- Today's Sophisticated Saturday is a clean & freezer meal prep with me. With the freezer meals I'm sharing today I have some great ideas for individual portion freezer meal prep that saves us when we just need a portion or two of a home cooked meal! Of course along with the cooking I am getting lots of other things done like an at home gel mani, laundry and cleaning! I hope you are inspired to have an ultra productive weekend and get it all done!
xoxo Sophie

Great job and great use of the “extra” food without letting things go to waste. A big ole hug to the hubby for getting groceries for you! These tools that you use will help you so much in your “mommy life” because you make use of down time to keep your busy time from being overwhelming. I wish I had this skill when mine were little, but I have just developed my “Sophie-ism” within the past decade.
Thank you so much 😊 Awww thanks, I hope these types of things will serve me in the near future when things get just a bit busier.... haha!!
Sophisticated Saturdays are my favorite! 🥳💗
Mine too!
When you feel tired, take a break! The changes in your body from pregnancy can poop you out! Take care, Sophie!!
You are right! I need to start making some adjustments and remembering that my body is going through a lot!
To use up the carrots, you can cut them in your favorite size or shape and blanch them. Put them on a cookie sheet (or a flat pan that fits in your freezer) in a single layer until frozen. Then take them out and store in a freezer bag or container. We you need them, thaw and cook as you wish.
Another great way to use the freezer!! Thanks Angela!
I love my Souper cubes. They help with meal prep so much
Those Souper Cubes are great! I could use them to freeze home-made chili!
Oh yes!
When I make Shepard’s pie I add some grated white cheddar to the mashed potatoes to make it extra yummy 😁
WOW! I need to do that next time or sneak some on top when I reheat 😊
These frozen meals are going to come in SO handy especially when baby is born🥰 i dont really prep frozen meals but life is getting so busy here these days and I'm finding it to be such a drag to come up with meals every single day so I'm going to work on some freezer meals as well :) those cubes look so cool!
I hope so!! I feel the same way sometimes, so having these meals are SOOO handy. Especially now with just two of us, they save us a lot of money when its just me or I go out to dinner with friends and pop out a "cube" for Jim and heat him up a homemade meal and head out!
Safety tip: when pouring off hot/boiling water, turn on the cold water & let it run in the sink. It will greatly reduce the chance of getting a steam burn.
Thanks for the tip!
Your videos just popped up in my suggestions and I’m really enjoying all the tips.
Awesome! Thank you!
I made some carrot muffins with a cream cheese center. They were good!
WOW Kellie!! That sounds like my kind of muffin!
Hey Sophie, another great video! As always loved all the recipes. I definitely want those super cubes. I had to laugh! Your sweet husband.❤ it looks like you have enough carrots to supply the population of Denver for a week.
You look fabulous by the way. I can't wait to see you with a tummy. You are going to look adorable. Get some rest and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Hahah right, he is so nice to go run errands but boy did he get a lot of carrots and potatoes!! Thank you so much Linda, the tummy is definitely starting to happen a bit now!
I did this last week.I make individual freezer portions about once a month. It makes life sooooo easy between mom life and work life. This will come in soo handy when little man arrives. Try to make months worth your last month of pregnancy because those first few weeks once he arrives is a BIG adjustment period. To have a meal in the freezer that you can just pull out ,is so helpful. XOXO
You're right! That is such great advice! My brother and sister in law are about to have twins and I am hoping to make some homemade freezer meals and drop them off for them to make the adjustment easier so they don't have to think about dinner!
@@SophisticatedOrganization YES! they will appreciate it so much!
I love getting my Sunday chore motivation from your channel 👐💓
I'm so glad! 😊
Thanks Sophie
Thanks for watching!
I like to double my recipe and freeze half. I date every thing so that I use it up before it goes bad. We have a summer camp we go to and I use these freezer meals for there. It works out beautiful. I freeze cupcakes and cookies too. I never had shepherds pie as a child but my husbands family ate it and my husband loves it so of course I learned how to make it. Happy husband happy life. 😁
Hi Jean, I love that strategy! No real extra work except cooking in larger batches! I need to do that more often with baked goods, that way we can sneak a treat out of the freezer if we want haha!
Hey Sophie I for sure got alot done on Saturday. Remember to rest don't tire yourself out you did alot.❤️
So happy to hear that!! You're right, this weekend I actually think I did a bit too much this saturday and spent the rest of the day and sunday on the couch!!
Another great video. I make shepherds pie! My layers are ground beef, corn and potatoes. I've also made it with ground beef, green beans and sweet potato! Listen to your body...rest when you feel tired.
Ooo the green beans and sweet potato combo sounds delicious! I'm feeling that right now! Tried to film another video today and am taking a longggg break on the couch in the middle haha
Use tomato paste in a tube. Use what you need and no waste or having a 1/2 used can in the fridge.
You're so right, it is nice how there is less waste that way!
Can you do a video on organizing your crafts? Like how do you store stickers and little small office supplies? Xoxo 💓
Great idea!! I have some of this covered in my office organizing videos but I can work on a more craft specific one!
I know it has been a while since you did this video, but I'm loving the nail color and I also use Gelish polish and wondered what color your nails are here? Thank you!
Try mashing mashed potatoes in an instantpot instead. It’s usually 3/4cup water and cook for 9 minutes and mash right in the pot. Works great every time for me.
100% doing that next time!
I never had shepard’s pie and like your recipe. I might try to make that one day. I love those cubes.
Hope you enjoy 💗
Loved the recipes you cooked and froze. I do cooking and freezing for another time. It saves time when your in a hurry.
Thank you! You are so right!
Next time you have carrots and potatoes, you should consider making Zharkoye. It’s a Russian stew. :)
Another video! Yea! How are you feeling? And I did not have shepherds pie as a kid but I make it now as it is something gluten free I can feed the family
Thank you!! Feeling great today!! Most of the first trimester symptoms seem to have faded 😊
I really like the video! I need to start doing those freeze meals! Congrats for the pregnancy!!
Thank you!! 😊
I am so happy I found your channel! My husband even likes watching your videos. I ordered a set of the souper cubes and cannot wait to use them. I'm probably overthinking this, but are there recipes specifically for these, or do you just make a bigger family sized recipe and fill the cubes? Thank you!! And congratulations to you and your husband!
That makes me so happy that even your husband enjoys!! You will love them! You can use them for ANYTHING, get creative. I find their website and instagram help me think of new ideas and recipes, but feel free to just use them to freeze leftovers, meals when you make a double batch, or other freezer favorites. Another really nice thing is that you can bake in them too!
Is it a shepherd pie if it’s not lamb? 😉 in the U.K. we have a cottage pie too which is basically the same but instead of lamb it’s beef. Not sure what a turkey version would be called. Both cottage and shepherds were staples in our homes growing up.
Haha very good question.... 🙄!! I'm sure there has to be a name for the turkey version out there!
Definitely listen to your body. You are now living for 2 and you both are getting used to each other and the different changes that comes with that. Entering my 3rd trimester I'm even more drained than 1st and 2nd trimester. I never had that burst of energy people talk about in the 2nd
You're right, I need to be better about that! I'm kind of with you so far, I'm still near the beginning of the second trimester but still feeling pretty tired! Make sure you take it easy too especially since you are so close!! 😊😍
I think shepherd’s pie is made with lamb, and cottage pie is made with beef. What do you call it when you make it with turkey?
I think you are right! That's a really great question... I'm not sure!
Hi there friend! I just love your videos! I am totally ordering the super cubes! Congratulations on baby again! I do have a question…where did you get the tops of your spice jars? 🥰❤️👶🏻
Thank you so much! You will love them! Funny story I really liked the tops of the target brand spice jars (they are now black) so when I ordered a set of glass spice jars off amazon I preferred the lids from the cheap plastic spice bottles and used those!
Wo hast du diese mehrteilige silikonformen zum einfrieren her?
I love Sophisticated Saturday videos! One question - where did you get the top you are wearing in this video? It’s really cute!
Thank you!! It's from a boutique in Denver and I got it probably 9 or 10 years ago!! 🙈
Hi Sophie, did you bake the lasagnas in your super cubes ? If not, how do you go about it transferring the lasagna without making a huge mess ?
You can bake them in the souper cubes or transfer them! I ususally take them out because I transfer my souper cubes food to other freezer bags so I can. use the souper cubes again. There is NO mess when I pop them out because they are frozen solid. I just put them in a small oven safe dish and its really simple!
The souper cubes look cool! Do you use them often?
They are awesome! I do! Sometimes when I just have a bit extra of something I will use them, when I cook in larger quantities, and like this - sometimes just to make freezer meals! I freeze things like homemade hummus and nut butters in the smaller size all the time
I ordered the souper cubes and Want to make sure I understood this. The lasagna you had in the super cubes, you had already cooked it in a pan and then just divided it and froze it in the super cubes?
You are going to love them!! You can do frozen lasagna a few different ways but I have mine uncooked and then cook after I take it out of the freezer. So I basically just created mini lasagnas as if I were about to bake them and right before you would bake, stick them in the freezer instead!
Just a suggestion: You should never leave food in open metal cans, and put in the refrigerator. The food can sometimes take on a metallic taste. It would be better to freeze the left over tomato sauce, tomato paste etc.in the freezer.
Thanks for the tip!
What is the name of the website for the freezer meals that you use?
On the Souper Cubes website!
Turkey in shepherd's pie 😱 *screams in British*
HAHAHA 🙈
You could always cut up the carrots and freeze them.
Great idea!!
Carrot cake, carrot raisin salad, potato salad…….. ;-)
Now you have me craving carrot cake and potato salad! Those are great solutions too!!
How am I just finding your channel?
So happy to have you here!
