- I’ve headed out to Sacramento to take my third swing at a three hour marathon. This will be my first time at the California International Marathon, and I think CIM is just the kind of course that I need.

I did my first full marathon on Sunday and when I entered no man’s land after 30k, all your motivation videos flashed through my mind and kept me going. Sub 3 or not, u are still awesome and inspiring!
great job on your PR Ivan!
Soo close! I came in at 5:34. No record breaking, but I did it! It was an emotional rollercoaster for me. I saw my dad near the beginning. Then my daughter & her XC coach in Fair Oaks working the intersections. Finally at mile 19 I saw the group I have been training with there to help me fuel up & bolster me for those final miles!
16 miles had been my longest distance before this, & I kept telling myself each step I take is the longest distance I have ever ran. I don't know if this helped or hindered, but that's what I did.
Mike it was great seeing you at the beer garden after the race, and look forward to either being at, or seeing the video you put up when you break 3!
Congrats man!! Amazing effort
Always a first and it will be better the next time
Great race Mike, and well done on the BQ!💪🏼 Awesome editing as always and thanks for taking us along 👍🏻
A truly incredible, inspiring performance. Awesome job Mike!
thanks Emily!
Sooo damn close! You looked strong through the whole race, excellent run!!
Can’t believe you can do those cool camera moves running so fast! Nice job, Mike!
I can feel your pain, finished my last marathon in 3:00:34 and officially missed my BQ by 34 sec since there was no cutoff this year. Keep grinding Mike, sub3 will happen. You’re truly the most consistent running RUclipsr out there and your results truly reflect your well balanced and planned training. Kudos!
As always Mike, you continue to prove that you’re one heck of an athlete! Awesome effort & BQ! That’s a big deal
Dude, you crushed it! You've got sub-3 in the bag, it's just a matter of time! Congratuations on a really strong run :)
I gotta say, you were a constant companion for my marathon preparations this year!! Thanks a million for doing what you do!
I have nothing but praise for you. Any personal best is a victory. 🥇You're older, you're wiser and you're faster. Btw, your running gear looked good. Thanks for sharing. Great video.
thank you!
Congrats again on a great race and an awesome BQ time! Sub-3 just keeps inching closer and closer!
Ok you are a hero! Great show of discipline and focus. Great race. You should be proud! Thank you for sharing with all of us!
A cold beer just hits different after a race. Nice job Sir. Your channel is one of my favorites.
You make it look so easy at that pace! Excellent work, Mike! Thanks for taking us along!
0:49 love how the stick club comes together. First Mike with the gopro. Then the 3.05 pacer. Chased by an insta360 guy. 😅 congratulations on excellent marathon time! Well deserved! You are going to crush 3 next time!
amazing as usual! the drama in your race recaps are soo compelling!
Well done, congratulations. i thought you were going for 2:59, you were very close. my guess if you didn't have to carry the stick you would make it :). anyway, great results! 2:59 is definitely in your reach!
I love your film and the quality of your editing with exceptional slow motion images frankly I love it I think I'll do it this year
So well done, the race result, capturing the drama and the struggle. Congratulations! Pretty sure the girl at 1:30 will be checking out the channel.
Cool to see the course through your eyes... another great video, I appreciate you recording this!
Mike your racing videos always hype me up! Congrats on your race!
I know it wasn’t what you hoped for, but I hope you’re overjoyed with the result! You ran a phenomenal race! Impressive as always, Mike! 👊🏼
it was a good day
You’ve got so much more to offer than just a time. We all believe in you!
the time is just a number
Hahaha that’s me at the end with Mike at 6:42 in the white tank and hat. CIM was my first in-person marathon and the pain was so reallll. Pleasure sharing a course with Mike even though I didn’t even realize he was right next to me at the finish line
Great finish Ben!
@@kofuzi thank you and same to you!
Wow! Cameo.
That was so inspiring !!!! Phenomenal thank you for hanging in there , I kept thinking “ go ! Don’t give up on goal”
thank you!
Great vlog, close to that sub 3 time, surely that gotta be yours in 2022 !! Its been good to see your times drop in the time I've been watching your channel - maybe a couple years now, gone quick !
The chase for 3 may still be on, but that’s a BQ, baby!! Incredible job, we’re all psyched for you.
Remarkable effort and amazing how you can still capture quality content during said effort!
giving the people what they want
Congrats on your race - great time and love the video. Cinematic AF. Keep up the great work, we appreciate it!
thanks for watching!
I would count that as a 2:59 considering you had a go pro on hand. Great job Kofuzi. You inspire so many of us to just keep pushing and chasing that elusive PR. Watching from the Philippines. Mabuhay ka kapatid. (Live long my brother).
Great video Mike! That last bit while crossing the finish line really had an emotional element that made it feel like we were right there.
thanks for coming with me!
Fantastic - found myself shouting you on. I don’t know how you run with the stick but of course delighted you had it so we could get the commentary!!!
Great race! Way to finish strong!
After I ran 3:00:49 in my 4th marathon ever (2014 Chicago), I thought breaking 3 would just be a formality. It took me 9 tries over the next 5 years to finally come in at 2:59:48 (2019 Chicago). I ran 3:01, 3:04, 3:03, 3:11....even a 3:00:12 in 2018 (LA, that was really painful). So, keep at it and it'll be great!
Epic effort Mike, raising the non elite bar right there
Awesome video! CIM is quite nuts. A buddy of mine finished in around 2'58 and was something like 950th overall. With the time you ran you would be totally alone up front in most marathons, and here you are mid pack.
Epic Marathon Kofuzi! Congratulations 🍾 on a solid BQ time. Based on your split times that was one of your best managed Marathon to date. Sub 3 not far away 👍
almost an even split
you have proven to yourself that a marathon isn't about being able to conquer it, but about how passionately you conquer it. your passion turns into inspiration and your experience turns into knowledge. thank you!
thank you for the kind words
Love your content. Been following your videos since this past Chicago marathon (my third). My boyfriend and I hope to meet you in person next time around!
I know you did your best, the result is awesome. BQ, and strong pace from the start to the end, hard work payed off. Congrats Mr Ko.
Great race, Mike! And congrats on the BQ! I hope you’re proud of the training you did this year and the effort you put into this race. Congrats again!
it's been a super fun year
Yes 👍 on BQ. Working on mine in 2022 but mine is easier time I’ll be 60 in may. I am amazed though that you and other’s can run while carrying a camera at that speed. Congrats thanks for bringing us along.
I already knew the final time from Strava, but it was still a super suspenseful video ! Great edit, Ko! And great race! PS - The Kofuzi post race hacking is always so darn funny! I love that you keep that in
Be proud. We’re proud of you. Inspirational.
Great job! Thank you for sharing!
Congratulations on an awesome race! Thanks for taking us along on the journey. Much appreciated! I'm looking forward to celebrating your eventual Sub 3 with you. It's just a matter of time.
You did great!! Thanks for the inspiration and the amazing race footage!
You'll nail it next time for sure!!
Congrats!
Love that you are keeping the selfie stick! Sharing the experience and being an ambassador for the sport are great goals, and you'll still get that sub-3 eventually.
It’s difficult but good catch on telling yourself to slow down and not get too excited too early. So close to your personal goal but it’s in you for sure. Congrats!
Hills and humidity. Those were tough to overcome on Sunday. I did a 3:13 which was my PR and a BQ. We will both continue to hunt for sub 3. Great work!
congratulations!
That is amazing! Race looked like fun. Def enjoying the process of you going for sub 3. So close!
I sat on a panel with Michelle Baxter, who did finally get her sub 3. this was her 8th try, I think
Great race! Thanks for everything you do for the sport.
Oh damn. Way tough it out at the end!👏👏👏 I wish I could hit a 3hr marathon.
Absolutely amazing. That’s an unheard of time for me. Also congrats you’re qualified for Boston!
Congratulations! Your run was so impressive - the pace, having a selfie stick and camera in hand and taking in fluids and gels. I don’t know how you manage so well. Thanks for taking us along. Hope to see you in Boston in 2023!
thanks for coming with me!
Congratulations mike. Was rooting for you live as I was tracking your splits. Cheers on finishing 🍻
Thanks for following along! Hope you didn’t have too many issues with the site crashing!
Wow! You are amazing! Thanks for carrying us along. I am still trying a sub 3 for a half 🤣
Amazing. Love the content. Felt like we were right there running with you. I was rooting for you. You’re an inspiration to us all. Awesome job man!
Getting closer to that 3!! Excellent video and music! Thank you once again for sharing your journey! Enjoyed every minute of it!
What an inspiring watch! And you still made time to film with multiple angles!
Love to see your footage and after starting with the 3 hour pacer group somehow finished at 2:58:10 in my first marathon at 47 years old. If I can break 3 so can you so it's just a matter of time. Have fun getting there and keep those vids coming. 👍
so impressive! I should have gotten up to that 3 hour group. lot of good results from that group on Sunday
What a brilliant performance Mike. Goal time or not - it was such a solid performance.
Keep going - you are an inspiration to us all. 🏃♂️👏
I feel like I performed pretty close to my potential that day. literally can't ask for much more than that.
Awesome run Mike!! Sub 3 is definitely going to happen for you. Congrats on your BQ!! 🏃♂️💪
Great job on the race and great editing and images on the video as always. Thank you for taking the time and sharing with us.
Well done! CIM is on my bucket list for 2022
very cool!
Awesome Ko. You inspire this old dude. Thanks
Great work, Mike. Thanks for bringing us along on your marathon journey. Hope to meet you in person at one of these marathons someday!
Thats a great effort. Well done. Your insights provide inspiration to many people in helping them achieve their goals also.👏👏
Awesome video and race! Congratulations you did not disappoint! Excellent outcome for a little less traditional buildup as you mentioned in your prior buildup. Sub 3 is in your grasp! I am continually am inspired by your videos!
Great run, man! Always love the close up of the dry heave at the end 😂
CONGRATULATIONS 🥳🏃♂️🥳🏃♂️🥳🏃♂️
Nice job Mike. You should be proud of your result. Congratulations.
Nice run dude! Basically even splits for each half....well done!
Amazing job Michael! The journey continues.
Some part of me wonders whether I am subconsciously having Memento moments out there on the course
Sooo close!! but amazing job on the second half. Keep it up and I know you'll get it on the next one.
feeling overall pretty good about it
So inspiring! You are awesome!! You’ll get it soon…. Just keep doing what you do!
Great time 🏃🏽♂️💨 well done!
What a gutsy run, you essentially ran half a marathon in the pain cave. Hats off to you big time. The sub 3 is just around the corner.
held my feet to the fire, for sure
Great job💪👏👏 and still had time for all the classic Kofuzi moves💪 Well done Michael
Hell Yeah!!! Great Job!!!
I love that music you play at the end of the videos.
me too
Great Video and Congrats again!! Many Respects!! (I'm the guy taking selfie with you in hotel lobby Friday night and in the beer area after finish line)
great to meet you!
Congrats on a good race. I PR’d there yesterday and really enjoyed the course along with the weather.
Great race video once again! Valiant effort and congrats on the great finish!
Congrats on your BQ, great effort!!!!!. I don't know how you managed to carry that camera the whole time.
Great race and BQ! Look forward to seeing the next build
Racing is hard work but you’ve got GRIT digging deep until the finish! Outstanding and congrats again on the BQ!!
thanks Leona!
Congratulations. Still a fantastic time. Well deserved beer!
It was delicious
I was following very closely and when I saw the weather I knew the conditions were perfect. Be very happy, that is a fantastic time. You’re knocking on sub three
Can’t ask for much better
Wow, you're too elite for me eyes to even follow your movements but I'm so impressed with your amazing videographer skills, I'm going to subscribe just so I can check out your videos. 😍
Thank you!
Awesome editing, like a mini movie 😎
Excellent, You just dont know how this has motivated people to be encouraged as runners. And to keep working towards a goal.
thank you for saying that. I appreciate it greatly
Excellent work!! Congrats!!
Great job, congratulations.
Awesome job!! Congrats on the BQ time!! Very Impressive!!
Epic race, great video - congrats! I took about 10 swings at sub-3 before I got it (at age 41). This was a really strong run. Keep it up! Looking forward to a video with your reflections on the race.
I think this is one of those things that is going to take me a while to reach. I'm good with that
Well done sir . Outstanding effort. I was hoping for a sub 3 in my 1st official 26.2 and managed 3.08 (12 minutes under Boston qualifying time for my age , 49 years young ). I’ve been accepted for Boston in April and along with my wife look forward to visiting your great country 👍🏃♀️
That’s awesome! I won’t be running 2022, but I hope to be there to celebrate from the sidelines!
A kofuzi group run would be special 🤞
Congratulations!!! A great run!!!
Congrats!! 🍾 Houston is calling you for your sub 3!
Superb result, it’s a great time. I know 3HR was the goal but so many factors have to come together in that moment to make it happen. Still think you can push on now and it’s definitely achievable. Don’t give up 👊💪🏃🏻♂️
