60007 Sir Nigel Gresley Races South on the ECML!

In this short video, we capture a late running LNER A4 Pacific 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley speeding southbound on her home territory hauling the return leg of a Steam Dreams London Kings Cross to Newcastle excursion from 'you guessed it' Newcastle to London Kings Cross along the East Coast Mainline the entire journey 6th April 2024. The outward leg of the tour was hauled by a Class 90.
We see the famous A4 at Joan Croft, racing towards her hometown of Doncaster where she was built in 1937 with a happy little toot on the chime whistle as she tries to make up for lost time with a late running Lumo Edinburgh to London Kings Cross service not far behind!
Overall we did try to chase 60007 to Newark Northgate but due to leaving Ranskill Loop, just north of Retford earlier than planned due to late running we decided to bail on this shot and head home with what we got, nonetheless, it was great to see this legend of steam once again this year and we hope to capture more of her again in 2024!
It's also certainly rather fitting she would run along her home territory on this day with her namesake passing away 64 years one day prior to this run on 5th April and it's safe to say his legend and spirit shall live forever in this absolute masterpiece of a locomotive. Long live Sir Nigel Gresley!
