I agree, there is nothing better. however at 14 tanks, I've gotten by "splurging" for 3 nicrew (for a 24" long 20g, 36" long 70g and a 4' long 90g) and the rest are DIY. The 20g's nicrew died a month after the 1 yr warranty (leaving me uncomfortable about the other two that I got later), and I had to "fix" it by bypassing the timer and dimmer controls, now it's a max light on an external timer. far from ideal. very nice to see such quality and pride in workmanship in this video... big thumbs up to Acquarium Co-op!

    So constructive criticism. Rory is obviously very passionate about this light as its been talked about in lives and all this stuff but let's be COMPLETELY honest here... I have been keeping fish since February 1999 and had moved like 6 times both cross country and cross state. In all that time I have never dropped a single light in the water, on the ground, kicked it, never had them fall into the tank and even had $1200 light x 2 back in the day (bought used with 300 gal fish tank). I do not know how clumsy you have to be to drop it and drive over it and let it fall into water... clearly after like 70 fishtanks now it has not happened yet. And so I am a little concerned.... when did all the dropping become a lingering epidemic for there to be such a huge emphasis on durability of the light? On a different note... it seems somewhat sacriligious to spend $80 on a light to then dim it to 10,20,30%. Why not buy a weaker and cheaper light and run it at 100% if all you plan to do is dim the uber bright light? I watched enough of Bentley Pascoe's videos pondering this very thing in which he is talking about dimming his lights. I just would no thave the heart to run lights in anything less than 100% crank. My hygger $70 lights (got 8 of them) operate at whatever their daily setting is... and when I was setting them up they go through full cycle of 0-20-40-60-80-100-80-60-40-20-0 thing to simulate the day light. For everything else there is master card and durable co-op light I guess. Watching this video as I am unpacking my order #4 from co-op but I think jury may still be out on the emphasis on durability vs what typically people buy these things for.

      Different products for different buyers. Kids can knock lights, so can pets or employees. When you're running 200 lights at any one time, accidents happen. You also have people who don't run tops and let their air bubbles hit it 24/7 causing water damage.
      Then you have people who don't know how much light they need. Buying 1 light that can adjust as they learn will help. Hobbyists often time buy something cheap, then may need to upgrade, due to wanting higher light plants, or a bigger tank etc.
      Then you have people who want to buy once, and have a reliable warranty. You have some that are required to have certifications because the tank is in their work place, or their insurance requires it.
      At the end of the day, buy the light you want. I've run all types over the last 20 years. CFL bulbs are the most efficient and cheapest I've ever seen, but not very water resistant. Also doesn't look that great.

    Why make a long video of basically just adventerising a product. It was basically a long commercial with commentary. Are the lights not selling is that why a video like this was made with little content to benefit the fish community?

      Because Aquarium Co-Op exists as a business. The youtube channel was born to advertise our company. The light is selling well. Retail partner stores wanted more content to be able to educate their staff, their customers etc. It also helps us sell even more.
