2019 Nishikori Fun Fact: has reached all 3 GS QFs where he lost to:

    -Federer at WB

Would it make any difference whether he meets them in the QF or F stage? I just don't think Nishikori can hang with the big 3 in slams. He lacks the serve. He's constantly under pressure. The only time he's beaten any of the big 3 in a slam was at the 2014 U.S Open.

During the 2nd and 3rd set, Fed always took agressive 2nd serve return so Kei was pressured on his 1st serve. Everyone knows that serving is one of Kei's weaknesses, but taking this tactic against Kei proves that Fed is a true mastermind.

It felt like Federer was devastated after losing the first set and decided to give nishikori a lesson. Federer was animalistic after that first set just pure power hitting from him.

If roger is gonna play with this forehand he has little chance of beating rafa. His swing is different, putting a lot of topspin not like he used to. This makes it less explosive. Hope he hits it flat.

I think Federer played a very good match here, but I think he was at a time bit too aggressive on returns, this can work for him or work against him, basically, he gave his opponent very little rhythm, the play was largely determined by how Federer would like to play. Federer varied his play a lot against Nishikori, he used all the shots he had against Nishikori. Give credit to Nishikori he did a great job in trying, he actually gave Federer something different to look at in this match, it is probably his best grass court match he played. Overall Kei is a counter-punching player he likes the shots to come at him at a certain speed, height and depth, Federer is not giving him that sort of steady rhythm and Kei had to play out of his comfort zone.
