    After a while, and with a lot of satisfaction I got the rib to work. Due to the age of the model, the rib feature will not work as it did in 2009 here. What I did to satisfy:
    1. Ensure driving sketch line doesn't go beyond rib area i.e. is coincident with circumference of the circle rims, not the two centres.
    2. Re-dimension the height of the rib in sketch (the offset relationship at 5:16) to make it fit - from 25 to 18mm.
    Make a note of this for future Ribs! SW Ribs feature used to be more forgiving.

      and this will probably fail weight comparison in future. There is something off in this guide even though it works for more real life situation. I hope they are aware for future ModelMania of those changes in some functions that makes old methods not work

      @@mrana2424 I have found exiting out of the sketch then applying the rib feature solves that problem. It doesn't function same way as when extruding or cutting. In those other features it isn't neccessary to exit the sketch. To do the rib feature you must exit the sketch. One of the many little nuances with Solidworks. So when you are done with sketching the rib, close the sketch, apply rib feature 6.00mm, mid plan and turn direction down towards the part. Will enable you to create the rib feature.

    why do you select the top plane as the direction of pull? can we select the direction of pull by any parallel face/plane to the top plane?

    • @markschneider6718
      @markschneider6718 3 года назад +1

      Hi Calvin, yes for a parting line draft the position of the draft plane does not matter and any face that is parallel to the top plane would yield the same result. For Neutral Plane draft the position of the draft plane DOES matter, as the selected plane determines the draft hinge. For Parting Line draft the draft hinge is the selected parting line.

    • @craigprice6256

      He did add the draft to the rib part. By utilizing parting lines (top plane) and selecting tangency he was able to apply the draft downwards at 4 degrees each side.
