Hey Jack! thanks for the review! for all those watching, the Impact Gravity distributor has a groove on the side of the blade - for the impact motion to work, you need to make sure the screw is sitting within that groove, but not completely touching it ( unless you want it to use it as a "set" level distributor) we will be running some BLACK FRIDAY sales soon! dont miss out as stock availability is low :)
@@pesado58.5 Thank you very much for explaining and for sending us this tamper and leveler. Great tools to have! I put the note in the description and recorded a follow up short: ruclips.net/user/shortsd73AlL42GUM?si=haXDqFS7r0qBuS6q
I have the older wood handle mhw-3bomber calibrated tamper. I tried it normal and with the clicking spring removed to make it like the Pasado. I could not taste or notice any difference in the shots. I think tamper style is more personal preference between the 2 spring options. I did grind my MHW-3BOMBER tamper grooves off the bottom and then mirror polish it. I have to say that was a big upgrade with less mess than the ripples
@@davidjaniszewski6653 after our complaints MHW started to produce flat based tampers as well. I like my Impact tamper from them but this Pesado looks much better. The end result is similar as you said.
Thanks for the review. The first that I know of. It was what I needed before I could be confident making a decision and I’ve ordered the tamper. I’ll stick with my WDT instead of the leveller though. Looking forward to my new tamper 🎉
@@glen.moralee thx for watching and please let us know how you like it. I will be playing with that distributor for a bit longer- maybe I missed something here.
I like the tamper. It is similar to the Norco spring tamper, but the Pesado one with the ‘open’ levelling arms won’t get coffee trapped between the top of the tamper and the levelling plate. Which is what happens with the Norco one and is a pain. I prefer this type of spring tamper to the impact type. You can still get consistency each time if you push down until the spring compresses fully.
Sorry I meant to say Normcore. Norco is a mountain bike brand! I have just watched Hoon’s video on the distributor. You may want to check it out. He explains how to set it up so you don’t get the indentations.
I have the distribution tool, after several revolutions there is no imprint and the coffee is pretty well packed already. I have a force tamper so sticking with that. I use my regular Pesdao 58.5 for one final tamp but really not necessary. I do get extremely consistent pull times though.
@@sf2189 thx for sharing. No matter how many times I try it, there is always a small imprint there and when I look at the puck after the extraction, there is often an indent in the middle.
Jack off topic but wanted to say that after polishing the insides of my cheap blind shaker it starting working as advertised. Ya, the best leveler is your pinky finger :-) Tamper looks interesting. Plastic is a turn off :-/ Douglas designed the top of the tamper...LOLOL The most common shape?
