I remember in Highschool they showed us a documentary called "Through a Blue Lens" it scared me of the East Side, but now being 28, I work graveyard shifts and service locations along East Hastings and the Alleyways that occupy them, sometimes. Its for sure a big eyesore but honestly these down and outs are friendly and keep to themselves. Its sad to see for sure. If I have an extra drink or some food I'll give it to them.
I too know that documentary "Through The Blue Lens" This man's films are another version of that film, and he is providing a platform for the reality of what exists still today, I hope he knows how much he is needed and the impact he will have on so many lives. English Bay, Stanley Park, North Van, West Van all the way through Coquitlam, New West and Beyond. Don't be fooled by this channel....Only walks through the worst part in the whole province. Imagine if you only showed Parksville in Ontario? Not a fair representation.
