Thank you for your ever cheerful builds Andy. This one is particularly close to my heart. My grandfather was a driver of this very vehicle in The Royal Wessex Yeomanry, just after they'd converted from horses to the Rolls Royce armoured car in the early 1920s. Ever after, his little joke was that he'd learned to drive in a Rolls Royce 🙂
you all probably dont give a damn but does anyone know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my account password. I would love any tricks you can give me
@Matteo Gunner i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Not often you get to use the 'Light Blue' on an Armoured Car. But looks like a very Tricky kit for someone who has 'Early onset Parkinsons.!' Although some Days are less Wobbly than others. So a Case of 'Picking your Battles.!' ( Days.!) Good Reveiw/Build Andy..! Cheers kim in Oz. 😎
Great jobb, Andy. As you say, that is one gorgeous looking vehicle! It just cannot disguise the fact that it is a Rolls Royce. I believe Lawrence of Arabia made use of one of these from time to time.
you see them in the movie. the armoured cars didn't have much use on the Western Front but were used extensively in the Middle East and in Britain's Empire for police duties. ones operated by the RAF Regiment served in Iraq and Tran-Jordan 'in the inter-war years.
Another excellent build video by Andy. Was in your store on Monday and as always, a great experience with great conversation with Andy. His store not only offers a great selection of models and hobby tools, it’s now become an excellent museum of Andy’s work. Highly recommend a visit to his store.
Thank you so much . I really like how you are always honest in your reviews. The spokes look very effective. Meng has yet again raised the bar. I live in the uk and am looking forward to going back into hobby shops again .
I've always had something of a secret fondness for this era and kind of vehicle. So many countries did their unique takes on what an armored car should be. When I started modeling in the 1960s there just weren't kits like this on the market but now, the choices are staggering. Nice build, can't wait for the next one.
I saw one of these at Tankfest 2014 at Bovington here in the UK. I thought they had just rolled it down the slope into the tank arena because there was no sound, but then it drove off. It was the Rolls Royce engineering, it made hardly any noise - I guess it must have been the world's first stealth AFV.
Beautiful video and build as always. I love the colour scheme 👍🏼 There is one in running condition in the War Years Remembered museum in Northern Ireland that was restored and donated by the Irish Army. Take care all, Ian
Wow , this project kit from Meng is fantastic and the Rolls Royce Armored vehicle from the WWI is really amazing . The details and the painting process are so acurate and the weathering is amazing . Thank you for sharing this great video , my friend !🎩👌🥇🏆👍
I've found that, even if it's not may be my of interest, the kit that you build in a video, your always cheerful way of doing them, building and making the video, is contagious and rubbing off! Here's to many successful years with your shop, many more videos and to soon hit 200K subscribers! 🤜🏻🤛🏻👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻🏆🥇🍻
Great video Andy. Built the 1914 RNAS version last Christmas and apart from the fragile headlight brackets, it was a great build. I used Tamiya clear yellow inside the front headlights and it gave a great effect. Looking forward to the Miniart armoured car build
Hi Andy, I once had the opportunity to ride on the one belonging to the tank museum at Bovington England , it was a fantastic experience. I seem to remember that the wheels were covered with a conical cover to protect the spokes from damage. Apart from that it is exactly the same as your model except that it was painted a dark green.
Hi Andy, that was a excellent build review, and a often forgotten subject era, thanks for this great video, I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia. PS if I ever get this kit, I would build the 19 20's version.
Great to see the love given to what would have once been obscure WW1-era vehicles! Just on the skinny/roll-over thing - they might have been skinny, but for the most part they drove much more slowly (esp ones like the 'bus when loaded), weight was still fairly low down, but possibly most of all because the tyres back then would be more inclined to slide than to grip, especially on non-paved roads. But yes, they could fall over if the wrong circumstances arose.
I also enjoyed this model, although I did mess up the etched wheels and had to settle on the other version. It is a cool looking vehicle and this was another great video. Thank you, Andy!!
Andy, very nice build of an unusual subject. I find a couple of blobs of blu tack are useful for holding photo etch off the workbench while attaching other parts. This prevents gluing everything to the said bench! Not quite as good as having three hands would be, which usually seems to be necessary when working with PE.
This is a really nice kit. I built the box cover version and the parts fit perfectly, tho the paint work proved tricker than expected :) This was my first Meng and I want another now ;)
I really don’t know Andy why people leave dislikes to your videos. At the end of the day you are only trying to show how things should turn out. To all the dislikers you are obviously not serious modellers in my view just critics.
I built the roden version of this. And it was ok. It was a newbie build seedings how I just got back to the hobby last year. I'm going to get this kit next
The Lanchester Armoured car from Copper State is somewhat like this, but with a sexy sloping bonnet - it was lighter and faster than the RR. ALSO - Nice use of John Cage's '4:33' for the musical interlude sections... ;)
Great review and agree it is a great looking vehicle, this was perfect timing Andy as i am litterally expecting this kit to be delivered any day now, so super helpful to watch this, I am going to try to convert it into a Dutch Ehrhardt so looking forward to it turning up 😀
I really enjoyed this video, Hadn't really considered WW1 vehicles and aircraft but with the Meng Dr1 the home grown Wingnut Wings 😭(Im a NZer) and now these, since My local hobby store doesn't carry them so there may be an order soon (depending upon the postage).
would love to see you make the mini art armoured car, which I have made myself. It is very challenging and would be great to see how you go about it, as some of the details I found virtually impossible as they were so tiny. Beautiful Meng armoured car by the way!
Blue turret looks great, its similar to "Service Blue," a naval color used by the British in Early WW1. They used naval colors at first because the armored forces actually came out of the Navy's "Landship Commission." I think your idea about the blue matching the horizon is probably true too.
Great video and a great subject. They've got one at Bovington and there's a great tank chat's video by David Fletcher. Change of subject, do you have any hints or tips on working with photoetch? Good to see you back!
i saw the real thing at a day out at bovington tank museum [tank fest] a few years ago & its awsum.their is also an all metal one you can bye & build at armourtec.both places in the uk
Nice build. I just wonder if there are no decals in the kit, or you just didn't show them because they wouldn't fit your paint scheme. Also, looking at the paint of the Austin, I think the top part of the body might have been blue as well.
Really enjoyed watching this as I bought this model last week when I saw it… just one thing Andy, after the the painting of chassis and turret did you spray a clear varnish or did you weather without doing that, thanks for video 👍
Love the look of this model. Quick question, I'm starting out and wondering if I should use BSI super glue or tamiya extra thin on plastic models like you are. Wondering if there's a reason you use plastic cement over super glue. I think plastic cement might make stronger bond but is it more fragile or take longer to dry. Just wondering and again great video
Easiest PE spoke wheels i've seen so far! However i believe the turret of the 1914 model should be lower; they appear to be the same as the late one in the kit.
The RR was in use in Palestine/Iraq in early WWII. I've done the Roden 1914 armored car. No doubt the Meng is a much cleaner build (the Roden is not a good build.) However, Meng kept the same turret for both the WWI and 1920+ models. This is not correct - and Roden has it right; The 1914 RR had a much lower turret - the difference is very notable. But no doubt few would know the difference.
Thank you for your ever cheerful builds Andy. This one is particularly close to my heart. My grandfather was a driver of this very vehicle in The Royal Wessex Yeomanry, just after they'd converted from horses to the Rolls Royce armoured car in the early 1920s. Very cool story, thank you
@tacfoley very cool

This armoured car has that classy shape, like a British gentleman
That super glue is great. It works very well on clear parts it will not fog them up. Great video Andy.
Love the clear tips and advice on doing the spoke wheels..Very helpful..Ill watch this again when I start my kit..Cheers Andy
Thank you so much . I really like how you are always honest in your reviews. The spokes look very effective. Meng has yet again raised the bar. I live in the uk and am looking forward to going back into hobby shops again .

Love the blue turret idea. Very cool and different. And British.
Did this model and loved it. The PE spokes were a disaster so I opted out and used the rubber wheels that also look great. Very high quality model.
Excellent build Andy. Not for the beginner. I'm to shaky and hyper to attempt this kit together. I know me.
Love watching you work Sir. 👍😊
Pretty cool armored car the Brits put together. It does have a nice shape to it
Great video Andy. Always nice to see an armoured car build.
That's a good looking build Andy you should do the other version along with the other kit so you have all three years 👍👍
Building mine now. Yours was a really nice job. Very nice video.
Beautiful video and build as always. I love the colour scheme 👍🏼 There is one in running condition in the War Years Remembered museum in Northern Ireland that was restored and donated by the Irish Army.
Take care all, Ian
Great vid and build Andy!!!!!! 👌 😉 Really enjoyed.
Nice example in the Tank museum in the UK, that’s a nice kit 👌🏻😎
Beautifully weathered, dusty looking RR.
Very enjoyable video Andy Nice to see a ww1 armoured car nicely done sir Steve 🇬🇧
Wow , this project kit from Meng is fantastic and the Rolls Royce Armored vehicle from the WWI is really amazing . The details and the painting process are so acurate and the weathering is amazing . Thank you for sharing this great video , my friend !🎩👌🥇🏆👍
Great job Andy and it's good to see you again.
Enjoyed build. Kit looks really good.
Its great to see more WW1 vehicles available, from good manufacturers. 👍
Haven't even watched yet but I do know that I'm gonna enjoy this one;)
Thank you

What a cool little kit! Love the spoked wheels...
Andy is always my go to for ideas....
Very good work uncle andy
I love the clunkiness of those WWI armored cars. Would definitely play the soundtrack from "Lawrence of Arabia" while building this one!
Generally thought to be an excellent afv. Not clunky at all.
A great model, wonderfully built as always, and of course lots of hints and tips along the way 😃👍
Awesome build sir. I was excited when I got the notice of a new video look forward to your builds.
Great video Andy.
Built the 1914 RNAS version last Christmas and apart from the fragile headlight brackets, it was a great build. I used Tamiya clear yellow inside the front headlights and it gave a great effect.
Looking forward to the Miniart armoured car build
Love your instructional videos. Would like to see military figures featured at some point.
Nice. I wish somebody would produce some 1/24 Armor kits.. Particularly something like this.
I helped a neighbor build a 1920s Bentley, they did roll over, and most cars of the era were mostly wood, some had wooden frames.
Awesome video Andy! Haven’t watching in a while. Good to see you’re well
I was gonna do the sand tyres. You have convinced me otherwise.
Hi Andy, I once had the opportunity to ride on the one belonging to the tank museum at Bovington England , it was a fantastic experience. Great video Andy, loved the extra time on it, and chipping with the foam section, very cool!!
Great progression Andy!!
Cheers!!!
Cool lookin vehicle !
Sure looks like the Roden kit. Built 3 of them. Nice Job on that.
Thanks Andy, I'm thinking of diving into modelling again and that might be just the kit. Earned a sub food job.
Nice work Andy. These old armored cars are so cool
Cool little vehicle
Hi Andy, that was a excellent build review, and a often forgotten subject era, thanks for this great video, I hope you and your family are keeping safe and well, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia. PS if I ever get this kit, I would build the 19 20's version.

Great tutorial Andy, very cool kit!
Great videos, Andy! I’d love to build it but I don’t see the kit on your website. Thanks!
YES THE BLUE LOOKS V GOOD NICE ONE THANKS , NOW GET ON WHITH THE ARMOURED CAR ONE 🚗 👍 .
Beau résultat et bonne vidéo !!Bravo
Thank you for the detailed information
This is a really nice kit. I built the box cover version and the parts fit perfectly, tho the paint work proved tricker than expected :)

Great informative build, as ever Andy. Fancied a change of pace from tanks for a while now. May just get me one of these.
Great video and a neat looking model. This one would be very interesting to build. Great jod. Thanks for sharing and God Bless.
Not sure on the blue turret. But can see your reasons. Hey, It`s your kit, Paint it how you want.
Good job ..
Regards from Argentina dear Andy!
What a gorgeous model!!!😍😍
GREAT Job Andy!!
Want this even more now, cheers Andy!
Nice vid man i love your vids you inspired me to start an own channel
Go for it!
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters thx man
I built the roden version of this. And it was ok. It was a newbie build seedings how I just got back to the hobby last year. I'm going to get this kit next
I have this kit, waiting to be build.Still haven't desided in what version to do it.
Very relaxing to watch this masterclass,

You forgot the classical music in the sped up parts of the video :)
I know i just realized it ooops lol
😱a longer vid? I’m in heaven 😇😇😇
Great review and agree it is a great looking vehicle, this was perfect timing Andy as i am litterally expecting this kit to be delivered any day now, so super helpful to watch this, I am going to try to convert it into a Dutch Ehrhardt so looking forward to it turning up 😀
Very cool
Yeah
Hooo... whaouw !!! Youuu make my day !!! Always an event when you release a new video !!! Can't wait to watch it ...
Wonderful job! My only nit would be that the tires shouldn’t be black. They didn’t start adding carbon to tires until 1917. I would use a light grey.

GREAT video, couldn't find the kit on your website:-(
Love the wheels
*BF1 intensifies*
Hell yeah brother
Why People dislike this
Andy, can you tell me how you painted the wheels/tires? They’re perfect!
i saw the real thing at a day out at bovington tank museum [tank fest] a few years ago & its awsum.their is also an all metal one you can bye & build at armourtec.both places in the uk
been ages since last build Andy, thought you had lost your mojo
nice 1914 batmobile!
Nice build. I just wonder if there are no decals in the kit, or you just didn't show them because they wouldn't fit your paint scheme. Also, looking at the paint of the Austin, I think the top part of the body might have been blue as well.

I have a question for you, Andy. What is the oldest completed model, you have?
Does anyone know if he took the wheels of again when he painted them?
Easiest PE spoke wheels i've seen so far! However i believe the turret of the 1914 model should be lower; they appear to be the same as the late one in the kit.

Those wheels are pain in the ass just to look how you doing it 🤪🤪🤪 But RR is beautiful! Really cool vehicle!
Nice
Thanks
