    Interesting video, I entered Canada via YVR and managed to clear both immigration and customs without really realising it. I did my customs declaration using the ArriveCanada app before boarding at LGW. Used one of the pre cleared express lane machines, showed the printout twice and was out of the airport within minutes.

      Thanks for watching. I travelled from USA mostly during fall and winter and typically took about 30 mins to clear customs/immigration once I arrived at the immigration area. In summer however it can be longer due to more travelers and also depending on your immigration/visa status. If you have a connecting flight, I’d say you should have about 2-2.5 hrs between landing to checking in and boarding your connecting flight. Hope this helps

    Very informative video. . I got seperate booking coming from HK my arrival in YVR is 20:30, I'm thinking about getting the 23:15 flight going back to Toronto, is it possible to catch up the 23:15 flight for that span of time to process and everything?

    • @AirportBunny2023
      @AirportBunny2023  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching. Yes almost 3 hours should be enough. Most of the time when I traveled from US to YVR, I booked separate domestic flight as there were more choices and it took may be 2 hrs max to clear immigration/customs, claim baggage, go to domestic terminal, check in for the next flight and clear security. As long as I had at least 2 hours, I was not too worried. Hope this helps.

    I booked a flight from Seattle to Calgary with a layover at Vancouver airport. Since both of my flights are with Air Canada, do I need to recheck my baggage at Vancouver airport, or will it be automatically transferred to my connecting flight?

    • @AirportBunny2023
      @AirportBunny2023  6 месяцев назад

      Hi, Thanks for watching the video. As far as I know, you need to go through immigration/customs, exit and check in for your Calgary flight at the Domestic terminal but you shouldn’t have to claim baggage and re-check for Air Canada to Air Canada connections but please confirm with Air Canada. Thanks.

    I have a quick question, my parents are travelling from Kochi(india)-Singapore-Vancouver-Calgary. Do you know if they need to clear customs in Vancouver and claim baggages and re-check into connecting flight to Calgary? Or does it all depends at Kochi airport officials on whether they check in the baggage to final destination ? Can you advise please? Is there anyway to check this?

    • @AirportBunny2023

      Hello. Please check yvr.ca website for connection map/information. (Passengers - Navigate YVR - Terminal maps - Connections map International arrivals). Once passengers arrive on level 4, they can use Canada connections facility at Level 4 to go through Canada Immigration/Customs and directly go to departure level 3 gates A, B or C and might not have to claim baggage. Please note that yvr.ca says this is for participating airlines only and if the Immigration/Customs facility on level 4 is open (it is closed on early morning and evenings) otherwise passengers need to go to main immigration/customs/baggage area on level 2. So it advises to check with your airlines if you need to pick up your bags, re-check and go through security. There is conflicting information about this. Air Canada says you don't need to claim your baggage whereas few other International airlines say, you need to claim your baggage so it depends on your airlines and what airlines you connect to in Vancouver. In any case, I would suggest to be prepared to claim baggage and usually before landing, the airlines would announce the immigration/customs procedure and what passengers are expected to do. If you have a relative or someone to help in Vancouver, it might be easy to guide them once they come out of customs just in case they need to claim baggage and re-check in to the connecting domestic flight. Hope it helps and all the best to your parents.

      Hi, thanks for watching. During the last minute of the video, you can see me taking the stairs to go to the upper level where the domestic, US and international departures are. You can see “All departures” sign at the bottom of the stairs. You’ll go to upper level for baggage check and security. I once took a flight to Nanaimo Vancouver island from gate C32 I think.

      Please also watch above video of Walking tour of Vancouver Airport that shows most of the domestic gates A,B, C and also US departure E gates. I was coming back from Fort St. John, arrived at A12 gate and walked all the way to E gates while taking video along the way. When you clear security depending on A, B or C gate based on your flight, you can see what stores, restaurants etc. are there. Hope it helps.

    Hi there, is three hours layover enought time for us (flying in from Mexico) to get our luggage, clear security & immigration and check in to in order to catch our next flight to Sydney, Australia?

    • @AirportBunny2023
      @AirportBunny2023  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching. 3 hrs should be fine. It should take about 45 mins to 1.5 hrs to clear immigration/customs/ baggage claim after landing and rest to check in for your Sydney flight. One thing I was wondering though is unless you made two separate reservations, one to YVR and another from YVR to Sydney, you might not even have to collect bags and should be able to go through connecting facility/ immigration/customs on level 4 and go directly to your Sydney departing D gate on level 3. This is if you are on a participating airline and immigration facility on level 4 is open and you have through-checked bag. If not, you might have to go to main level 2 for immigration/customs and baggage claim and recheck again with your airline for departure to Sydney. Please confirm with your airline and also check yvr.ca International/USA arrivals connection map for details. Safe travels!

      Hello. Thanks for watching the video. If you are going from Toronto to Shanghai via Vancouver and have through checked bags, once you arrive on main terminal in Vancouver, follow signs to International connections to D gates. Please check yvr.ca Canada arrivals connections map for details. It says only passengers arriving on the South terminal have to claim bags and change terminals but I believe you’ll arrive on main terminal A,B or C and should be able to go directly to your D gate. Please check with your airlines to confirm. Safe travels. Thanks.

      @@riffgroove I simply responded in kind to your own "snarky" comment. (And you can add things like Parkinson's and being a stroke victim to the list.) The point isn't what caused my wife in particular to be uncomfortable (I would NOT call her "disabled"), but rather your complete ignorance of the *myriad* of reasons one might not be able or not want to use an escalator. After all, the airports put them in for good reasons.
